Chapter 502: The Boss Who Always Makes the Wrong Choices
Chapter 502: The Boss Who Always Makes the Wrong Choices
As Bamboo Green finished speaking, a figure walked into the backyard.
The Boss finally laid eyes on the man who intrigued and frightened him.
Of average build, clad in tattered clothing, with hair that looked like it had seen better days despite attempts to tidy it, and a haggard expression that spoke of fatigue—he seemed like a young man weighed down by the burdens of life. In no way did he resemble a martial arts master capable of killing two skilled fighters under the Boss's command.
Yet, this was the man who instilled fear in Bamboo Green, and whom Iron Open Sincerity believed to be a formidable opponent to Thunderclap.
The Boss and Xie Xiaofeng laid eyes on each other.
The Boss's fear was tinged with a sense of calm, while Xie Xiaofeng's indifference carried a hint of surprise. He couldn't understand why Iron Open Sincerity was here.
Before Xie Xiaofeng could speak, the Boss beat him to it, "So you're the good-for-nothing Aji?"
The Boss, in his position of power, asked a question to which he already knew the answer, but he received no response, as Xie Xiaofeng never bothered with such pointless inquiries.
The Boss narrowed his eyes, continuing, "You crippled Ah Yong and killed Da Gang."
Ah Yong was Iron Fist, and Da Gang was Iron Head.
Xie Xiaofeng remained silent, his disappointment in the Boss evident.
A flash of anger crossed the Boss's eyes, as no one had ever dared to disregard his authority so blatantly.
The Boss coldly smiled, "Do you think you can kill me?"
Xie Xiaofeng sighed, finally speaking, "Can't you say something useful?"
The Boss tightened his grip, and the white porcelain cup in his hand shattered with a crisp crack, revealing his exceptional finger strength.
A smile played at Bamboo Green's lips, and then he saw Iron Open Sincerity casually pat the Boss on the shoulder, "Rest assured, he's not here to kill you."
The Boss's expression turned apprehensive, and he looked at Iron Open Sincerity with a hint of fear.
He, too, was skilled in martial arts and was no pushover, even if he wasn't as powerful as Thunderclap. He was still above Iron Head and Iron Fist, otherwise how could he have conquered this vast Dongcheng? Even though he had relied on his three fighters in recent years and rarely fought himself, it didn't mean he had neglected his martial arts.
However, he hadn't been able to dodge Iron Open Sincerity's casual pat on his shoulder, and by the time he reacted, Iron Open Sincerity had already withdrawn his hand. This told the Boss that if Iron Open Sincerity wanted to kill him, it would be a swift and easy task.
"He's not here to kill me?" The Boss asked.
Iron Open Sincerity waved at Xie Xiaofeng, "I've sent Old Miao and his family, as well as Golden Orchid, away. Boss Fang has prepared a feast for you. I've already eaten, and there's no poison."
Sun Xingyu smiled slightly and shifted her stool to make room for Xie Xiaofeng.
Bamboo Green's smile froze on his face.
In the original story, he had threatened Xie Xiaofeng with Doll's life, forcing him to kill the Boss. However, while Xie Xiaofeng had rescued Bamboo Green from his fake suicide attempt, he had never intended to kill the Boss.
It was always the Boss who believed that Aji wanted to kill him, and so he sought to eliminate Aji first. In the end, he met his demise at the hands of Second Mister Chou and Single Likewise.
In "The Sword of the Third Young Master," Xie Xiaofeng never once took the initiative to attack anyone. All his actions were purely defensive.
This was true against Iron Fist, Iron Head, and Iron Tiger, against Second Mister Chou and his companions, against Hua Yukun, against Cao Hanyun, Summer Star, and the traitors of the Red Flag Escort Agency, and even against the direct disciples of the seven major sword sects. Even his duel with Thirteenth Yan was instigated and pushed by the latter.
Intrigued, Iron Open Sincerity asked, "What exactly did he say to you?"
"As long as the Boss is alive, Old Miao and his family will never be at peace." Xie Xiaofeng replied calmly, "And the Boss holds a grudge; he will never let go of those who have offended him."
Bamboo Green suddenly spoke up, "What I said was the truth."
The Boss nodded indifferently, "What he said is indeed the truth."
Iron Open Sincerity's eyebrows rose slightly, surprised that the Boss was still maintaining his tough act even at this point.
The next moment, Xie Xiaofeng felt a surge of killing intent emanating from behind him.
The killing intent was sharp and intense, almost tangible as it bore into his back, making him feel the threat of death. It was as if any slight movement, any sign of weakness or opening, would result in his immediate demise at the hands of this formidable force.
This was not the aura of an ordinary master, but the confidence and killing intent unique to a peerless expert.
Even Xie Xiaofeng stood still, quietly sensing the killing intent without making a move.
And in his stillness, Xie Xiaofeng revealed no weaknesses, his body becoming like empty space, giving the person behind him no opportunity to strike.
At the same time, Iron Open Sincerity sensed another sharp killing intent emerging from a different direction.
He turned to see the Boss push the table aside and move away from him, approaching a figure who had just walked out from the back hall.
This new figure wore a Daoist robe, tall and slender, with a pale face and upturned eyes, carrying an air of indescribable pride.
Iron Open Sincerity paid no heed to the killing intent, but calmly picked up his cup and took a sip before turning to the Boss, "Is this the choice you've made?"
"Thank you for your concern, Iron Head." The Boss said flatly, "I understand your intention, but Dongcheng is mine, after all. As long as you remain neutral, I will invite you to drink with me again after I kill Aji."
Iron Open Sincerity nodded, "It seems you have a lot of confidence in them?"
A smile appeared on the Boss's face, "Have you heard of the famous Chour the Second?"
"I have." Iron Open Sincerity finally looked at the robed middle-aged man, "Chour the Second, the renowned swordsman of Jiangnan."
"He's not just a renowned swordsman of Jiangnan," the Boss continued, "Seven out of the ten famous swordsmen of Jiangnan have perished by his hand."
The Boss glanced at the man beside him and flattered, "Ever since the young master of the Xie family passed away, the deadly swordsman Yan Thirteen retired, and there has been hardly any swordsman in the Jianghu who could last thirty moves under Chour the Second."
As the Boss smiled, so did Bamboo Green.
Iron Open Sincerity sighed, "Have you ever heard a saying?"
The Boss asked, "What saying?"
"When fortune comes, the whole world will lend a helping hand. When luck runs out, even heroes are restrained." Iron Open Sincerity explained.
"I've heard it." The Boss's face turned gloomy, "Do you think my luck has run out?"
Iron Open Sincerity smiled faintly and stopped talking, focusing on his meal instead.
Sun Xingyu maintained her role as a maid throughout, remaining silent until she pitied the Boss with a glance and poured wine for Iron Open Sincerity.
The Boss had prepared eight cold dishes, eight hot dishes, four stews, and four soups. It would be a waste not to eat them.
