Chapter 497: Tantrum
Chapter 497: Tantrum
"Your Highness, I am the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Korok Kingdom. You may address me as Addison."
As the League of Tyrant Kings swiftly set the tone, deciding to eliminate anyone who discovers the problem, Lyon had already arrived at the meeting hall of District Three under the guidance of the Third Prince.
Upon Lyon's entrance, a middle-aged man sitting at the oval conference table facing the door, dressed neatly and elegantly, appeared astute and capable. He nodded politely towards Lyon, then raised his hand and gestured to the empty seat opposite him, inviting him to sit.
"Please take a seat. Next, regarding the hijacking of our airship in your country, the burning of the docking tower leased to your country, and the loss of important cargo, I will be discussing and resolving these matters with you.
Additionally, the other members of your embassy delegation do not have the qualifications to listen in. Please ask the attendants following Prince Andre to leave and wait in the lounge around the corner."
Not only was there no pleasantries or courtesies, but there wasn't even a hint of communication. After arranging everything in a dominant manner, the Minister of Foreign Affairs flipped open the file in front of him without looking up and spoke in a stern tone:
"Your Highness, the first issue we need to discuss is your country's security.
In the vicinity of the capital city, there are vital locations where fully armed rebels can appear, and they can even easily bypass your country's alert outposts to launch attacks on facilities affiliated with our country... Regarding why such absurd situations occur, please provide me and the Korok Kingdom with a reasonable explanation."
"..."
What explanation could he give? Should he tell him how he borrowed the uniform and documents from Isha, then led the bandits to attack the docking tower and burn the airship?
Watching the Minister of Foreign Affairs, who couldn't even wait for him to sit down before launching his "offensive," Lyon's mouth twitched slightly, feeling as if he had encountered a certain freckled prince. His right hand instinctively itched.
Before coming, he had heard that due to the Korok Kingdom's advanced technology, strong international status, and advantageous position in international exchanges, their attitude towards other countries has always been assertive, often bordering on aggressive.
But from the moment they boarded the airship until now, in just two hours, Lyon had already experienced three instances of being shown who's boss. This left him feeling quite displeased.
Especially the Minister of Foreign Affairs before him, with his stern and unyielding expression, seemed to carry an unyielding demeanor in his words and actions, even though he didn't speak rudely or make provocative statements.
Although Lyon never concerned himself with face-saving, as the envoy of the Kingdom of the Thrush, he now represented the Kingdom's reputation. Being treated with such disdain made it hard for him to keep up appearances.
"Your Highness?"
"I will be receiving the ambassador of the Aleron Kingdom in this conference room later, so please cooperate and don't waste my time."
"..."
Oh... Veronica, you really need to work harder.
Hearing the middle-aged man's almost scolding reminder and seeing the dissatisfaction on his face, Lyon shook his head slightly.
The relationship between countries is much more "wild" and adheres more strictly to the law of the jungle compared to interpersonal relationships. Only when your fist is strong enough can you stand tall.
The current kingdom, aside from having a large population, a decent energy industry, and a good industrial foundation, had little else to boast about. This caused other countries to not take the kingdom seriously, and even Lyon, as a prince, was treated with disdain.
...
"The docking tower issue is not under my jurisdiction."
As the stern middle-aged man's eyebrows furrowed tighter, Lyon pulled out a chair and sat down. Then, according to the prepared statement, he replied calmly:
"Our embassy has two groups. The other group is handling this matter. You can discuss it with the other ambassador when they arrive. I came here to purchase technology.
"Huh?"
The Foreign Minister of the Korok Kingdom was taken aback by the unexpected response. He instinctively lowered his head to look at the agenda book in his hand, then raised his head and frowned.
"I haven't received any such notification, and there's no such arrangement in the agenda book."
"Then add it."
Before boarding the airship, Lyon didn't want to cause any trouble that might lead to sanctions against the kingdom by the Corlock Kingdom. He was prepared to go along with their charade.
However, after experiencing a ridiculous hijacking and hearing the story of the bandit siblings, learning about the situation in the floating crystal mines, he was ready to stir up some trouble. There was no need to put up with their attitude.
"Hand it over!"
As the Foreign Minister looked on in bewilderment, Lyon lifted his buttocks, leaned forward, and snatched the agenda book from his hands. He then picked up the pen on the table, made a few quick marks, and scribbled something in the original format. He then threw the book back.
"I've added the procurement matter. I want a set of long-distance communication technology. If you have any issues, ask now. I want to take a walk outside later, so don't waste my time!"
"You... you..."
The serious middle-aged man was so incensed by the prince's impolite, if not disrespectful, behavior that his face turned green. He stuttered for a moment before slamming his hand on the table.
"Ridiculous! Rude! Do you know what you're doing? This is a blatant provocation! You will give..."
"You started the provocation."
Lyon, who had been holding back his anger throughout the journey, crossed his arms and asked coldly, "Do you know how long I've been putting up with you?
Ever since we boarded the airship, you've been causing me trouble! You've been dragging your feet over a simple identification card, and now you're arranging this and that, and you give me attitude at the drop of a hat... I know the Corlock Kingdom is powerful, but do you think others have no temper?"
"You!"
As Lyon stood up, kicking the chair away, and glared at him with ill intent, the Foreign Minister of the Korok Kingdom couldn't help but feel intimidated. He tried to argue, "This is a meeting between nations, not a street thug's brawl. Your behavior is unprofessional!"
"You were the ones who were unprofessional first!"
Lyon slapped the table and demanded angrily, "Aside from sending a prince who's not even in line for the throne, you've skipped the entire reception process! You can't even prepare a few lousy ID cards, and you make me wait for ages. Is that your idea of professionalism?
And you, you may be good at putting on an act, but you don't even know why I'm here or what we should be discussing. Is this the professionalism of a Foreign Minister?"
"..."
Could it be... that we were in the wrong? Not only did we fail to prepare the ID cards, but we also didn't even get his purpose for this visit right?
Seeing Lyon's angry expression, the Foreign Minister, intimidated by his demeanor, instinctively shrunk his neck. He then mustered the courage to argue, "Those issues you mentioned are just about the reception process and agenda arrangements. We can discuss them later, but they can't justify your rude behavior! I am the Foreign Minister of the Korok Kingdom, and you must show me basic respect! At the very least... at the very least, don't use profanity!"
"I didn't use profanity!"
