Chapter 500: Horizon, Harvest Snail
Chapter 500: Horizon, Harvest Snail
It got away?
Naoki rushed forward and parted the grass, trying to find any trace of the Pikachu.
However, not only was there no sign of the Pikachu, but he couldn't even spot a single hair from it. It had completely vanished without a trace.
It's so fast...
Naoki had no choice but to return to the cliff with Gourgeist, gazing out at the distant blue ocean and the horizon.
The sea was stirring, with waves of white foam constantly crashing against the rocks below.
Indeed, the seascape here was breathtakingly beautiful.
The image of the flying Pikachu he had just seen flashed through his mind, and Naoki suddenly became curious. How had it come up with that method of flying, and what had driven it to want to take to the skies?
After all, not even Groudon had mastered that skill.
Pikachu, as a Pokemon species, was known for its many unique individuals.
There was Ash's Partner Pikachu, but also the Surfing Pikachu, Rock Star Pikachu, Hat-wearing Pikachu, Lady Pikachu, Wrestling Pikachu, and more.
However, compared to these other Pikachus, this flying Pikachu was clearly something special.
It had managed to combine moves on its own, unlocking a new combo move, breaking through the limitations of its species, which was not supposed to be able to fly, and taking to the skies!
However, flying using that method was extremely taxing on the body.
Naoki recalled the injured state of the Pikachu he had just seen, wondering just how many times it had failed before perfecting that combo move.
While his own Mudsdale could achieve something similar through the power of his cooking, it was still impressive for this Pikachu to have done it all through its own hard work and without the guidance of a trainer.
Undoubtedly, it was a Pikachu with a strong sense of discipline, a determined personality, and a habit of pushing itself to its limits.
Interesting!
Naoki's curiosity about this Pikachu grew, and he decided he wanted to observe it further. He called out to Gourgeist to help him search for it in the area.
"Gourgeist, help me look for that Pikachu over here. If you find it, don't approach it hastily. I want to observe its habits!" Naoki instructed.
"Agasisti!" Gourgeist gave him a puzzled look but nodded in agreement. "Agas!"
Thus, the boy and his Pokemon began their search for the Pikachu's traces in the vicinity.
Time passed slowly, and during their search, two wild Pokemon helped Naoki locate the stakes sealing the Harvest Snail.
Naoki took the opportunity to pull out those stakes and continued his search.
However, even after removing the last of the stakes, he still couldn't find any sign of the Pikachu.
Naoki: "..."
Gourgeist shook its head helplessly. "Agasisti..."
Forget it, capturing the Harvest Snail takes priority!
Now that the last seal on the Harvest Snail had been broken, Naoki knew he had to act quickly. If he didn't get there soon to capture it, the Harvest Snail would break free of its seals, absorb the nutrients from the surrounding vegetation, and turn this lush land into a barren wasteland.
"Gourgeist, let's go to that shrine we saw earlier!"
"Agas!"
Gourgeist took off from where it stood.
It was fast, and in just a few breaths, it had carried Naoki to the Shrine of Rotten Wood.
The black chains that had been wrapped around the shrine's door were now completely gone.
The shrine's door was half-open, and a Pokemon that resembled a snail, covered in withered yellow leaves and with scrolls wrapped around its body, was trying to squeeze its way out.
With its appearance, the surrounding grass and trees began to wither and turn yellow.
The Harvest Snail was absorbing the energy from the plants!
Upon witnessing this scene, Naoki gave his command: "Gourgeist, stop it! Use Fire Blast!"
"Agasisti!"
A stream of crimson flames erupted from Gourgeist's mouth, transforming into a blazing beam that shot towards the Harvest Snail.
In an instant, a pillar of fire erupted from below.
The scorching flames engulfed the Harvest Snail.
A hoarse cry came from below, followed by two burning vines that quickly burst through the fire and rushed towards Gourgeist.
Gourgeist swiftly dodged to the side, avoiding the attack.
Just then, a column of black light erupted from below, reaching for the sky.
The surrounding flames were snuffed out by the light, which radiated a palpable aura of malevolence.
Within the light, the Harvest Snail was enveloped in a layer of destructive energy, and countless calamities surged forth from its body.
Naoki instantly recognized the move.
It was Doom Desire—an exclusive move known only to the four Catastrophe Pokemon!
