Chapter 502: N's Confusion
Chapter 502: N's Confusion
April 14th, Monday, Kanaz Pokemon Academy.
"Are we preparing for the 'Spring Festival'?" Jing He sat below, attending a faculty meeting, and listened to Director Ming Jiang's speech with a thoughtful expression.
He lifted his eyelids slightly, taking in the teachers of Kanaz Pokemon Academy around him.
Most of the academy's instructors were present, except for those like Professor Suolan Si, who were often absent.
"As expected, she's not here again."
Jing He thought of the 'Ocean Current Studies Instructor' A Quan, whom he didn't know well but had met, one of the highest-ranking members of the Ocean Team.
Since the start of this semester, A Quan hadn't been seen at the school.
Jing He had discreetly inquired about this with Ming Jiang.
Ming Jiang had mentioned that A Quan was conducting ocean-related research and had taken a leave of absence. As for when he would return, Ming Jiang didn't know either.
In fact, the academy's policy towards part-time instructors like A Quan, Professor Suolan Si, and even Jing He was relatively relaxed.
Professor Suolan Si hadn't visited the academy frequently this semester either.
It was only Jing He, due to the academy's excellent training facilities and his own 'Pokemon Psychology Counseling Room', who was often present at the academy.
He had initially thought that now that he had gained some strength to protect himself, he might learn something about the Ocean Team from A Quan.
Now it seemed that he could only wait for the league to investigate.
After the meeting, Jing He found Ming Jiang heading to the principal's office and informed him that he would be taking a leave of absence for a while.
Anyway, with the upcoming 'Spring Festival', the academy would be preparing and taking a break, just like the 'Autumn Festival' last semester.
This shows that the Pokemon world's schools have relatively relaxed education policies and many holidays.
Of course, being a part-time instructor made it even more relaxed.
"Are you going to Unova?"
The old principal, with his bruised and swollen face, maintained an expression that seemed to say, "I knew this already."
After all, the upcoming 'Youth Grandmaster Championship' was to be held in the Unova region.
"I wonder if Teacher Jing He could help an old man deliver something to an old friend?" The old principal, with ice packs on his face, asked with a smile.
At first, Jing He might have been surprised by the frequent beatings his principal received, but after getting to know him over the past semester, he had become accustomed to it.
As for the old friend... Who didn't know that their principal was famous for his social butterfly ways in his old age?
Thinking of how his little ones had 'tortured' the training room, Jing He decided not to refuse the principal's request.
The principal immediately took out a package and placed it on the desk.
"For the Twin Dragon City Gym Leader, Old Man Sha Ka." The principal addressed Sha Ka as "Old Man," indicating a close relationship.
Upon further thought, Sha Ka was an elderly gentleman passionate about fitness. Although advanced in age, his muscular build could only be matched by top-tier martial artists like Hibana.
In contrast, Master Ma's small, old appearance made it hard to imagine him as a martial artist.
Twin Dragon City was located in the northern part of the Unova region, while Jing He's destination was in the south, not exactly on the way.
However, he could make a detour.
"Understood."
Jing He stuffed the package into Geng Gui's mouth.
The league seemed a bit lacking in cross-regional express delivery, as along with the package, Jing He also received a first-class ticket from Kanaz City to Twin Dragon City.
The old principal was quite efficient in his requests.
"The Unova region is divided by rivers into a central area, a peninsula in the east, and land in the west. The rivers themselves lead to the southern ocean. The central area is divided from north to south by the Unova League Headquarters, Twin Dragon City, Raven City, and Flying Cloud City."
Jing He browsed through a Unova region travel guide and felt the turbulence from the flight as he glanced out the window.
"Yo-ki."
Tyrogue was lying on the window, gazing down at the entire Unova region.
Outside the window, a peaceful scene unfolded, and in the distance, a group of carefree Doduo and Taillow could be seen.
This reminded Jing He of the infuriating "Doduo" from the novels he had read.
