Chapter 495: Staying True to One's Original Aspiration
Chapter 495: Staying True to One's Original Aspiration
Beneath the office, Trafalgar Law plunged headfirst into the ground like a failed headfirst landing, his legs twitching uselessly above him.
After a long while, he finally struggled to pull his head out of the dirt, lying there motionless.
Thankfully the soil was soft, or he might’ve cracked his skull open.
Law laboriously crawled to a corner, propping himself against the wall as he gasped for breath.
“Damn it… That young girl… No, Flo Lida. This woman’s ability is terrifying.”
Not only had her strength overwhelmed him, but her suction ability had drained his very willpower and spirit. His Haki was useless, his Devil Fruit power nullified. The moment his strength was siphoned, even his consciousness had begun fading.
“Hm? What’s wrong with you?”
A woman’s voice suddenly cut through the silence.
She wore a Navy hooded cloak over a black satin robe that accentuated her stunning figure. Arms crossed beneath her ample chest, she stood with large eyes filled with curiosity, staring at Law slumped in the corner.
“Fen Ni Lieutenant, this man appears to be Trafalgar Law.”
One of the two Navy officers behind her identified the withered figure.
“Trafalgar Law?”
Fen Ni tilted her head. “Eh? Is this what he looks like?”
She’d seen Law just days ago—back then, he’d been dashing and refined. Now he looked like a mummified corpse. This sensation felt oddly familiar.
“Did Lidamiss use her ability on you?” Fen Ni asked uncertainly.
She’d accompanied Lidamiss’s ship on pirate-hunting missions before. When Lidamiss unleashed her power, pirates always ended up like this.
Law weakly glanced at her, opening his mouth but finding he barely had the strength to speak.
“If that’s the case, I’ve got medicine.”
Fen Ni pulled a pill from her pocket, holding it out seriously. “This is one of my special Navy Medicine Pills—Restoration Physical Strength Medicine Pill. I developed it based on Lidamiss’s ability characteristics. Taking it will restore your strength.”
“No… I don’t need Navy pity.”
Law turned his head, his voice hollow. “I’m a pirate. I won’t accept help from the Navy… from the…”
Before he could finish, Fen Ni crouched beside him, gently placing the pill at his lips. “I’m a doctor. Doctors don’t ignore patients.”
“Doctor…”
Law’s eyes widened as he stared at her.
“Doctor, huh?”
He lowered his gaze, a faint smile tugging at his lips. Trembling, he reached out and took the pill. “Then… thank you, doctor.”
He popped the pill into his mouth, chewing with effort before swallowing.
“Gulp—”
As the pill went down, his body swelled like an inflating balloon. The withered frame plumped up, gradually restoring his normal appearance.
“I’m healed!”
He stood, stretching his limbs in astonishment. “Incredible! Your medical skills are amazing. One pill completely restored my physical strength!”
Though his willpower and spirit still needed recovery, this was already extraordinary!
“Thank you, doctor.”
The joy barely lingered on his face before his expression froze mid-sentence to Fen Ni.
His sharp pupils began to glaze over, his rigid body slackening. His face slackened, mouth slightly open. He pointed Ghost Cry’s hilt at Fen Ni’s chest, chuckling foolishly. “Bi… Bi… Big…”
“Hm?”
Fen Ni glanced down, puzzled.
“Big Sister~”
Law grinned, his voice suddenly childish. “Oh ho ho, Big Sister, do you like Chinjao? Hey, you two big brothers over there, do you like carrots?”
He spun in a circle, then stared blankly at the ground.
“Trafalgar Law, what… what are you doing?”
The two Navy officers recoiled, their voices trembling.
“I wanna play playing with mud and urine.”
Law turned, beaming innocently. “But I don’t have to pee. I’m holding it in.”
Their jaws dropped as they stared at the new Seven Warlords of the Sea. Where was the cold, charismatic man from before? His face was vacant, snot dripping down like a five-year-old with an underdeveloped mind.
Fen Ni nodded thoughtfully, pulling out a notebook.
“The Restoration Physical Strength Medicine Pill still has side effects. While it restores physical strength, it lowers intelligence. The duration… unknown. Dammit.”
She smacked her forehead with the notebook, frustrated. “Another failure. I must keep researching. I’ll create a Navy Medicine Pill with no side effects that satisfies Vice Admiral Kuro!”
“You two, watch him until he recovers. I’ll go back to experimenting.”
She shook her head, scribbling notes as she walked away.
The two Navy officers stood frozen, unsure what to do.
“Do you wanna play playing with mud and urine too?” Law asked, his eyes wide with childlike innocence.
They shook their heads violently.
Are you kidding? They’d played with mud and urine at five—officers would call that cute. Doing it now? Their mothers wouldn’t recognize them.
Staying true to one’s original aspiration? Not like this!
“That Navy Woman! I’LL Kill Her!!”
Ten minutes later, Law’s roar echoed from below.
In the end, he couldn’t hold his pee, snapping back to his senses.
But the memories remained.
Face burning, he raged incoherently, his sharp eyes glaring at the two Navy officers who’d witnessed everything.
The Seven Warlords of the Sea title be damned—he’d make them forget this!
Bang!
A sudden ashtray flew from the window, narrowly missing him. Law’s pupils contracted as he dodged sideways.
Looking up, he saw Kuro glaring down coldly.
“Who’re you gonna kill? You dare threaten a Navy officer on my base? Don’t want to be a Seven Warlords of the Sea anymore? Then get lost and stop annoying me!”
The window slammed shut after the curse.
Law clenched his fists, staring upward, teeth grinding.
“Th… Unforgivable!!!”
“Fen Ni’s experimenting with medicine again?”
In the office, Klah adjusted his glasses. “Seems the effect’s decent.”
“You like it?”
Kuro smirked. “Wanna go play playing with mud and urine with Law?”
Klah’s face straightened. “Mr. Kuro, I believe Fen Ni’s research will take time. While I’d gladly sacrifice myself to reduce Navy casualties, now isn’t the time. Let pirates handle experiments.”
“Courage.”
Kuro rolled a White Eye, sighing. “What kind of trash did I end up with?”
