Chapter 5: Ah Fu
Chapter 5: Ah Fu
After dinner, Li Qian returned to his room and immersed himself in the materials given by Gao Yaxin.
The collection included numerous videos of wild Green Scaled Dragons, some found in the wilderness and others near dimensional fissures.
These dragons were engaged in various activities, some feeding, some fighting, and others resting, each in their own unique way.
Breeders had captured these moments, likely to study the dragons' habits and environments, hoping to uncover clues related to their evolution.
Unable to find a breakthrough with the carp, Li Qian shifted his focus to the Green Scaled Dragons, a seemingly promising approach.
As he watched, Li Qian noticed a common pattern.
To be precise, it wasn't a discovery but a conjecture based on his past life's encounters with strange legends.
Fish Leap Over the Dragon Gate!
Indeed, as depicted in his past life's dramas, only by leaping over the Dragon Gate could a carp transform into a dragon.
And the carp, Ah Fu, possessed this very skill, Fish Leap.
This connection was too compelling to ignore.

Almost immediately after this thought, the system responded.
"Excellent, my conjecture is correct," Li Qian muttered, feeling delighted by the system's feedback.
Of course, the Dragon Gate didn't exist in the real world.
So, what did it symbolize?
As Li Qian watched the videos, he noticed a recurring element... waterfalls!
Yes, waterfalls!
In many videos, the Green Scaled Dragons were often seen near waterfalls.
This realization stirred Li Qian's emotions, and his thoughts began to race.
Climb the Waterfall!
The Climb Waterfall skill!
To achieve the literal act of leaping over the Dragon Gate, one would need not only a Beyond Limit-level Fish Leap skill but also a high-level Climb Waterfall skill or, alternatively, a Beyond Limit- a Beyond Limit-level Climb Waterfall skill.

What's missing?
A potion to stimulate the carp's evolution?
Li Qian's intuition was strong; he felt that discovering a potion to awaken the dragon bloodline would complete his research.
...
Li Qian's excitement grew as he pondered, and sleep was the last thing on his mind.
He delved into the materials, his thoughts racing, and before he knew it, it was late into the night.
"Qian, my boy, Teacher Zhu reminds you that learning takes time and patience. It's late; it's time to rest," his mother, Han Yuyin, said as she entered, knocking on the door.
Her words snapped Li Qian back to reality. He nodded, "I understand, Mom. I'll rest now!"
Li Qian wasn't intentionally ignoring his mother; he had been so engrossed in the materials that he lost track of time.
If it's content to be a salted fish, then there's nothing to be done. He didn't want to evolve, and Li Qian couldn't force it to evolve.
Li Qian didn't rely solely on verbal attacks.
Holding his tablet, he approached the fish tank and repeatedly played an evolution video.
a carp emitting an evolution light from its body, eventually transforming into a majestic green-scaled dragon.
After playing it once, it seemed to have no effect, so he played it again, and Ah Fu's attention was finally drawn.
"It's working," Li Qian said with delight.
Seeing Ah Fu's focused attention, Li Qian continued playing, showing no intention to stop.
As long as you notice, I don't believe you won't be infected by this blood-boiling evolution process.
Gradually, as Ah Fu watched more and more of the video, its state finally changed from being at ease. Its emotions stirred.
It stared intently at the video on the tablet, its tail flicking incessantly.
Guessing it was enough, Li Qian suddenly turned off the video.
Carp Ah Fu's fish eye rolled, and then it stared intently at Li Qian, unsure of the purpose of its owner showing it this video.
"Do you want to become the majestic and powerful green-scaled dragon in the video, with exceptional strength, able to fly and burrow?" Li Qian gently probed.
At this moment, he only felt that he was like a candy-stealing uncle.
He wasn't deceiving a child, but a fish.
"If you want to evolve into the green-scaled dragon, just turn around," Li Qian continued.
Carp Ah Fu glanced at Li Qian once more, slowly sinking to the bottom of the fish tank, showing no reaction.
Seeing Ah Fu's reaction, or rather, lack of reaction, Li Qian guessed something and said, "Ah Fu, since you're unwilling, then forget it. I remember, it's been nearly twenty years since you came to our home."
"Do you know why I want you to evolve?" Li Qian's voice deepened. "Look at your whiskers, you're getting old too. I remember, the average lifespan of carps is around twenty years, right?"
"If you don't evolve, there might not be much time left to live. At that time, this fish tank, this fish food, we can only buy another carp." After saying this, Li Qian sighed and prepared to leave.
Just as he was about to turn and leave, carp Ah Fu started to swim frantically.
Li Qian's steps halted, and a faint smile curved at the corner of his mouth.
Indeed, whether human or pet beast, both feared death.
Even though Ah Fu was just a carp, it was still tempted by the prospect of prolonging its life.
Thinking this, he turned back and said, "Ah Fu, you've changed your mind and want to evolve?"
"If you confirm you want to evolve, just turn around in place," Li Qian said.
This time, as soon as Li Qian's words fell, Ah Fu immediately started swimming.
In the fish tank, it turned around in place.
It was indeed tempted.
