Chapter 500: Age Potion
Chapter 500: Age Potion
When Fred and George returned to the Great Hall with Li Jordan, they became more cautious, especially after realizing Fleur's Veela heritage. The initial attraction seemed less intense now.
However, they didn't dare linger too long by Fleur's side. After a brief chat, they quickly found an excuse to move away and join Li Jordan.
"Has anyone put their name in yet?" Fred asked.
"Not yet... Wait, here comes Krum," Li Jordan said, pointing towards the entrance.
The Durmstrang students entered, led by their Headmaster, with Viktor Krum by his side.
The students surrounding the Firebolt Cup stepped back to let them through, watching intently.
Over a dozen Durmstrang students lined up, crossing the Age Line one by one, and tossed their parchment with their names into the Firebolt Cup. Each time, the blue-white flames would quickly turn red, spitting out sparks.
"I wonder..." George whispered to Kyle, "What if the Firebolt Cup thinks someone is too terrible and spits out their name, crumpled into a ball?"
Kyle couldn't help but laugh at the image. "The entire school would probably be happy for a whole year."
Unconsciously, they glanced at the Firebolt Cup.
But even after the last person tossed in their parchment, the anticipated scene didn't occur.
Fred seemed a bit disappointed.
"Maybe it's because they are all old enough," George said after a moment of thought.
The two ran off to the side, whispering, seemingly discussing something.
"Never mind them," Cona said to Fleur, "Did you bring your parchment?"
"Yes, I did," Fleur replied, turning back and nodding. "But I need to wait for Madame Maxime... Oh, here she comes."
As she spoke, the Beauxbatons students entered the Great Hall.
Fleur quickly ran over and, under Madame Maxime's arrangement, joined the others in placing their named parchments into the Firebolt Cup.
Fleur had wanted to stay, but Madame Maxime seemed to have something to say, so she had no choice but to leave with her.
Now, only Hogwarts students remained in the Great Hall.
"Am I late?" Cedric's voice came from behind.
"As long as it's before evening, it's not late," Kyle replied, turning back. "Have you written your name?"
"Actually, I wrote it last night," Cedric said, taking out a neatly cut parchment with the words "Cedric Diggory - Hogwarts" written on it.
The parchment template had been posted on the Common Room door earlier, so they just had to copy it.
"Are you guys ready?" Cedric asked. "We can put them in together."
"Bang!"
At that moment, a loud cracking sound came from beside the Firebolt Cup.
A figure seemed to be playing a Bludger, drawing a beautiful arc in mid-air before crashing heavily onto the ground ten feet away.
"Ouch!"
Ron rolled on the ground, covering his arm. Another cracking sound, and a tuft of messy white hair sprouted on his chin.
The surrounding students burst into laughter, including Harry, who had just run over to help Ron up.
"I told you before..." Hermione looked at Ron, who was covering his face and refusing to get up. "Professor Dumbledore must have thought of something like the Age Potion. You just didn't believe it."
Harry's face carried a hint of relief as he silently slipped the bottle in his pocket.
Fortunately, he had hesitated earlier; otherwise, he might be lying on the ground now.
"It seems it's not about age after all.
"Fred and George must have sneaked over here without us noticing. They were definitely involved in what just happened."
"Ron bought two bottles of Age Potion from us last night," Fred explained.
"I knew he would try to put his name in, but I didn't expect him to be so impatient..." George said.
"Even though we didn't see the scene of the Flame Cup throwing out Ron's name..."
"But a bearded Ron wouldn't be bad either..."
The two of them laughed so hard they couldn't stand up straight.
When Autumn also walked into the Great Hall, Cedric couldn't wait to say, "Let's go too!"
"I've been thinking the same," Fred said with a laugh, and was the first to walk over.
As they approached, the people around them immediately made way, just like when they had seen the Beauxbatons and Durmstrang students earlier.
Fred was the first to cross the Age Line, followed closely by George, then Cedric, Autumn, Conna...
Kyle was the last one, and as he stepped over the Age Line and dropped the parchment in his hand into the Flame Cup, the crowd erupted in excited cheers.
The Hufflepuff students were especially enthusiastic, cheering loudly for Kyle and Cedric.

"Why didn't anyone shout our names!" George complained, "Are all the Gryffindors still sleeping?"
The Gryffindors in the Great Hall all silently turned away, pretending they hadn't heard.
Their top choice, Angelina Johnson, hadn't arrived yet.
Only Li Jordan was polite enough to shout a couple of times, but that was it. When Angelina walked into the Great Hall, his cheers were clearly louder than before.
This made Fred and George so angry they chased after him to beat him up.
At this moment, Ron, who was playing ostrich on the ground, was also pulled up. Harry was preparing to take him to the school hospital to see if there was a way to remove the beard.
Hermione, who was at the back, hesitated for a moment, then suddenly turned and walked towards the Flame Cup.
Harry also noticed her action and quickly reminded her, "Wait, Hermione, you wouldn't want to grow a beard too, this is no joke..."
Before he finished speaking, he was surprised and his mouth hung open.
Because Hermione directly crossed the Age Line and smoothly threw her own name into the Flame Cup.
"You have a way to deceive the Age Line, but you didn't tell us!" Ron said angrily, "You must have found it amusing to see me make a fool of myself."
"I don't think breaking the rules is a fun thing at all!" Hermione said sternly, "I just turned fifteen last month."
"What?" Ron was stunned, remembering that Hermione's birthday was September 19th, but his birthday was in March. Even he couldn't do it, why could Hermione...
"In fact, I'm a year older than all of you," Hermione continued, "If I was born twenty days earlier, I should be in the fifth year now.
This...
Harry and Ron looked at each other, they had always thought Hermione was younger than them.
A hint of envy flashed in Ron's eyes, "It's so good to be able to participate in the Triwizard Tournament..."
"Don't be silly, I don't think I'll be chosen." Hermione said, "I just don't want to miss out on this grand event. Throwing my name in is also a way to be part of it, isn't it?
"Let's go, I hope Madam Pomfrey can help you get rid of these beards before the Halloween banquet... unless you want to attend the banquet with them."
Not just Hermione, most of the students basically had the same idea as her.
On Saturday, most of the fifth-year and above students at Hogwarts, including a small portion of the fourth-year students, threw their names into the Flame Cup.
