Chapter 495: Horror's First Morphology
Chapter 495: Horror’s First Morphology
Since Masun’s Duration matched the Necrotic Core’s active period and he was a dedicated combat-class summoned entity, Feng Bu Jue naturally chose him as the vessel for the Lingzhu’s power.
As 15% of Feng Bu Jue’s spiritual energy was consumed, the shadow of a mighty warrior materialized behind him.
Suddenly, the winds howled with spiritual energy, and an ancient hero’s soul descended into the world.
Masun stood there—his face radiant like gold and jade, his eyes sparkling like stars. His waist was as supple as a wolf’s, his arms like an ape’s, his spine fierce as a tiger’s, his form majestic as a dragon’s. A crown of three-pointed purple-golden helms adorned his head, and his body was draped in impenetrable scale-mail armor of the same metal. Across his shoulders rippled a crimson sash like blazing fire, its edges dancing with spiritual energy.
The moment he appeared, Feng Bu Jue swung the Lingzhu in his hand.
In an instant, a surge of death energy erupted from the artifact, engulfing Masun’s half-formed body.
Seconds later, Masun roared—a voice like thunder cracking the skies.
The Death Spirit’s power erupted in response, rippling outward like a wailing gale.
The battlefield shook. Sand and stones swirled violently, and ghostly auras thickened the air.
When Masun reappeared, he seemed a third larger in size, his form wreathed in intertwining black death energy and golden spiritual energy. These diametric forces had fused, complementing each other, granting the summoned entity a combat strength that could only be described as horrifying.
"Hey! Buddy!" Feng Bu Jue turned toward Vishnu, who was locked in battle far away.
"Eh? You calling me?" Vishnu replied. By now, his situation had eased considerably. With Twenty-Three, Ling Feng, and Matcha Su aiding him, the Godsfour Heavenly Kings had turned the tide, leaving Origin’s derivative beings on the brink of defeat.
"Mind if I borrow your Guan Dao for a bit?" Feng Bu Jue called out.
"Huh? Oh…" Vishnu hesitated slightly before shaping a bronze mass into a Guan Dao and sending it flying toward Feng Bu Jue.
It took him a full minute to realize—Feng Bu Jue must have watched countless battle recordings to know his ability could produce any cold weapon form on command.
"Thanks." Feng Bu Jue caught the Guan Dao midair, his gaze sharpening. With a sharp cry, he shouted, "Masun!"
"Oy!" Masun growled in acknowledgment, instantly understanding Feng Bu Jue’s intent. He raised both arms, and a Guan Dao materialized in his hands.
Man and spirit stood side by side, blades raised, exuding an aura of unstoppable might.
From sheer momentum alone, they rivaled Lute herself.
"Finished your cosplay yet?" Lute mocked, her voice laced with disdain as she watched Feng Bu Jue.
"Hmph… I’m just holding a blade to match Masun’s technique", Feng Bu Jue retorted, adjusting his disheveled hair but leaving one tuft sticking up at the back. "I don’t look like I’m impersonating anyone. My Guan Dao doesn’t even have a Taiji Pattern engraved on it, does it?"
"If you say so… Never mind." Lute hesitated, forcing herself to calm down. She replied with a composed expression, "Your inconsistent, pretentious theatrics won’t provoke me."
"Oh… So you’re refusing to play along?" Feng Bu Jue smirked. "Heh… Suit yourself."
As his words faded, both man and spirit moved in unison.
Feng Bu Jue charged forward, dragging his blade, then leaped into a downward slash.
Even if he cleaved straight down Lute’s forehead, she wouldn’t flinch. But behind Feng Bu Jue stood Masun.
From a first-person perspective, Masun’s blade radiated an overwhelming surge of death energy, its arc as devastating as a waterfall collapsing a mountain. From a data standpoint, the stream’s intensity rivaled Lute’s own "Snap Light Blast."
Though she loathed showing weakness before a mere player, Lute had no choice but to evade.
