Chapter 50: I Only Teach Once
Chapter 50: I Only Teach Once
The grand mansion of the Great Gau.
"Teacher Jing He. Archer?" Great Gau came out to greet, also noticing Jing He and Archer standing beside him.
"Turns out you were talking about Great Gau, Jing He."
Clearly, Great Gau and Archer knew each other. After all, one was the youngest inspector of the Kanto region and a member of the Dragon family, while the other was the heir of Devon Corporation. Their reputations were not low, and even if they hadn’t met in person, knowing each other was inevitable.
However, Archer was a bit older than Great Gau, about the same age as Jing He.
Knowing each other made things easier, and Jing He didn’t need to introduce himself much, just a brief recount of the situation.
"Fossil Wing dragon?"
Great gau instantly showed interest.
As an enthusiast of steel and rock-type Pokemon, Great Gau naturally knew about fossil wing dragons. However, these Pokemon weren’t easy to find, even if they could be revived through fossil gene collection, the fossils weren’t that easy to come by.
But the current focus wasn’t on that.
"Great Gau, summon your armor bird."
"Sure."
Great Gau didn’t hesitate, throwing out a Poke Ball.
A gust of wind swept past, and the silver-armorg appeared, flapping its wings.
Archer's eyes lit up as he saw the Arm Org.
"Quite the impressive armor bird! It’s been raised very well."
At this point, Jing He believed Archer still had a lot of influence.
"Kaa~"
The Arm org landed beside Great Gau, nuzzling against him. Great Gau also laughed, giving a response.
This was the advantage of Great Gau and his Arm Org, their relationship was closer than Archer and the fossil wing dragon.
It seems you don’t need to step in.
Jing He looked at Gai Si.
"Kaa~"
Gai Si gulled his eyes, holding his breath.
It was dangerous.
He gave Great Gau a simple explanation of what needed to be done.
"So, Teacher Jing He, your meaning is to have my armor bird defeat Archer’s fossil wing dragon?" Great Gau confirmed, repeating the question.
"No," Jing He shook his head, "not just defeat, but crush."
"Crush?"
"Remember the time when Archer’s fossil wing dragon had trouble finding fossils? It’s fine if it’s less severe than that."
Great Gau cast a glance at Archer and the fossil wing dragon.
Not that you’ve offended Teacher Jing He?
"But, Teacher Jing He."
Great gau sighed:
"Have me defeat Archer and his fossil wing dragon, it’s a test, but 'crush' might be too much."
He was confident he wouldn’t lose to anyone, but he knew some of Archer’s strength, and the gap between them wasn’t far enough for him to “crush” Archer.
Even the relationship between the fossil wing dragon and Archer wasn’t close enough, intimate enough.
"I recommend your armor bird learn those moves, did it?"
"Learned them."
"Using that set of moves, no problem."
Great Gau rubbed his sunspot.
"Never practiced."
His previous strategies were all strong attack types, after all, based on his and his Pokemon’s strengths and characteristics, and most fellow trainers didn’t need those evasive moves.
He really didn’t have much confidence.
Win or lose was a small matter, but if it further aggravated the fossil wing dragon’s “condition,” it wouldn’t be good.
"Indeed."
Battling habits and strategies were slowly cultivated, not something that could change overnight.
"Are you ready, teacher?" Great Gau probed.
"Kaa?!"
Gai Si shook his head.
"Then let’s step back and let your metal weirdo do it." Jing He sighed.
Actually, the best way to rouse the fossil wing dragon’s passion for aerial supremacy was with flying-type Pokemon.
But Great Gau wasn’t sure.
After all, there was a bit of an age gap between them.
So, it could only be the metal weirdo.
"Alright!"
Great Gau and the metal weirdo stood firm, facing Archer and the fossil wing dragon.
The upcoming battle between the two champions, Jing He was quite looking forward to.
Was this not like the “Eight Master Battle”?
No, this wasn’t like the “Eight Master battle” with its incomprehensible excitement?
Jing He and Gai Si sat on the bench to watch the battle.
"Crunch, crunch."
Gai Si was even holding a bucket of popcorn, ready for the show.
"Where’s that from?"
Seeing the bucket of popcorn, Jing He was a bit taken aback.
"Kaa~"
Gai Si scanned the area, spotting a sunflora fleeing, and chuckled.
I said it was for me, do you believe it?
Jing He: “.”
That was a sunflora, not a cornflora. Whatever.
"Um, the taste is pretty good, more sugar next time."
He grabbed a handful and ate it.
"Kaa?"
Who will win?
