Chapter 50: I See!
Chapter 50: I See!
"Hahahaha! I'm older than you, you young scamp, Saggy! Don't tell me you're already out of steam, unable to replicate the force of that punch?" Kapu threw his head back and laughed heartily.
This remark darkened Sag's expression even further.
He was in his normal form now, not suffering from a loss of power, but after using the 'Heaven Destruction Fist,' he was indeed running low on energy.
The Six Kings Cannon-Heaven Destruction Vitality he had used earlier had also drained a considerable amount of his strength, and the remaining power had been channeled into the Heaven Destruction Fist, rapidly depleting his stamina, making it impossible to maintain the Dragon Breath Style stance.
He didn't know about Kapu's 'King's Fist,' but hearing his mention of gathering power, he could roughly guess what was going on—it was probably a technique that involved channeling all his body's power.
This punch of Sag's was his true trump card. Up until now, he had only used it once before when he fell into the ocean and encountered a Sea King. The force of his punch had been enough to leave a massive hole in the Sea King.
He hadn't dealt with a powerful opponent like Kapu before, but he dared say that even at his peak, Ennio would have been seriously injured or even killed by this punch.
Yet this punch had only managed to inflict some minor injuries on Kapu.
Was this the strength of a famous powerhouse of the Grand Line? He wouldn't be able to use a second punch for a while.
Sag didn't even like moves like the 'Heaven Destruction Fist.' This style of draining all his energy, with no regard for defense, clashed completely with his personality, which preferred careful planning.
To put it nicely, it was recklessly brave; to put it bluntly, it was asking to die after attacking.
But if he hadn't attacked just now, he might have already fainted.
These kinds of powerful fighters might seem like they lacked technique and only knew how to swing their fists, but their bodies were unbelievably sturdy, and they also possessed both offensive and defensive Haki. In this case, using brute force was much more effective than trying to be flashy and elegant.
Especially when their brute force could also achieve that elegant, flashy effect!
"You little scamp, Saggy, I heard you took down Ennio, that idiot who used to be our vice admiral. What was the situation with Oikote when you beat him?" Kapu suddenly asked.
"If you want to know, go find out yourself!" Sag replied, adjusting his breathing and exhaling slowly. He got into a stance but kept his eyes on their surroundings, glancing around covertly.
There was no way he could win in a fight—the gap between their strengths was too wide. To be honest, he hadn't come here intending to battle; he had only come to recruit crew members.
If he had tried to escape earlier, he wouldn't have made it, but now...
His eyes shifted beyond the bridge, and he saw that the stretch of the bridge they had been on was now full of pits and cracks, and its position had lowered, making it look perilously close to collapsing.
Beyond the bridge, in the open sea, the Black Ship was circling around the dog-head warship.
They had a small crew, so they couldn't maneuver the ship with full power, but they had Reinitya on board, and her power-enhancing ability could directly boost the ship's propulsion, making it faster than the large warship chasing them.
"Moon Walk!"
Sag stamped on the air and rose swiftly, and once he was in the air, he pushed off with both feet, creating afterimages.
"Storm Leg—Confusing Current!"
Swish, swish, swish! Countless massive slashes shot out from his legs, directed at the bridge.
"Be careful not to cause any damage!"
Kapu laughed heartily and with just a punch, created a burst of impact that shattered all the Storm Leg slashes.
Bogart also drew his sword and with one swing, sliced through the incoming Storm Leg slashes, sending his own slashes soaring into the sky.
Of course, the slashes of a swordsman would be stronger than those created by leg techniques.
"Are you planning to shatter the bridge and then escape?" Bogart asked coldly.
A smile played at the corners of Sag's mouth as he bounced in the air, his voice light as he replied, "The bridge will shatter without my help."
Boom!!
A row of cannonballs suddenly blasted the side of the bridge, causing the surroundings to shake. This sudden bombardment also caused Kapu and the observing Bogart to turn their heads.
The black ship had somehow turned around and was now bearing down on them, its main cannon raised with a wisp of smoke still visible in its barrel.
And somewhere along the line, the pursuing dog-head warship had lost one of its masts.
"That was your Storm Leg earlier!" Bogart exclaimed.
Whoosh!
Without a word, Sag continued to kick out with his Storm Leg, sending a relentless barrage of slashes at the bridge.
The previous Storm Leg had been a distraction, meant to draw their attention away from the few slashes that had flown outward.
The black ship was already fast, and it had only been held back by the warship's pursuit. But now that Sag had used his Storm Leg to cut one of its masts, he had also given a signal.
Everyone on board knew what he intended to do—clearly, he was planning to bring down the bridge. Even if Reinitya didn't quite grasp the situation, Lily certainly knew what to do.
Cutting the mast had also given the black ship free rein.
First, they would bring down the bridge, then create chaos, and with the other ship disabled, there was no way they could be pursued.
Moon Walk pursuit?
While Kapu might have the higher mastery of the martial arts, when it came to the degree of application, this old man couldn't compare to him.
Even for someone like him, using the Moon Walk to stay in the air would only last a day at most, and it couldn't be interrupted during that time. And while the Moon Walk was very fast for local movement, it was impossible to catch up to the speed of a ship.
Especially the speed of the black ship, which was incredibly fast at full sail. Add to that the bombardment of cannons, and there was no way anyone could keep up.
Now, with the Storm Leg on one side and the fierce cannon fire on the other, he was bound to hit his mark. As long as the bridge collapsed, the personnel in this area would be successfully recruited.
It didn't matter if he couldn't beat Kapu; surely he couldn't escape? The chaos caused by the bridge's collapse would throw the Navy into disarray.
They would have to choose between chasing a single pirate and dealing with the riot on the bridge and throughout the kingdom!
"These young punks are pretty clever these days!"
Boom!
As the sound rang out, the descending Storm Leg was blasted away, creating a vacuum that Kapu stepped into. He raised a fist and struck out at Sag.
"If the bridge collapses, I'll get an earful from them, you brat!"
He stepped up to Sag's level and threw a rapid punch, the kind that Sag wouldn't normally be able to dodge while airborne, forcing him to take the hit.
But just as Kapu threw his punch, Sag adjusted his footing, and the fist barely grazed his body as he evaded the blow.
Kapu's eyes widened in surprise. "Oh?"
Sag's eyes widened as well as he fixed his gaze on Kapu, a fleeting red glint flashing in his pupils.
He had seen it!
He had perceived the trajectory of Kapu's attack, and as he had raised his hand, a premonition in his mind and senses had warned him of the fist's path, allowing him to dodge it.
That feeling—
Bang!
Just as Sag was about to further analyze this sensation, another fist came at him, sending him plummeting to the ground.
"Pahahahaha! You little scamp!"
Kapu laughed heartily in the air, baring his teeth as he dove down, his fist still clenched. "I won't let you get away with this, you hear me, brat!"