Beyond the Doduo and Taillow, he saw the huge glaciers standing beside the two rivers, the central area, and the desert area covered in yellow sand, where the ancient Unova kingdom's court was buried.
Ancient legends followed the ideal dragon and the real dragon of the two princes.
As his thoughts wandered, a voice came over the broadcast.
"We are about to arrive at the Twin Dragon City Airport. Please prepare for landing," a sweet voice brought Jing He back to his senses.
He closed the travel brochure and brought back his Tyrogue.
"Hmm."
Gramps finished his last snack and obediently fastened his seatbelt, much to the relief of the flight attendants.
Finally, they had arrived. If the flight had continued for another half-hour, the first-class food supply would have been exhausted.
The plane landed smoothly, and Jing He, accompanied by his Tyrogue, disembarked, successfully reaching the Unova Region, a continent far from the Hoenn Region.
"Yoji!"
The Tyrogue visibly relaxed after landing.
It only felt truly at ease when it was on solid ground.
Jing He had several tasks to accomplish in the Unova Region.
Firstly, he was delivering a package for his old school principal, which was the primary reason for his early arrival in Twin Dragon City.
Secondly, he had a request from Multivolt Beta and Mewtwo to check on a group of Pokemon in need and offer assistance within his capabilities.
Thirdly, he planned to visit the Unova Region's Pokemon Professor, Professor Juniper.
As fellow Pokemon researchers, Jing He and Professor Juniper had met once or twice, and he felt it was necessary to pay her a visit.
Fourthly, if the timing was right, he would stay in the Unova Region until the end of the Youth Master World Championship. However, if the timing was off, he would have to return to Hoenn first.
That was roughly his itinerary, traveling from the north to the south.
So, his first stop was the Twin Dragon Gym to deliver the package to Mr. Xia Qia.
With a simple plan in mind, Jing He followed the airport's signs and exited the terminal.
It was April, and the sun shone brightly.
Unova Region, Twin Dragon City.
A green-haired young man wearing a baseball cap sat under the shade of an umbrella outside a coffee shop, sipping coffee and discreetly observing the passersby with his eyes hidden under the cap's brim.
Flap, flap, flap!
Suddenly, a Doduo foraging on the ground seemed to sense something and looked at the green-haired youth. It inexplicably felt a sense of familiarity and flew towards the youth without any fear, flapping its wings.
The youth didn't seem surprised at all and allowed the Doduo to land on his shoulder.
Seeing its affectionate behavior, the green-haired youth smiled warmly, like the sun, gently picked up some bread crumbs, and placed them in front of the Doduo.
"Gugu!"
The Doduo happily started eating.
The youth seemed to understand the Doduo's thoughts, as if it was telling him how much it liked him.
Watching the Doduo's joyful expression, the green-haired youth's eyes narrowed slightly, and his mind flashed back to the events and experiences he had gone through in the past half a year.
His name was N, an orphan.
But he had an adoptive father named Ghetsis, full name Ghetsis Halmenia, one of the Seven Sages of Team Plasma.
N was chosen by the Seven Sages to be the "King" of Team Plasma! His adoptive father, Ghetsis, told him that Pokemon were unfortunate, controlled by humans, and that humans and Pokemon should not coexist. Instead, Pokemon should return to their own world.
Under this indoctrination, N also believed in this ideology.
He had a group of companions since childhood: a Quagsire with an injured eye, a Taillow with a disability, a Sigilyph with a broken wing, and others, all of whom had been harmed by humans.
This made N reject and even despise humans.
However, he also had two adoptive sisters, also Ghetsis' daughters, who were revered as the "Goddess of Love" and the "Goddess of Peace."
N's relationship with his adoptive father, Ghetsis, was not good, and it could even be said to be terrible, as Ghetsis would often beat and scold him when he was young. However, his two sisters, with whom he had no blood relation, were very kind to him.
Furthermore, both sisters told him that humans and Pokemon were not entirely opposed to each other and could actually get along harmoniously.
