Chapter 499: Interstellar Journey
Chapter 499: Interstellar Journey
Such a show-off... Qiao Sang silently facepalmed.
Battles were prohibited on the starship, so the fight naturally didn't happen.
The four of them found a spot in the dining area and sat down.
"What would you like to drink?" Officer Chen asked.
"Anything."
"Whatever."
"Cola", Qiao Sang said.
Officer Chen tapped a marked spot on the table, and a ten-centimeter holographic screen instantly appeared.
"Four colas", Officer Chen said.
The holographic screen promptly displayed the corresponding images, text, and quantity before vanishing.
A few seconds later, four colas materialized on the table.
Qiao Sang was momentarily stunned, thinking to himself, "Wow, they must have a Spatial Shift familiar working in the kitchen back there."
"You've been saying you wanted to meet Qiao Sang, right? Why are you so quiet now?" Officer Chen asked the girl across from him, who was wearing a leather beret.
Want to meet me? Qiao Sang picked up a cola, sipping it while looking over.
The girl blushed, but before she could speak, Officer Chen introduced her to Qiao Sang.
"She's Yang Jiayi, from Heavy Island Region. She's the champion of this year's National School Beastmaster League Individual Coordination Competition, Senior Division. She's been talking about wanting to meet you since she arrived in Yuhua Region yesterday."
After finishing, he glanced at Tang Yi and the other two. "I won't introduce Qiao Sang much further; you two already know him."
"Hello, I'm Yang Jiayi", the girl said softly, smiling politely, exuding a ladylike demeanor.
The champion of the national individual coordination competition, no wonder she dresses so fashionably and even dresses her familiar... Qiao Sang nodded in response. "Hello."
Tang Yi scratched his head. "We just competed recently; you haven't forgotten me, have you?"
"Of course not, the runner-up", Qiao Sang smiled.
Tang Yi: "..."
Yang Jiayi almost burst out laughing. She hadn't expected the internet-famous "Junior Year Terminator" Qiao Sang to have such a personality.
She had thought he would be hard to get along with...
Officer Chen watched as the three of them seemed to get along well and breathed a sigh of relief.
These three were all top prodigies, especially Qiao Sang.
He had heard from the seniors who had escorted interstellar exchange students to other planets that some of these prodigies were particularly difficult to handle. Some were aloof and unapproachable, but the worst were those who wouldn't respect anyone and required constant mediation by the accompanying officers.
Before the trip, he had been most worried about Qiao Sang not fitting in, given that his prodigy status was even more terrifying than previous interstellar exchange students and he was highly regarded by the state.
As long as he could get along with the other two, the journey should go smoothly.
...
Two hours later, the starship took off.
"Attention all passengers, the YH-33 starship is about to depart. Please remain in your cabins and do not wander around. In seven minutes, we will enter space, after which you can move to the designated recreational areas. We wish you a pleasant and smooth interstellar journey!"
With the announcement, the massive spacecraft shot out like a streak of light, leaving Blue Star behind.
Once they reached space, the warp engines activated, and the starship's speed exceeded the speed of light.
The ship vibrated slightly for the first seven minutes but became exceptionally stable after entering space.
Qiao Sang stayed in his living quarters, pressing his hand against the transparent wall, staring outside with eyes that shone brightly.
Space! Here I come! Qiao Sang shouted inwardly.
Interstellar travel, getting up close to the dazzling stars—this is the dream of so many people!
How many people wouldn't want to explore space!
Unfortunately, in her previous life, she passed away too early and didn't live to see the day when the country's technology advanced enough to allow non-astronauts to explore space.
Of course, even if she had waited, she probably wouldn't have had the money to go up...
But that doesn't matter.
Now!
Right at this moment!
She's up there!
And it didn't cost her a cent!
Qiao Sang looked outside with anticipation and excitement.
After clinging to the inner wall of the cabin for about ten minutes, she finally calmed down.
Ideals are so grand, but reality is so harsh.
Forget the vast starry seas; all she saw was a pitch-black void, devoid of even the slightest trace of anything!
Her dream of getting close to the dazzling stars was utterly shattered!
And... Qiao Sang moved to the table to start solving problems, trying to forget what she had just experienced.
The view outside was like a bottomless abyss, endless and only filled with death, darkness, and terror.
Perhaps it was because space was so terrifying, but Qiao Sang felt a slight pressure in her head.
"Seek..."
Treasure Seeker, who had been clinging to the cabin wall in the same position as Qiao Sang, looked disappointed.
It looked so good from down below...
"Ya Ya!"
Fangy called out at that moment.
Qiao Sang turned to look.
While Qiao Sang and Treasure Seeker had been staring out the cabin window, Fangy had been training its Psychic Power with Gravity Beads.
"Are you hungry?" Qiao Sang asked.
"Teeth."
Fangy nodded.
Before Qiao Sang could ask Treasure Seeker to take out the Energy Pills prepared by Vice Principal, Yang Jiayi, who was doing yoga on the bed, spoke up:
"I have Lilin Seeds. Do you want to try some?"
Although the country was generous, it didn't provide each Exchange Student with their own Living Quarters. Qiao Sang and Yang Jiayi shared a two-person Living Quarters.
Lilin Seeds? What are those?
Remembering the Blazefruit incident, Qiao Sang cautiously asked, "Are these for humans or for familiars?"
Yang Jiayi was taken aback for a moment, then laughed, "They're for familiars. They help fill the stomach and enhance the shine of their fur."
She then explained further:
"These are things we, who have to participate in the coordination matches and pay special attention to our familiars' charm, often give to our familiars. Since your focus is on combat, it's normal that you haven't heard of them."
Good thing she asked... Qiao Sang thought to herself.
She didn't feel embarrassed about asking; asking when you don't know is the best way to quickly acquire the right knowledge.
"Give me one, please", Qiao Sang said.
Lilin Seeds enhance fur shine, so trying one was enough. The specially made Energy Pills were the main food.
"Sure." Yang Jiayi got up, rummaged through her bag, and took out a light yellow, spindle-shaped fruit with irregular small teeth along the edges. She gently smiled and offered it to Fangy, "Try it."
Fangy sniffed it with its nose and then took a bite.
"Teeth!"
Fangy let out a happy call, indicating that the taste was quite good.
With its appearance, fur, and elegance, it would be a shame for Fangy not to participate in the coordination matches... Yang Jiayi looked at the Blazing Star Hound, her fingers twitching, almost unable to resist the urge to pet it.
Unnoticed by anyone, the green cat-like familiar, whose head revealed a small leaf after removing its hat, opened its previously closed eyes. It watched its Beastmaster being attentive to another familiar and looked displeased.
