Chapter 5: Clearing the Game
Chapter 5: Clearing the Game
"Can Senior Brother really modify cultivation techniques?" Jiang Lingsu's eyes sparkled with a playful smile, adding a touch of allure to her charming face.
Modifying a cultivation technique was no easy feat, especially for a cultivator at the Lianqi realm.
Only Yuan Dan-stage cultivators and above had the qualifications to alter such techniques.
Thus, Jiang Lingsu paid no heed to Qi Yuan's words.
She took the jade slip containing the cultivation technique and, after a moment's thought, offered a word of caution, "Senior Brother, cultivation techniques are extremely important. Don't tamper with them recklessly, or you might stray from the path and fall into madness!"
Having only recently met Qi Yuan, she didn't want to overstep her bounds, so she simply gave a gentle reminder.
Qi Yuan looked at her and said with a hint of mystery, "Do you think that by not modifying the technique, everything will be fine?"
Jiang Lingsu was speechless.
It seemed that Senior Brother's mind truly had issues, and they were quite severe.
Ah, the Obsessive Lineage!
She didn't say more but took the jade slip back to her room.
"The Seven-Color Fire Refining Art?"
"A Jade-grade technique?"
"It looks quite ordinary."
She had originally hoped to use this technique to investigate the background of the Seven-Color Peak's Peak Master.
But it seemed rather average.
Although the Jade-grade technique was of decent quality, she didn't pay it much mind.
After all, in her family, Jade-grade techniques were a dime a dozen.
She carefully examined the contents of the technique.
"The latter part... was it modified by Senior Brother?"
"It seems he's quite skilled at deception."
"At least he managed to deceive me."
"The Ascension Tower contains ten thousand techniques, and it seems this one is among them. I wonder if Sister Yaya has any annotations."
Jiang Lingsu mumbled to herself, "She's the best at adapting techniques. If she has the time, I'll have her review the modifications. If Senior Brother cultivates it, at least he'll avoid detours."
...
Inside the thatched cottage.
Qi Yuan's attention was entirely focused on the game jade slip.
He had obtained this game jade slip a year ago.
He had been playing this game for about a year, and it was a typical boss-battling game.
The game map displayed their current location as the Moon-Gazing Continent.
Within the Moon-Gazing Continent, there were four forbidden lands and two deadly lands.
The map Qi Yuan was currently in was named Xuan Yuan Prohibition.
In Xuan Yuan Prohibition, there were various ferocious and violent demons.
There were snakes as thick as buckets, carnivorous flowers with sharp teeth, and beetles the size of tanks.
To Qi Yuan, these demons were merely experience points.
However, there was one demon in Xuan Yuan Prohibition that annoyed Qi Yuan and diminished his gaming experience.
That demon was a fox's tail resembling a brush, with a resounding name—Mad Quill.
Within Xuan Yuan Prohibition, Qi Yuan's character wore golden armor and was slaying enemies in all directions.
These powerful demons had no resistance against Qi Yuan's might.
"Mere level 50 demons dare to show off their skills before me?"
"Kill!"
Qi Yuan's sword swept across, and at level 80, he was wreaking havoc in Xuan Yuan Prohibition.
These days, Qi Yuan had been on a rampage.
When he first entered Xuan Yuan Prohibition, he was just a regular level 1 player.
The game was set in a deadly land.
After a year of playing, he had reached level 80 and could roam freely in Xuan Yuan Prohibition.
Currently, he was playing as a Rampaging Hooligan.
The demons in Xuan Yuan Prohibition trembled at his presence.
Slaying these demons in the Moon-Gazing Continent also greatly benefited his real-life cultivation.
Otherwise, how could he have achieved Lian Qi Yuan Man in just one year?
Even true geniuses would require at least a year to reach such a cultivation level.
In the game, his cultivation base could affect his real-life self, but only to a certain extent.
After all, his in-game character was incredibly powerful.
Just how powerful? Qi Yuan had no idea.
But defeating the leader of the Divine Light Sect with a single sword strike was no big deal.
However, in reality, he was merely a Qi Condensation novice.
"Once I take down the final boss, Mad Quill, I'll have completed this dungeon!" Qi Yuan thought to himself, feeling more motivated than ever.
He was determined to finish the dungeon today.
"I wonder what rewards I'll get," he mused.
"Maybe I'll get a harmless cultivation art as a reward?"
"Or even a simple Foundation Establishment Spirit Artifact would be nice."
As he thought about Mad Quill, Qi Yuan's eyes gleamed with intense battle intent.
This quill, in the form of a pen during the day, would transform into a stunningly beautiful fox demon at night, taking on a human-like form and exuding an enchanting allure.
These pens would often launch night raids, their favorite activity.
Once their prey was under their spell, just when things got intimate, they would reveal their fangs and transform into sharp pens, piercing the bodies of their victims in their most vulnerable spots.
Qi Yuan witnessed many demonic creatures falling prey to Mad Quill's charms within the Xuan Yuan Prohibition, and it was a truly pitiful sight.
While Qi Yuan was immune to Mad Quill's allure, he had to be cautious at night when he would typically go AFK.
At one point, he considered emulating a certain manga protagonist from another world by crafting a pair of iron pants for himself.
In the end, he decided to dig a hole and bury himself in the ground before logging off, thus avoiding Mad Quill's night raids.
"The final boss, Mad Quill, is only level 70. No big deal," Qi Yuan said to himself.
"I need to clear this dungeon quickly. I have to take my little pet out for a walk this evening."
Qi Yuan held a longsword and wore golden armor, his body emitting a colorful aura. Each of his sword strikes was accompanied by various special effects, making him quite the flashy fighter.
In other games, it would be immediately apparent that he was a big spender, and a rather flamboyant one at that.
Half an hour later, Qi Yuan burst into the Xuan Yuan Hall.
Wielding his greatsword, he shouted in a typical teenage fashion, "Where will you run, you demon!"
Timid in real life but bold in the game, he unleashed a powerful attack.
His cry was met with the terrified screams of Mad Quill.
With his longsword, he was unstoppable.
One by one, the Mad Quills shattered.
His experience bar steadily rose.
"Come out and face me, you demon!" Qi Yuan shouted, hoping to draw out the dungeon's final boss.
Unfortunately, there was no response.
All the Mad Quills were running around in panic.
Qi Yuan was having the time of his life, slaying them left and right.
Just then, a golden light flashed brightly.
The Xuan Yuan Hall began to tremble.
A pen with a fox-like tail emerged from the ground.
The sharp pen, like a sword, thirsted for a worthy opponent and lunged directly at Qi Yuan.
"Good thing I was prepared," Qi Yuan remained calm.
Before coming here, he had already devised a strategy.
Even without a plan, he wasn't afraid.
His strength was on full display.
"Summer Eight Cuts!"
Qi Yuan unleashed his most powerful sword technique.
Indeed, he wielded a sword but used a knife technique.
In an instant, the Mad Quill shattered.
Qi Yuan shrugged, "You only deserved one cut. Too weak.
I still have seven cuts left. I wonder who can withstand them and end my loneliness."
As the Mad Quill fell, the Xuan Yuan Hall began to collapse.
At that moment, a system prompt sounded in Qi Yuan's ear.
[Xuan Yuan Prohibition dungeon cleared. Rewards obtained.]
[Reward 1: Heavenly Dao Fragment x10.]
[Reward 2: Divine Quill.]