This left N in a state of inner conflict.
On one hand, there was the indoctrination from his abusive adoptive father and the experiences of his companions as proof.
On the other hand, there was the kindness of his loving sisters.
Caught in this dilemma, N never knew how to handle himself.
Until...
About half a year ago, he met someone online named "Jing Zhong Zhi He," a Pokemon psychologist who was said to have helped countless Pokemon.
N was unsure if he belonged to the human world or the Pokemon world, but after much deliberation, he decided to seek consultation.
Their communication was limited, but N saw something in the other person that he longed to see.
Help Pokemon!
Establish an ecosystem!
So, after much struggle, N escaped from the enormous castle that Kuiqi Si had built for him, a cage-like prison.
Fearing being tracked, N refrained from using any communication tools and cut off contact with Jing He.
However, he didn't completely ignore Jing He; instead, he gradually learned about "Jing He" through other channels, realizing that "Jing He" was the "Jing He Teacher" often mentioned by the public, a teacher praised by Professor Oak as a "Pokemon Psychologist."
Others might focus on Jing He's grand achievements, like winning championships, subduing Temporal Dragon, and riding Heatran.
But N was more interested in the little things.
He paid attention to the online and offline comments of those who had received Jing He's help, whose Pokemon were rescued and treated.
During his travels, N also realized that building an ecosystem solely with his money and without any social connections was nearly impossible.
However, he witnessed a lot along the way.
What left a deep impression on him was the trainer who refused to give up on an aged Furret, the trainer who braved the rain and darkness for over three hours to treat an injured Pokemon, and the trainer who would rather go hungry than let their Probopass go without food.
From these trainers' Pokemon, N heard the genuine love and affection they had for their trainers.
But he also encountered trainers who abused and humiliated their Pokemon.
A mix of dreams and nightmares, promises and betrayals.
Overall, though, the world had more dreams than nightmares, and promises kept outweighed betrayals.
The world wasn't as terrible as his foster father, Kuiqi Si, had described, but it wasn't without its flaws. It wasn't a black-and-white world; there was bullying, but there was also more kindness.
So, he returned.
If he couldn't create a suitable ecosystem for Pokemon on his own, he would use the power of the Plasma Team.
As the "King" of the Plasma Team, N believed he had the authority to do so.
Although his foster father, Kuiqi Si, hadn't treated him well, N respected his foster father's philosophy towards Pokemon.
At the very least, the Plasma Team's principle was to let Pokemon return to nature.
If N had a better way, his foster father would probably support him.
This thought made N feel much better.
The world was better than he had imagined.
That's why N could sit here today, watching trainers coming and going.
"Cooh!"
The Patrat seemed to sense N's mood and fluttered its wings, sharing his joy.
He continued observing the street.
In the grayish world, it came alive with colors as voices of "like" and "love" filled the air.
"That Stoutland really loves its trainer and is thinking about what to eat later. That Zebstrika looks annoyed, but it's actually seeking comfort from its beloved trainer."
N's heart felt lighter.
Suddenly, in the gray world gradually turning vibrant, N felt a surge of colors, like a rainbow, entering his vision.
Huh?
N instinctively looked towards the street.
He noticed that the vibrant colors came from a trainer and their Pokemon.
"Gengui, Bing Jiu Wei, Youji Las, Lotom," N whispered.
From these Pokemon's hearts, he heard not only their dependence on and love for their trainer but also...
Gengui: I'll haunt you forever if I have to!
Bing Jiu Wei: I'll freeze the world if I have to, technology will advance!
Youji Las: I'd rather starve than see him unhealthy!
Lotom: Gengui is right!
N: ???
N was baffled.
What's going on here?
This was the first time N had heard such thoughts.
But the colorful bond couldn't be a lie.
N became curious about this person.
However, their bicycle seemed high-tech, appearing leisurely but moving swiftly, passing by before he could see who it was.
Nevertheless,
N decided to meet this person before returning to the castle!
