Chapter 497: The Goblet of Fire
Chapter 497: The Goblet of Fire
Even after returning to the castle, everyone continued to steal glances at Krum, who stood beside Headmaster Dippet.
"I can't believe it... I'm actually this close to the legendary player!"
Kyle heard Lee Jordan excitedly say, "Does anyone have a quill? I think this is the perfect moment for an autograph."
Apart from Lee, Ron, Simon, and a group of older students were also borrowing quills from anyone they could find.
"No..." George shook his head. "Who brings those around when there's no class?"
"Well, we don't." Fred said with a laugh.
Though they were excited, they didn't share the same fervor as the others.
After parting ways with the Weasley brothers, Kyle made his way to the Hufflepuff table and sat down. He noticed that the students from Beauxbatons were also approaching after speaking with Madame Maxime.
"Hello."
A tiny girl, who looked no older than eleven or twelve, rushed up to Kyle, craning her neck as she spoke in a stumbling manner, "I remember you... from the Quidditch match... you saved us!"
The young girl had a heavy accent, and it took Kyle a while to understand what she was saying.
"This is my sister, Gabrielle Delacour." At that moment, Fleur approached as well.
She looked at Cedric, "Hello, may I sit here?"
"Huh?" Cedric looked at Fleur, then at Kyle beside him, as if he had suddenly realized something. He nodded vigorously.
"Oh... of course, please sit down..." He quickly shuffled to the side, making room for her.
"Thank you." Fleur smiled politely.
She then sat down, removing the scarf that had been wrapped around her head, revealing a cascade of silvery blonde hair and features so exquisite that they seemed unreal.
A young wizard sitting across from Fleur immediately turned bright red.
At the same time, the usually boisterous Hufflepuff table fell into an unusual silence. Even the gazes fixed on Krum were now split, with half of them turning towards Fleur.
But the quiet moment was soon replaced by an even louder buzz of conversation.
Kyle felt as though he had walked into a gathering of legendary wizards, listening to their fantastical and grand adventures.
For instance, Mike was loudly recounting a tale of how he had single-handedly ventured into the dangerous Forbidden Forest as a first-year and rescued a group of dragons.
Of course, this was most likely a fabrication.
Setting aside the question of whether or not there were dragons in Hogwarts, Hagrid would have likely locked him up for a month just for going into the Forbidden Forest in his first year.
However, no one seemed to mind, and many even joined in, adding their own extravagant stories...
There was one about earning a hundred bags of gold in a year... another about being a specialist in hunting Dementors... and yet another about becoming the Minister of Magic right after graduation...
In short, the more outrageous the story, the better, and as they spoke, they would occasionally glance at Fleur, as if trying to draw her attention with these tales.
However, Fleur's expression remained unchanged. She had encountered far more absurd situations at Beauxbatons, and such things no longer surprised her.
With a calm expression, she turned to Kyle and continued, "Madame Maxime has already told us that a Dark wizard attempted to harm Gabrielle and the others. If not for your help, they might not have made it out safely."
"No, you misunderstood." Kyle shook his head in explanation, "It was mostly due to Mr. Weasley, Charlie, and Bill. I only arrived at the end."
"Yes, you're right." Fleur paused before nodding, "Are they also at the school? If possible, I would like to express my thanks in person."
"Unfortunately, Mr. Weasley works at the Ministry of Magic, and Charlie and Bill have already graduated and are working abroad." Kyle said.
A hint of disappointment flashed across Fleur's face.
"But they should be coming to watch the tournament later. After all, this is the first Triwizard Tournament in a century, and no one wants to miss it."
Kyle smiled, "By the way, let me introduce you to everyone."
He pointed to Cedric, "This is Cedric Diggory, my friend, and a favorite for the Hogwarts Champion."
"The Champion?" Fleur looked over and politely extended her hand, "Hello, I'm Fleur Delacour. It's nice to meet you."
"Nice to meet you, too..." Cedric shook her hand lightly.
"That braggart over there is Mike, my roommate... He's a good guy, except for the fact that his brain doesn't work too well sometimes."
Mike had already been waiting impatiently, and as soon as Kyle mentioned him, he rushed out from behind his chair. But before he could take a few steps, Kyle pulled him back.
After all, Fleur was half-Veela, and he was genuinely afraid that Mike might do something rash like cast an enhanced spell in front of everyone... they still had to eat dinner later!
"This is Ryan, also my roommate..."
"Grace, a great Seeker and my teammate."
"Do you like Quidditch, too?" Fleur asked curiously.
"Very much so." Kyle said, "Maybe I'll join a professional team after graduation."
"Then you must be better than Krum." Fleur smiled, "I'll definitely cheer for you when the time comes."
"It's only a possibility." Kyle waved his hand dismissively.
However, Fleur's words caused some displeasure among a few older students at the Slytherin table, who glared at her angrily.
The Ravenclaws felt the same, but their gazes held more jealousy than anger.
Fleur, however, merely smiled contemptuously, unbothered by their stares.
After introducing everyone, Kyle pointed to the last person, who was sitting on the other side - Connor.
But before he could say anything...
"Hello, Connor Prince!"
Connor smiled and extended her hand, almost hitting Kyle's chin.
Fleur's expression changed slightly for the first time as she looked at the outstretched hand, and her smile became less... formulaic.
The corners of her mouth lifted slightly, and she extended her hand as well.
"Fleur Delacour... I must say, you are the most beautiful lady I have ever seen."
"You're the one who should be saying that." Connor said shyly, "These guys have never acted like this before."
"It's different..." Fleur shook her head. She knew that their strange behavior was only because of her Veela heritage.
