Chapter 500: Ivan: No One Knows the Dark Lord Better Than Me!
### Chapter 500: Ivan: No One Knows the Dark Lord Better Than Me!
Sirius Black did not want to trouble Dumbledore with his personal affairs, but Ivan's words left him with no choice, causing him to hesitate for a moment.
"Ivan is right. This is very dangerous, and we might not be able to handle it. Besides, we should inform Dumbledore about destroying one of Voldemort's Horcruxes!" Lupin chimed in supportively.
"Fine, I'll head to Hogwarts right away!" Sirius Black let out a breath.
Having made up his mind, Sirius Black wasted no time and immediately Apparated away from the spot.
About half an hour later, Sirius Black reappeared in the underground library, his brows furrowed and his expression grim.
"What happened? Did Professor Dumbledore agree?" Harry quickly asked.
"I couldn't find Headmaster Dumbledore. He seems to be out of the school, and none of the Professors know where he is!" Sirius Black replied, sounding quite frustrated.
How convenient. Ivan was surprised but quickly figured it out. As the Headmaster, Dumbledore had plenty of responsibilities and couldn't spend the entire summer lounging around Hogwarts. Given that he had been cursed by the Horcrux and had limited time, he likely wouldn't waste a single day.
He might be at Mad-Eye Moody's house trying to persuade him to take on the role of the new Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor, or perhaps he was at the Ministry of Magic discussing the upcoming Triwizard Tournament.
"What do we do now? Should we wait for Professor Dumbledore to return?" Harry was at a loss.
But Sirius Black couldn't bear to wait any longer. Endless regret gnawed at his heart like a brush scraping against it. He turned to the House-Elf beside him and said bluntly,
"No! I don't have the patience to wait. What if Dumbledore isn't at Hogwarts the entire summer? I plan to go to that place with Kreacher and see what the situation is."
"You're going alone? Are you kidding me?" Lupin interrupted Sirius Black, visibly agitated.
"Let me explain, Remus! I don't want you to risk your life for my personal matters!" Sirius Black said solemnly, then tried to sound more relaxed as he continued.
"Have you forgotten? Kreacher clearly said that House-Elves can Apparate there without any restrictions. I won't need to drink that potion, so I can come back anytime without any danger!"
"Then what? How do you plan to retrieve Regulus's body from the icy Lake Bottom? By casting the Bubble-Head Charm and diving into the lake?" Lupin retorted sarcastically.
Sirius Black was momentarily speechless. That was indeed what he had in mind.
However, he wasn't planning to dive in recklessly. Instead, he intended to use a potion to put himself in a near-death state to fool the Inferi and retrieve Regulus's body.
It was a risky move, and if the Inferi in the lake discovered him, the consequences would be dire!
That's why Sirius Black didn't want Lupin to join him on this dangerous mission.
"You need my help, Sirius Black! We are best friends, aren't we?" Lupin looked at him resolutely.
Sirius Black and Lupin were at an impasse for a while, but Sirius Black eventually relented, saying with a bitter smile, "Alright, my friend, if you insist!"
Ivan watched as Sirius Black and Lupin seemed to reach an agreement, unsure of what to say.
They really do have some nerve! The Dark Lord set the trap personally, and even Dumbledore and Harry almost didn't make it back, let alone them.
Even if they don't drink the potion to avoid the most dangerous traps, the large number of Inferi is still a huge problem.
Ivan seriously doubts whether they can get past Voldemort's protective measures, not to mention raising the boat at the bottom of the lake.
Just Sirius Black and Lupin, trying to retrieve Regulus's body, is extremely risky. Chances are, they won't return.
Thinking about this, Ivan said to the two of them, "If you're going to go there, how about taking me along?"
"Absolutely not!" Sirius Black shook his head without hesitation and then earnestly advised, "You're different from us. You're still young and shouldn't take such risks!"
"Sirius Black is right! Although your skills far exceed those of your peers and you might even surpass me in some aspects of Magic, you still lack combat experience, especially against Inferi", Lupin added, equally concerned.
They were prepared to die on this mission, and Ivan, at just thirteen or fourteen, had no reason to accompany them to such a dangerous place.
Ivan wanted to say something but held back. In truth, no matter how many Inferi there were, they posed no danger to him.
Recently, he had fused with a Boggart's bloodline, allowing him to transform into an Inferi and blend in. Even if he was discovered, he could simply turn into a Basilisk and fight his way out!
He had personally tested this. The Basilisk's thick skin was extremely tough, and only powerful spells like Sectumsempra could penetrate it, not the Inferi's claws.
At worst, he could turn into an Owl and fly above, as the Inferi had no means to attack from the air.
However, blood magic was a hidden ace in the hole, and Ivan couldn't use this as an explanation. After some thought, he said firmly, "Professor Lupin, you're underestimating me! I've defeated the Dark Lord twice and destroyed three dangerous Horcruxes. When it comes to countering the Dark Lord, you two combined probably don't match me!"
Harry nodded, supporting Ivan. He recounted how, in his first year, Voldemort had possessed Quirrell and tried to steal the Philosopher's Stone, only to be defeated by Ivan.
"Also, in my second year, I noticed the strange behavior of Professor Lockhart, who was under the influence of a Horcrux. I exposed him and fought the Dark Lord in his fifth-year form, destroying the Horcrux that was about to bring him back to life!" Ivan also mentioned his other achievements.
Although Ivan felt these were past events and not entirely glorious, Lupin and Sirius Black were completely stunned, as they didn't know the full details.
They had heard about Ivan driving away two Defense Against the Dark Arts Professors, but the underlying reasons were new to them.
"You really defeated Voldemort? Twice?" Sirius Black took a while to recover from the shock.
As Order of the Phoenix members who had experienced the last Wizarding War, Sirius Black and Lupin were well aware of the Dark Lord's terror.
They had even faced Voldemort a few times, and just his presence, radiating vast Magic, had been enough to make them struggle to breathe!
The fact that most Wizards still dared not speak Voldemort's name, even years after his supposed death, revealed a lot about his power.
