Chapter 502: The Fury of Lu Jiasan
Chapter 502: The Fury of Lu Jiasan
Lu Jiasan recounted how Tang Sufen had stirred up trouble: "Big Sister-in-law, I won't let this matter rest. I'll pay her a visit tomorrow and settle the score."
Wang Xiaojie was also furious. "What's wrong with that woman? How does she benefit from driving a wedge between Jiaxin and your family?"
Lu Jiasan didn't care about her motives; all that mattered was that she dared to provoke her, and now she would face the consequences.
Wang Xiaojie didn't try to dissuade her; she only asked her to be careful and not hurt anyone, or else she would lose the moral high ground.
Lu Jiaguang returned home late, and upon learning about the situation, he was also enraged. However, his anger was directed at Lu Jiazu, and he didn't spare a thought for Tang Sufen. "It's only right that San's things go to Jiaxin. What is Second Brother so upset about?"
Wang Xiaojie explained, "Second Brother feels that since Shanzi was adopted by San, all of San's possessions and money should be left to him instead of Jiaxin. After all, Jiaxin is a daughter, and daughters will eventually marry out."
Lu Jiaguang replied irritably, "Is Second Brother's brain filled with mush? How could Jiaxin possibly want San's money?"
This young lady has a fondness for antiques, and while she may accept those, she would never take money. With the amount of money she earns, there's no way she'd want San's.
Wang Xiaojie asked, "Should I take the morning off tomorrow? Just in case things get out of hand, I can lend a hand to my younger sister-in-law."
"As long as those from the Huang family aren't around, Second Sister-in-law won't be at a disadvantage," Lu Jiaguang assured her.
The Second Brother's wife used to work in the fields and often rolled dough; she was very strong, and Tang Sufen was no match for her.
The next day, after breakfast, Lu Jiasan paid a visit. Lu Hongjun was having breakfast when she arrived, and Tang Sufen was feeding her grandson.
Seeing Lu Jiasan storm in, Lu Hongjun was startled and asked, "Jiazu's wife, what's the matter?"
Lu Jiasan ignored him and charged forward, pushing Tang Sufen to the ground and pinning her down. She began assaulting her, striking her on both sides while berating her: "I'll beat you to death, you venomous woman with a black heart. No wonder your previous husband died so young; you must have brought him bad luck."
Tang Sufen was unable to fight back, but she knew that Lu Jiazu couldn't stop Lu Jiasan, so she cried for help: "Murder! Murder! Someone, please help me!"
Although Lu Hongjun had many grievances against Tang Sufen, he didn't like seeing her being beaten like this. "Stop! Stop it now. Jiazu's wife, let's talk this out calmly."
After landing a slap, Lu Jiasan said, "Third Brother, do you know what this venomous woman did yesterday? She went to Jiazu and told him that you gave all your possessions and money to Jiaxin and nothing to Shanzi. Third Brother, she's trying to create conflict between us and Jiaxin."
Lu Hongjun's face darkened as he asked, "Tang Sufen, is what Jiazu's wife saying true?"
Tang Sufen knew she couldn't deny it, but she tried to explain in a calculated manner: "I happened to run into Jiazu yesterday, and he asked about you. I told him that your health has been recovering well. We chatted for a bit, and I mentioned that Jiaxin had come to take you away the night before she left. My intention was to imply that since your health is fragile, they should have come to take you earlier. Arriving so late showed a lack of sincerity. But I didn't expect him to get so angry and storm off."
As she finished her explanation, Lu Jiasan slapped her again, this time with all her might, causing Tang Sufen's mouth to bleed.
Just as Lu Jiasan was about to strike again, several neighbors walked in and quickly pulled the women apart upon seeing them fighting.
One of the men asked Tang Sufen if she wanted to call the police. If she did, he offered to go to the convenience store and call the authorities right away.
Tang Sufen was not about to let this matter drop after suffering such a huge loss. "I'm calling the police! I want them to arrest her!"
However, Lu Hongjun disagreed and explained to the neighbors who had gathered, "It's all a misunderstanding. She's my second nephew's wife, and they got into a fight because of their disputes."
One of the neighbors, an older lady, recognized Lu Ersao as she frequently visited. "Indeed, she's Comrade Lu Hongjun's niece-in-law. Young lady, Tang Sufen is your elder; even if you're in the right, you shouldn't have resorted to violence."
Tang Sufen was furious and thought to herself, 'What do you mean, even if I'm in the right?! I am in the right!'
Lu Ersao huffed indignantly, "I did hit her, but that venomous woman deserved it! My cousin merely took my uncle to the mansion for a night's stay, and this woman went to my head of the family to spread rumors that my uncle gave all his property and money to my cousin. She even said that daughters are like water splashed out, and that the house and money should be left to the grandsons and great-grandsons instead."
After finishing her sentence, Lu Ersao spat at Tang Sufen. "The house you're living in now was bought by my cousin. You dare to create discord in our family while living in a house bought by my cousin, Tang Sufen? You won't have a good death!"
Although Lu Ersao was righteous in her anger, the police still took them to the police station as it was a domestic dispute. In the end, the police educated Lu Ersao and asked her to bear the medical expenses, and the matter was dropped.
As they left the police station, Lu Ersao glared at Tang Sufen and shouted, "You venomous woman! If you dare to stir up trouble in our family again, I'll beat you up again!"
When Huang Jianjun and Huang Jianye received the news and arrived, Lu Ersao had already returned home. The two brothers wanted to confront Lu Ersao and teach her a lesson, but Lu Hongjun stopped them.
Instead of persuading them, Lu Hongjun shared an incident with them. "My wife once got into a fight with a woman from the countryside. The woman's husband pushed her to the ground, and she went home, grabbed a machete, and chased the man for three miles. It was only because my eldest brother received the news and stopped her in time that a tragedy was averted. If you go there, and she chops you up, don't blame me for not warning you."
There was indeed such an incident, but the protagonist of the story was not Lu Ersao; it was a particularly fierce daughter-in-law from the village.
Upon hearing this, the two brothers dared not go any further.
Lu Hongjun was disgusted by the soft and spineless behavior of his two stepsons.
Shanzi rushed home upon hearing the news. After learning about the incident, he said to Lu Jiazu, "Dad, Grandpa gave me the house in the compound, and Aunt sent me such a large storefront. Having received so much property, if I'm still not content, I'll be struck by lightning."
Shanzi was content with whatever Lu Hongjun was willing to give him, and he didn't crave anything more. As long as he and his wife managed the storefront well, their family would have nothing to worry about.
Lu Jiazu was so angry that he couldn't speak. "Who am I doing this for? If not for you and Goudan?"
Shanzi wouldn't have believed these words in the past, but now he didn't believe a single word. "If you really cared about me, you wouldn't have forced me to adopt Goudan as my second brother in the first place."
"Her father saved my life, and I couldn't just stand by and watch her die," Lu Jiazu said.
"Uncle has saved five people over the years," Shanzi said. "He only accepted a token of gratitude from them and refused any further gifts. What about the Peng family? Over the years, they've been shamelessly demanding more and more, and even married their lazy daughter into our family. Aunt Yun used to be lazy, but she would finish whatever tasks were assigned to her. Ever since she married that woman's son, she stopped doing any work and has been wasting her days away."
"You caused Second Brother to be involved, and now you want to break up my family. Dad, is this how much you care about me and my children? I don't want this kind of 'care'." Shanzi refuted.
Lu Jiazu was left speechless by Shanzi's words.