A flicker of butterfly wings—her virtual form blurred, vanishing to Lute’s side and rear.
Feng Bu Jue’s slash hit the ground, its blade-energy cleaving the air, streets, and buildings before him into two halves.
This mountain-splitting, sea-parting force was merely a straightforward heavy strike—no technique involved.
"Snap!" Lute’s finger cracked, initiating her counterattack.
A beam of white light erupted, but such attacks couldn’t touch Feng Bu Jue. At least until his vitality dropped below 2%, he could repeatedly activate the Spirit Sense Body Technique - Modified to dodge.
"Hmm… Roughly gauged her strength", Feng Bu Jue muttered calmly as he evaded. "Time to end the warm-up." His initial strike had merely tested Masun’s power under the Necrotic Core’s enhancement, calibrating his zero-time calculations and adjusting control precision.
"Don’t get too cocky!" Lute snarled, her butterfly wings trembling as they unleashed raging gales.
Feng Bu Jue activated the Tavrin Step, surging forward in a spinning charge.
In the blink of an eye, they closed the distance to within ten feet.
"Chinese Cleave Dance!" Feng Bu Jue suddenly spread his form mid-air, thrusting his Guan Dao forward in endless afterimages.
Masun mirrored him flawlessly, matching his movements precisely, channeling the might of mountains and rivers.
Seeing her butterfly wings couldn’t halt the assault, Lute shifted tactics. Her metallic liquid body peeled apart like flower petals, hundreds of metal threads darting forth to intercept the blade shadows. Each collision between metal and blade erupted in small-scale light explosions.
Boom! Boom! Boom! The detonations rang in rapid succession.
Feng Bu Jue remained unaffected—his strikes were mere feints. Masun was the true attacker. As a spiritual entity himself, Masun’s weapon couldn’t be destroyed. Though explosions momentarily eroded the Guan Dao, death energy instantly repaired its form.
Lute’s regeneration speed couldn’t rival Masun’s endless death energy. In this high-speed clash, she was clearly losing ground.
"Damn… Is that guy’s summoned entity S-rank? This thing’s even stronger than Zhao Ying Wang’s Bloodstone Demon!" Vishnu exclaimed, watching the distant battlefield erupt in continuous explosions.
"Actually, isn’t that Lute’s second morphology already?" Shiva added. "At this rate… Feng Bu Jue might just finish her last two morphologies in one go."
Meanwhile, Xiao Tan had carried Chi Tie and Gui Xiao far away from the battlefield.
Though Xiao Tan stood six feet tall, carrying two people was no easy feat. Gui Xiao was manageable—a 5’6” skinny high schooler build—but Chi Tie’s towering, muscular frame was a serious strain.
Luckily, Xiao Tan was now a Level 35 player, her strength and speed far surpassing ordinary humans. Otherwise, this task would have been impossible.
Soon, she reached a distant street. Out of Lute’s sight, they were temporarily safe.
Xiao Tan found a crumbling wall and dropped both men unceremoniously onto the ground. Without hesitation, she pulled out the Panacea Feng Bu Jue had given her earlier and shoved it into Chi Tie’s mouth.
Chi Tie swallowed the *-500, his eyes flashing with bright white data streams. Seconds later, he bolted upright, scanning his surroundings before frantically smearing a foul, contaminant-filled substance from the ground and broken walls onto his body.
"Phew… You saved me big time", Chi Tie sighed, his wounds twitching oddly under the substance. From his expression, the effect seemed positive. "Quick—wake this kid up!" He gestured toward Gui Xiao on the ground.
"I only had one pill…" Xiao Tan replied.
"Waking him doesn’t require artifacts", Chi Tie said, walking briskly toward Gui Xiao.
"This isn’t just a regular faint", Xiao Tan warned—not as a doctor’s diagnosis, but simple logic. If Gui Xiao had merely been knocked out, he should’ve woken from the noise, light, or motion during their escape.