"Gourgeist, full-force Charge!" Naoki ordered.
As he spoke, Naoki jumped off Gourgeist's back and landed firmly on the ground.
Gourgeist, in perfect sync, began shifting its form while charging at the Harvest Snail with full force.
In front of the Shrine of Rotten Wood, the Harvest Snail, Gu Jianwo, lay there battered and battle-scarred, seemingly having lost all ability to fight.
"Well done!"
Naoki and Gourgeist high-fived, then pulled out a Poke Ball from their pocket and threw it towards Gu Jianwo.
"Click!"
The Poke Ball automatically opened, and Gu Jianwo's body turned into a beam of white light, getting sucked into the ball.
Once, twice...
The Poke Ball stopped shaking.
This signified that the capture was successful! Naoki walked forward to pick it up, and now, there was only one Catastrophe Pokemon left—the Gu Jianbao!
"Alright, thank you all for your help today!"
On top of the cliff, Naoki looked at the group of expectant wild Pokemon and smiled as he fulfilled his promise.
He took out the Energy Blocks and Pokeblocks he had been carrying and distributed them to the Pokemon in front of him.
"Fletchling, this is for you. Swinub, this portion is yours. Greedy Squirrel, take this box..."
The Pokemon who received the Pokeblocks happily indulged in the treats.
Naoki smiled as he watched this harmonious scene unfold.
He looked around, trying to find any trace of the Pikachu, but once again, he couldn't spot it anywhere.
After a moment's thought, Naoki decided to ask the group of natives for information.
"By the way, has anyone seen a Pikachu around here?"
Greedy Squirrel, who had been holding a Pokeblock and eating, paused upon hearing this: "Chik?"
"It has yellow fur and can generate electricity. This morning, it was flying by that cliff over there." Naoki pointed in the direction of the cliff.
The group of wild Pokemon in front of him all looked in that direction.
Soon, one of the Pokemon answered.
Fletchling flapped its wings: "Chirp! "(I've seen it! But we've never spoken!)
Swinub: "Humph?" (I think it can fly?)
Sun Seed: "Seed, seed!" (Amazing, I can't fly at all!)
Naoki: "It's fine, a lot of Pokemon can't fly. So, does anyone know where it lives?"
However, in response to this question, the group of Pokemon all shook their heads.
The Pikachu always kept to itself and never spoke to them.
Hearing this, Naoki couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed.
Seeing how cautious the Pikachu was of them, it was unlikely that it would be spotted in the area anytime soon.
Reluctantly, Naoki had to give up on observing the Pikachu.
He looked at the group of Pokemon in front of him and said, "Alright, I understand. Thank you for your help. We're leaving now, and I hope to see you all again sometime!"
After bidding farewell, Naoki mounted Gourgeist.
Gourgeist spread its wings, and with a powerful thrust of its hind legs, it leaped into the sky and began flying back toward the ranch.
Naoki turned to take one last look at the land.
It seemed that he and the Pikachu were just not meant to cross paths.
If that was the case, then perhaps the Pikachu was destined for another trainer. Maybe, in the near future, someone else would encounter it, and a new story would unfold.
Naoki retracted his gaze and left the place with Gourgeist.
About five hours after they left, a Pikachu poked its head out from a hidden corner.
It slowly made its way to a spot where it could see the horizon and the sea, which was now shrouded by the dusk twilight. The Pikachu gazed at the sea for a moment before curling up under the trunk of a large tree and closing its eyes to fall asleep.
The Pikachu slept right through till dawn.
As if sensing something, it suddenly jolted awake and looked up at the sky.
After confirming the time, the Pikachu quickly got up and ran towards the coast.
Once it was a sufficient distance away, it started to discharge electricity while running in circles in the grass.
The Pikachu's speed increased, and due to inertia, the electric-type energy gradually formed a tornado vortex.
Seeing this, the Pikachu leaped high into the air, continuously bouncing to increase its altitude.
At that moment, the tornado, having lost the Pikachu's guidance, suddenly dissipated, leaving the Pikachu exposed in mid-air.
It quickly positioned its tail beneath itself to control the airflow and successfully hovered in the sky.
Meanwhile, in the distance, the dark sky gradually brightened.
A ray of dawn burst forth from the sea's horizon.