"Great Gau."
Jing He said without hesitation.
How long had Aya been training his Fossil Wing Dragon? Besides, its type was completely disadvantaged, making it nearly impossible to win.
"Kak!"
Oh.
"Oh? You didn't know that my arrangement was a three-pronged strategy," Jing He said with a hint of irritation.
Huh?
Aya's Fossil Wing Dragon needed a challenge to set new goals.
Dai's Metallos lacked confidence, and this was a perfect opportunity to build it up.
Just these two?
"There's also Dai."
Jing He slowly explained, "Dai needs an evenly matched, or even slightly stronger opponent, to reignite his passion for Pokemon."
Finding a suitable opponent for Dai among his peers was difficult, but Aya, who was two years older, was just right.
This also fulfilled Zekromujin's request.
"Kak!"
Gastly suddenly understood, forming a thumbs-up with the black mist.
Smart!
As they spoke, the battle between Dai and Aya had already begun.
"Fossil Wing Dragon, Dragon Dance!"
Just as Jing He expected, Aya started by boosting Fossil Wing Dragon's stats, given its clear type disadvantage.
Following Jing He's advice, Aya had to command Fossil Wing Dragon with all his might; otherwise, the "treatment" would be ineffective.
"Metallos, use Bullet Punch to get close, then Metal Claw!"
However, Dai's battle experience wasn't lacking either. From the start, the synergy between Dai and Metallos was evident.
Using Bullet Punch's priority, Metallos, despite its heavy weight, seized the initiative.
The large, sharp claws inflicted significant damage on Fossil Wing Dragon.
"Roar!!"
Fossil Wing Dragon's eyes gradually turned red.
"Fossil Wing Dragon!" Aya called out, "Stay calm!"
Using Dragon Dance to boost stats would inevitably cost him the first move, but once the boost was complete, he could gradually regain the advantage.
"Flame Fang!"
Rooar!
Flames rose and coiled around its teeth.
Dai smiled confidently, "Metallos, Ice Punch!"
The clash of ice and fire: Metallos took a direct hit from Flame Fang, but in return, it slammed its frost-covered fist into Fossil Wing Dragon's wing.
With Metallos in close range, Fossil Wing Dragon's speed advantage was nearly nullified.
Moreover, luck seemed to be on Dai's side this time.
Frost appeared on Fossil Wing Dragon's wing.
Press the advantage!
"Metal Claw, again!"
Aya frowned and commanded, "Bite, then Flame Fang!"
On the side,
"Kak kak~~"
Gastly was getting excited.
These close-range clashes were actually quite thrilling.
But Jing He slowly furrowed his brow.
While the advantage was clearly with Dai, and he was successfully expanding it, it wasn't enough.
A few minutes later.
Bang!!
Metallos' Thunder Punch sent Fossil Wing Dragon plummeting from the sky, crashing heavily to the ground.
That hit.
Decisive!
"Ku!!"
Metallos let out an excited shout.
Aya immediately ran to the fallen Fossil Wing Dragon.
It was clear that while Fossil Wing Dragon had lost its battle capability, it woke up after a few seconds, its eyes bloodshot, showing signs of losing control.
It had a look of dissatisfaction, but it wasn't very obvious.
Clearly, Metallos had sparked its fighting spirit, but not enough to make it target Metallos.
Both Dai and Aya saw this.
'So, it has to be Armordrake, after all?'
'Or should we try again?'
Jing He glanced at the Armordrake.
It looked quite enthusiastic and eager to try.
"Looks like it's not enough, Teacher Jing He," Dai said as he walked over.
"I see that," Jing He nodded.
He fell into deep thought, not noticing the exchange of glances between Dai and Gastly.
Since he had accepted Aya's request and taken on Fossil Wing Dragon as a "patient," he had to do his best to treat it.
His reputation was on the line.
"Teacher, why don't you give it a try?" Dai suggested.
"Kak?"
Gastly's expression froze.
So, you're targeting me now?
"No, I mean, Teacher, you could command Armordrake."
Dai waved his hand to explain, "And I believe Armordrake would be willing to listen to you."
"Kak?"
Gastly looked at Jing He, skeptical.
Can you handle it?
Jing He's lips twitched, and he slowly stood up.
"Treatment is a must, but first, I need to understand Armordrake's condition."
Dai's face lit up, and he subtly exchanged a glance with Gastly.
Gastly even quietly floated out three fingers.
Three energy bars, as promised.
An hour later.
"Alright."
Jing He returned with Armordrake.
"Dai, I'll only teach you once."
