Chapter 50: The Plan
Chapter 50: The Plan
As Bai Wei turned her attention to Jiang Cheng, several members nearby also looked his way, their expressions varying.
Jiang Cheng, who was resting, noticed this and smiled, "It's me, the guy selling roasted sweet potatoes on the street. I've met Senior Sister Bai before."
Sun Xiaoli whispered something into Bai Wei's ear.
"Oh, I see," Bai Wei realized and then smiled, "I've thought about you becoming a member of our Martial Arts Academy, but I didn't expect your actions to be so swift, and you're already a premium member. How's your practice going these past two days? Any issues?"
Upon hearing this, the male members looked both perplexed and envious.
There's no need to elaborate on the envy.
Being guided by a beautiful woman, even if she isn't part of the core group of the academy, is a fortunate thing.
The confusion, however, was about this boy who was just a street vendor selling roasted sweet potatoes. He had only been at the academy for two days, yet he had already caught the attention of Senior Sister Bai. What was the relationship between these two?
Jiang Cheng shook his head, "Thank you for your concern, Senior Sister Bai. It's mainly because Senior Brother Zhao is so helpful and always answers my questions, so I don't have any doubts for now."
At this moment, he noticed the gazes of those around him.
Therefore, he didn't want to get too close to this "Academy Beauty."
Moreover, that Senior Brother Xiao was clearly acting like a lickspittle. Lickspittles aren't scary, but a lickspittle with strength is. You never know what they might do for the object of their affection.
"Senior Brother Zhao is a good man, indeed. Alright, if you have any questions in the future, you can ask Senior Brother Zhao or come to me."
Bai Wei smiled at Jiang Cheng and then waved goodbye to Sun Xiaoli, who was standing beside her, and headed towards the third floor.
"Good morning!" Sun Xiaoli greeted Jiang Cheng with a smile as she walked over.
"Good morning," Jiang Cheng nodded back at her and then continued practicing his foundation training.
A couple of members couldn't hold back their curiosity.
Taking advantage of Sun Xiaoli's departure, they pulled her aside to a quiet spot and quietly asked about the relationship between the two.
Upon hearing this, Sun Xiaoli's eyes widened, and her delicate face showed disbelief. Then, she burst out laughing.
"Where are your minds wandering? What kind of relationship are you imagining? They're just ordinary friends. Senior Sister Bai likes the sweet potatoes he roasts and says they're especially sweet, like the ones from her childhood. What are you guys thinking? You don't think Senior Sister Bai would fancy him, do you?"
Sun Xiaoli couldn't stop laughing.
Not only Senior Sister Bai, but she herself wouldn't look twice at that guy.
"No, no, we're just curious," the three members around her breathed a sigh of relief.
"Yeah, yeah, it's just that when we came, we didn't see Senior Sister Bai being so enthusiastic, so we were curious."
"Oh, I see. But are the sweet potatoes he roasts really that delicious? Even Senior Sister Bai can't stop praising them?"
"To be honest, his sweet potato roasting skills are amazing. Every time I go to buy some, there's a crowd around him. I guess that's how he can afford the premium membership," said Sun Xiaoli, glancing at Jiang Cheng in the distance.
She felt that he was just an ordinary guy, the kind you wouldn't notice in a crowd.
"That's true, but if we get the chance, we can try his sweet potatoes."
"Yeah, let's see how good these sweet potatoes are that even Senior Sister Bai praises."
This incident was just a small interlude.
After about ten minutes, Jiang Cheng no longer felt like anyone was paying attention to him.
As it approached 9 o'clock, Zhao Xiangyu arrived on the second floor, chatting and laughing with someone. Most of the time, Zhao was the one talking, while the other person listened.
As he approached Jiang Cheng, Zhao Xiangyu stopped and extended his hand to introduce him, "Jiang Shidi, this is Senior Apprentice Zeng, the one I mentioned to you before. He's skilled in Stick Technique, and you've been practicing the Short Stick for a few years, right? Today, Senior Apprentice Zeng will be guiding everyone, so if you have any related questions, feel free to ask him."
Senior Apprentice Zeng, this is the new member who just joined our Martial Arts Academy yesterday. Jiang Cheng is a diligent and hardworking young man. He came early this morning."
"Senior Apprentice Zeng!"
Jiang Cheng quickly greeted him while also observing the other man.
The latter appeared to be in his early thirties, with thick, powerful eyebrows and a pair of deep, dark eyes. His facial features were sharp, giving him a stern look, not someone who seemed skilled with words.
"Hmm."
Senior Apprentice Zeng acknowledged with a sound.
"Don't mind him," Zhao Xiangyu said with a smile. "Senior Apprentice Zeng is like this, but if you seek his guidance, he'll definitely teach you whatever he knows."
Senior Apprentice Zeng nodded.
"Alright, you go over there first. Jiang Shidi just joined, so I need to teach him the fundamentals properly."
"Okay."
Senior Apprentice Zeng, true to his nature, was as sparing with his words as gold and headed towards the more crowded area.
"Senior Apprentice Zeng!"
"Senior Apprentice Zeng!"
Several other members also greeted him.
Jiang Cheng didn't know, but these elders were well aware that among the Master's disciples, Senior Apprentice Zeng's strength could rank in the top two.
"You've been practicing Foundation Training all morning?" Zhao Xiangyu asked.
"Yes," Jiang Cheng smiled.
"Good, then show me one more stance."
In the following time, Zhao Xiangyu corrected a few movements and demonstrated the Billowing Exercises he taught the day before, offering guidance as he went. Then, he headed upstairs.
Apparently, the person guiding on the second floor wasn't always the same; it was likely a rotating schedule.
Jiang Cheng practiced for a while longer, and when he saw it was 10:00 am, he knew it was time to leave.
Glancing at Senior Apprentice Zeng in the distance instructing others, Jiang Cheng felt an urge to spar with him in Stick Technique.
After all, practice had proven that actual combat was the faster way to gain experience points.
But he was new here, and the other party was a senior.
He'd wait a little longer.
Carrying his Short Stick, he quietly went downstairs.
For the next few days, he'd come in the morning to practice.
After a few more days, when his grandmother was completely at ease, he'd come back in the evenings.
During this time, he also wanted to deal with another matter.
Liu Yang had repeatedly caused him trouble, and the last time, he had even brought along several people with the surname Jiang. If he hadn't secured his position by becoming a member, who knows what would have happened yesterday? So, as the ringleader, Liu Yang and his two companions would not be let off easily.
Including the Jiang surname group, the original body had been driven to near bankruptcy by them. If not for Chen Sao's help, they would have been ruined long ago. Yesterday, they had come for him again, and before leaving, they had thrown his membership card on the ground, clearly not considering him a threat.
A cold light flashed in Jiang Cheng's eyes.
The Jiang surname group wasn't an easy bunch, and there were many of them. It wouldn't be too late to take action when his Stick Technique improved, and it had to be done discreetly, without being discovered.
But what was there to worry about with those three thugs led by Liu Yang?
If a tiger doesn't show its might, it's mistaken for a sick cat.
He'd try to find them in the evening; if he couldn't, it was no big deal. He could ask others to find out the three men's addresses, which shouldn't be too difficult.