"I know." Chi Tie knelt, one hand steadying Gui Xiao’s head as he pressed his fingers against the young man’s neck.
"Hey... what are you doing..." Xiao Tan's mind immediately jumped to some dreadful possibilities. "If you're going to perform Cpr, I suggest laying him flat first... And if you're thinking of using that fairy tale method, let me warn you-"
Crack!
A strange sound rang out as Chi Tie yanked something out from behind Gui Xiao's neck.
The object resembled a spine with insect legs, made of a silver metal similar to the material composing Lute's previous morphological body. As Chi Tie pulled this strange vertebra from Gui Xiao's neck, a few strands of blood trailed after it.
"What were you about to say?" Chi Tie tossed the weird spine onto the ground, where it quickly melted into liquid.
"Uh... Nothing really." Xiao Tan replied awkwardly.
"Heh-" Suddenly, Gui Xiao's eyes snapped open on the ground. He gasped for air like someone having an asthma attack, his expression one of extreme pain.
"Don't worry", Chi Tie gestured for Xiao Tan to stay calm. "He's just adjusting to his organs."
Hearing this, Xiao Tan thought for two seconds. "So you're saying that thing you just pulled out was some kind of external cycle device?"
"Yeah, something like that", Chi Tie replied.
"Ugh-" Gui Xiao leaned against the wall and dry-heaved, stomach acid the only thing coming out. "Haa... haa..." After catching his breath, he began cursing, "Damn it... haa... haa..." His face quickly showed a surging fighting spirit, "I was too careless before. I should've fought in my strongest form from the start..."
"Hey kid, to avoid misunderstandings, let me introduce myself first..." Chi Tie quickly spoke up, wanting to clarify the stance of Zorganization's three derivative beings to Gui Xiao before he launched an attack recklessly.
"K1-Chi Tie", Gui Xiao interrupted unexpectedly. "You, R2-Ling Feng, and X-23 are all derivative beings opposing Lute. I know about everything that happened earlier." He paused, spitting out some saliva. "My consciousness was always clear, just unable to move."
"Since things are settled here..." Xiao Tan said, twin blades already drawn as he turned and dashed away. "Please excuse my departure..."
Before his words finished echoing, his figure had already vanished dozens of feet away.
"Heh... He's more reliable than he looks", Chi Tie chuckled. "Let's head over too."
Crack-crack-
"Ahhh..." Gui Xiao twisted his finger joints. "I still have scores to settle with Lute..."
...
Back at the battlefield... Within these few minutes, Feng Bu Jue had pressed his advantage relentlessly, growing fiercer with each moment.
Riding on Masun's astonishing might, Feng Bu Jue drove Lute into a defensive stance, barely able to parry the relentless attacks.
"Golden Chinese Cleave Dance!"
A supreme technique unleashed, creating a sky filled with golden blade shadows.
Under the dazzling blade light, Lute appeared on the verge of death.
"This strong...?" On Lute's tactical analysis interface, her survival probability kept dropping. Clearly, the effects of the Legendary-Level Item 【Necrotic Core】had exceeded her calculations.
"Alright... Another 'Blade Mirage Realm' to force out her first morphology..." Feng Bu Jue had already seen through her disadvantage, murderous intent surging as he attacked again with renewed vigor.
Feng Bu Jue knew that no matter how much advantage he gained, it would all vanish after five minutes. And Lute was clearly aware of this "time limit" too, so she would certainly find ways to endure this period.
This clash between them was more than just combat—it was a battle of minds. Facing an opponent far superior in information gathering, Feng Bu Jue had to think further and deeper.
"Blade Mirage Realm!" Seizing an opening, Feng Bu Jue thrust his blade forward.
Masun followed with his giant blade, and at the same time, dozens of golden virtual weapons appeared in the air, resembling a forest of blades enclosing on Lute.
"So eager to see my first morphology... I'll grant your wish!" Cornered with no(End of Chapter)
