Chapter 50: Securing the Titanium Crystals
Chapter 50: Securing the Titanium Crystals
After another half hour, the mining operation finally concluded, and the exact number of titanium crystals they had extracted was finally tallied.
Song Zhao and Shen Wenjie went through the numbers multiple times, and the yield from this micro titanium crystal vein gave them a pleasant surprise.
Compared to their initial estimate of 1,000 to 2,000 crystals, the actual number was significantly higher.
"Who would have thought we'd end up with 2,420 titanium crystals? Looks like we've had some good luck," Shen Wenjie said, a smile spreading across his face. Titanium crystals were a strategic resource, and even if they had only mined 200, it would have been worth the time they invested.
Song Zhao was also excited, but after a moment, his eyes flickered with unease, as if he wanted to say something but held back.
Shen Wenjie, noticing this through the communication projection, spoke up.
"Lao Song, if you have something to say, just spit it out. There's no need to hold back between us."
Song Zhao gathered his thoughts and carefully explained.
"Lao Shen, you know who that person was, right? Do you think Zhu Kang will report this to Zhu YaoKui?"
Hearing Song Zhao's concern, Shen Wenjie's smile faded, and his expression turned serious.
As the head of the Jiangyuan Spark Bureau's enforcement team, Shen Wenjie had access to a wealth of information, and he knew Zhu Kang's background all too well.
The initial excitement over the titanium crystals had momentarily pushed this concern to the back of his mind, but now that Song Zhao had brought it up, Shen Wenjie felt a heavy weight on his shoulders.
With Zhu YaoKui's influence in Jiangyuan City, if he were to investigate and find out about this, removing Shen Wenjie from his position as enforcement team leader would be as simple as a word.
What about the laws of the Dawn Star Kingdom? Don't be ridiculous. In this era of the star seas, where extraordinary abilities are prevalent and floating lands are far apart, the Dawn Star Kingdom and the entire Spark Human civilization have only one universally recognized law:
Battleships and higher-tier Spark warships are not allowed to engage in any form of internal conflict.
Aside from that, as long as one doesn't do something shockingly outrageous, like using a Spark cruiser to massacre civilians or engaging in a public battle with over a hundred Spark cruisers, no one would seriously investigate.
Feeling anxious, Shen Wenjie looked at Song Zhao.
"Lao Song, do you have a solution? Just say it. You've only been in Jiangyuan City for twenty years, so you might not be aware of everything.
Zhu YaoKui may seem amiable now, but that's only since he became the head of Jiangyuan's top Spark Academy. According to my father and others, over a hundred years ago, he was a ruthless killer."
Worried that Song Zhao might not take this seriously, Shen Wenjie added:
"If he finds out about us, even if I can convince the bureau chief to plead on our behalf, it probably won't help."
Song Zhao nodded, fully agreeing with Shen Wenjie's assessment.
In fact, he knew a great deal about Zhu YaoKui. This man had been a Spark warship captain for over two hundred years and wielded almost absolute power in Jiangyuan City. How could Song Zhao not pay attention to such a figure?
It was precisely because of this knowledge that he was always on edge.
As for the bureau chief Shen Wenjie mentioned, he was the head of the Jiangyuan Spark Bureau, a position of high authority, but he was currently stuck at the peak of the second rank. While he might have some influence with Zhu YaoKui, it wouldn't be much.
After some consideration, Song Zhao shared his thoughts.
"In that case, I'll mention this to my old man. If he intervenes, Zhu YaoKui will likely stay out of it, but we'll probably have to give up half of the titanium crystals."
Song Zhao had hesitated to bring this up because of the significant cost. If his father were to get involved, they would have to give up a substantial portion of the titanium crystals, a resource that even high-ranking Spark warship captains couldn't resist.
Shen Wenjie felt a pang of pain at the thought of losing so many crystals. If it were just between him and Song Zhao, he could have taken at least 1,000. However, after some thought, he gritted his teeth and agreed. Compared to the titanium crystals, his life was far more important.
Even if Zhu Yao-kui might not necessarily intervene, it’s always better to be safe than sorry.
"Alright, let's do it this way. You take half to visit the old man, and the remaining 1,210 titanium crystals will be split between us, 505 each. The last 200 will be evenly distributed among the seven young ones!"
It was a very reasonable distribution, and Song Chao quickly agreed. They each stored their 505 titanium crystals, and the remaining 200 were left for the seven psionic shuttles to divide among themselves.
After sternly warning them not to reveal any information about the titanium crystals, the nine ember fleet ships vanished, quickly heading toward the White Tower Floating Land.
Once they entered the White Tower Floating Land, three of the psionic shuttles split off from the fleet, heading to other cities within the floating land.
The seven psionic shuttles that remained were captained by Song Chao and Shen Wenjie’s most trusted descendants. The three that had just split off were directly summoned by Song Chao. If Song Chi were here, he would recognize them as his cousins, the sons of his uncle and great-uncle, all of whom were older and had awakened their powers years before him.
Additionally, Shen Qing, one of Shen Wenjie’s descendants, who had agreed to explore the ruins with them, was also part of the group.
...
At the Marketplace of All Realms, Song Chi stepped out of the all-attribute training room, his face filled with excitement.
Feeling the significant boost in his strength, he marveled at the powerful effects of the high-grade body tempering potion combined with the 700-year-old deep water clam pearl.
Just a day after breaking through the Guiding Technique, he had achieved another breakthrough. The blood energy fluctuations and overall physical condition he emitted now clearly indicated that he had reached Guiding Technique Level 7.
In less than five days, the Guiding Technique had soared from Level 5 to Level 7, an astonishing speed.
If he had been training normally, it would have taken at least three years to achieve such a breakthrough.
Song Chi felt a bit unsteady on his feet, his body experiencing a strong sense of discoordination.
After a careful assessment, he realized that this was due to the rapid changes in his physique over the past few days, which his body was still adjusting to.
This realization brought a sense of relief to Song Chi.
When he first emerged from his seclusion, he had felt a bit regretful for not using the high-grade body tempering potion mixed with the 900-year-old deep water clam pearl all at once.
Due to his current physical condition, he had to wait until he broke through to Guiding Technique Level 9 before using it.
Now, he was glad he hadn’t used that last high-grade potion. Another intense boost would have caused significant damage to his body.
While rapid progress in cultivation is good, exceeding what one can control can lead to a different kind of forced growth, which can irreparably damage a cultivator’s foundation.
Feeling his current state, Song Chi decided against leaving the marketplace and turned back into the all-attribute training room.
This time, he didn’t continue practicing the Guiding Technique. Instead, he began moving his body vigorously, trying to quickly adapt to the sudden surge in strength and repair the minor damage to his foundation.
Half a day later.
Click!
The bedroom door opened from the inside, and Song Chi, who had now mostly adapted to his newfound strength, stepped out of the room. His eyes lit up when he saw that his father was still at home.
However, unlike usual, Song Chao didn’t sit on the sofa but stood straight, giving off a cautious and careful impression.