Following closely behind was a bright orange sun.
So beautiful!
Naoki and Gourgeist finally returned to the ranch at 5:15 in the evening.
As they landed, Zack's large truck was parked by the roadside.
Zack, with the help of his brother, Aiguanshi, was loading the goods sold from the ranch that day.
Upon seeing Naoki return, Zack greeted him, "Did you go out to run some errands?"
"Yeah!" Naoki smiled and nodded. "Recently, I've been receiving news about Pokemon in need of help, so I've been going out every day to rescue them."
Interacting with the seals of the four Catastrophe Pokemon, purifying the catastrophe energy within them, awakening their true nature—it all fit under the umbrella of 'rescue'.
Hearing this, Zack's eyes widened in surprise. "Did a fire break out somewhere?"
Naoki was taken aback for a moment before laughing it off. "Of course not. Some Pokemon were just trapped and couldn't get out on their own. Some trainers informed me about them, so I went to lend a hand."
"Oh, I see!" Zack exhaled in relief and then shouted, "Keep up the good work! If there's anything you need help with, don't hesitate to ask! Oh, and here's the payment for today's sales. I've already transferred it to your account!"
Naoki glanced at his Lotom phone and, as expected, found the transaction.
"Okay, I've received it," he nodded.
The advancement of technology was truly remarkable. Ever since electronic payments were introduced, they had quickly swept across the globe.
Even Zack and his brother had embraced this new method.
"Well, I won't keep you then. The neighboring ranch is waiting for me, so see you later!"
Zack climbed into the truck, sticking his head out the window to wave goodbye to Naoki.
"See you later!" Naoki returned the farewell.
As Zack's truck drove away from the ranch, Naoki turned to watch it until it was out of sight. Only then did he turn back, intending to prepare the inversion tea to reverse the catastrophe energy within Gu Jianwo.
However, as soon as he turned, he noticed that Gudinglu and Guyuyu had somehow appeared nearby without him noticing.
Guyuyu floated in the large cauldron atop Gudinglu's head, only her jade-shaped eyes visible as she looked outward.
Gudinglu couldn't help but ask, "Moo moo?" (Naoki, I'm curious—who have you brought back this time?)
Naoki didn't hide the truth. "It's Gu Jianwo."
"Moo moo!" (So it's that old guy!)
Upon hearing this, Gudinglu hurriedly urged, "Moo moo!" (Wait! Don't release that old guy yet. If you do, your ranch and all the crops you've planted will be in big trouble. Go and make your dish! Change him back to his original state!)
Guyuyu added, "Gu yuu." (Indeed, that one absorbs energy from plants. Once, he caused an entire forest to wither and vanish in a short time.)
Seeing the concern Gudinglu and Guyuyu had for the ranch, Naoki couldn't help but smile.
"Rest assured, I'm aware of that. I'm going to make a dish right now to help him regain his original form.)
Gudinglu: "Moo moo!" (Then we'll leave that old guy to you!)
Naoki nodded.
He headed into the living room and used the Inversion Water to brew a cup of inversion tea.
Soon, a cup of inversion tea was ready.
Naoki went back to the ranch, and to prevent Gu Jianwo from damaging the crops, he specially invited Re Crown over to help with protection.
Once Re Crown took up her position, Naoki took out Gu Jianwo's Poke Ball.
With a flash of white light, Gu Jianwo's massive body appeared in the grass.
Perhaps influenced by the catastrophe energy within him, the grass beneath his feet withered instantly.
Compared to Gudinglu and Guyuyu, Gu Jianwo was clearly affected by a stronger malevolent force, and his mind was not as clear as theirs.
Fortunately, with Re Crown's help, even if Gu Jianwo had the strength of twelve, he wouldn't be able to exert it.
With Re Crown's assistance, Naoki fed the inversion tea to Gu Jianwo.
As the tea was consumed, a brilliant white light burst from Gu Jianwo's body.
Then, a miraculous scene unfolded.
The withered, yellow leaves on Gu Jianwo's body transformed into vibrant, fresh green leaves, and his cloudy eyes gradually became clear and lucid.
A gentle power emanated from his body and flowed into the earth.
The next second, Naoki witnessed the grass that had just withered from Gu Jianwo's absorption of energy return to its vibrant, lush state!
