Chapter 502: The Purple Moon (Second Update)
Chapter 502: The Purple Moon (Second Update)
The time is two nights ago.
In Magneolia City, Lucy, humming a little tune, was walking her pet Celestial Spirit, Canis Minor, along the riverbank. She was in a great mood as she slowly made her way back to her rental apartment.
However, the moment she opened her door, the scene inside sent her blood pressure soaring and her mood plummeting to rock bottom.
She saw Natsu and Happy, both drenched in sweat, doing push-ups and sit-ups on her pink bed, holding a few dumbbells.
"Get out of here!"
Lucy immediately jumped up and delivered a double kick, sending both Natsu and Happy flying off the bed.
She then unleashed a torrent of furious shouts at the intruders.
Breaking into a girl's room was bad enough, but doing that kind of exercise in her room was absolutely shameless.
However, before she could finish her tirade, Happy waved a mission request with a large 'S' stamp in front of her.
It turned out that Natsu, after losing to Erza and Mystogan and being denied access to the second floor, had asked Happy to sneak upstairs and steal an S-Class Mission Request. He planned to complete the mission and return as a hero, earning everyone's respect.
And Lucy was their top choice to join them on this S-Class Mission.
"No way. We don't have the qualifications to take on S-Class Missions yet. What you're doing is already a violation of the guild rules. You should quickly return that mission request in secret!"
Lucy was shocked when she heard this. Before leaving the guild, Mira had informed her that only guild masters could approve S-Class missions, and the consequences of breaking this rule were severe.
Natsu, however, dismissed her concerns:
"If we don't try, we'll never get to the second floor. As long as we succeed, the old man will definitely recognize us. By the way, the reward for this mission is 70 million J!"
"Even if it's 70 million J, I'm not going. Absolutely not. Natsu, you're being too reckless. If you want to go, go by yourselves!"
Lucy firmly refused.
No way, an S-Class Mission? She didn't want to die young. Besides, as the daughter of a wealthy family, she had seen more than enough money. She earned money just to pay the rent, not because she was greedy.
"Really not coming?"
Natsu asked again.
Lucy waved her hand, her meaning clear.
"Alright then!"
Natsu and Happy exchanged a sly glance.
"But the reward for this mission isn't just money. The client has also promised to give us a ..."
Two minutes later.
Lucy, her face glowing with excitement, had packed everything she might need for the trip, slung her bag over her shoulder, and said to Natsu and Happy with a smile:
"Let's go. We'll find Jerry to take us to Carnelia Island!"
She had never expected to agree in the end.
There was no way she could resist the lure of the Golden Zodiac Spirit Key mentioned on the mission request, along with the 70 million J reward.
There were only twelve Golden Zodiac Spirit Keys in the world, and for a Celestial Mage like her, the temptation was too great to ignore.
"Jerry!!!"
Just as Lucy, Natsu, and Happy were about to leave, a furious roar came from outside the house, followed by a burst of lightning.
"It's Laxus!"
Natsu immediately recognized Laxus's voice and was about to go out to see what was happening, but Lucy grabbed his arm.
"We can't let Laxus know we stole the S-Class Mission Request, or we won't be able to go on the mission."
So, after Laxus left, the two of them and Happy cautiously went out and arrived at the house where Jerry was staying.
Then, they saw the same scene as Laxus had.
"What do we do now?"
Lucy asked.
They had originally planned to have their friend Jerry use a portal to teleport them, as there were no trains to Hargeon Port at this hour.
"Let's run there!"
Natsu said with a serious face.
He got motion sickness from riding in vehicles, so running was more comfortable for him.
"Absolutely not!"
Lucy immediately rejected the idea. She wasn't as strong as Natsu and didn't have that kind of stamina.
In the end, she reluctantly took some money from her empty purse and took Natsu and Happy on a carriage to Hargeon City.
Unfortunately, the carriage was too slow, and they were caught by Gray, who had taken the early morning train to chase them.
But Natsu was determined. He knocked Gray out when Gray wasn't paying attention and then took the unconscious Gray with him on the boat to Cursed Island.
Now, let's return to the present.
At 8 PM, on the beach of Carnelia Island, a ring of fire appeared out of nowhere.
A young, handsome man with brown hair and a red-haired woman in armor stepped through the ring of fire, one after the other.
It was Jerry and Erza.
"Hey, a purple moon?"
As soon as Jerry closed the portal, he noticed the moon in the sky, which was purple.
Although this was a magical world, the moon here was no different from the one on Earth. Just a moment ago, in Magnolia City, the moon was still its normal color.
"Be careful. This might have something to do with the island. It's long been rumored to be cursed, and there are many demons here."
"Demons!"
Jerry's face suddenly lit up with interest.
He had originally come to help Erza bring Natsu and the others back to the guild, but now he was intrigued by the island.
A few days ago, he had studied the cell structure of cursed demons. If he could get more genetic material from different demons, it might help with his research on new Bloodline Enhancers.
"Let's go to the village on the island where the mission was posted. Natsu and Lucy might be there at this time."
Erza pointed to a small village not far ahead, which was barely visible through the dense forest. It looked more like a small fort, surrounded by long logs and even had two watchtowers.
After all, a regular village wouldn't have a five-meter-high wall or watchtowers.
Jerry shrugged, indicating he had no objections.
So, the two of them walked together toward the village in the forest.
"Did they already notice we're here?"
As they approached the village gate, Erza didn't have time to knock before the heavy wooden door was opened by the sound of ropes being pulled.
On the other side of the door stood Lucy and a group of strange humanoid creatures with pointed horns on their heads, who didn't look human, along with Happy flying in the air.
"Erza, Jerry!"
Lucy was overjoyed the moment she saw Erza and Jerry.
She had been worrying about how she would defend herself against a group of powerful mages alone, and now the formidable Erza and the versatile Jerry had appeared. They were her saviors!
