Chapter 495: Destroying the Fourth Horcrux
Chapter 495: Destroying the Fourth Horcrux
Realizing this, Ivan sighed but still spoke firmly.
"Kreacher did indeed disrespect us, so you should order it to apologize to us. But you also need to apologize to it!"
Harry looked at Sirius Black just as seriously. Lupin hesitated for a moment before also chiming in to mediate.
"Alright, fine, I'll apologize!" Sirius Black finally gave in and turned to look at Kreacher.
The House-Elf had overheard Ivan and the others, and its face showed a mixture of fear, shock, and disbelief.
"No, master should not apologize to Kreacher! It was Kreacher's fault for not protecting Regulus, it's Kreacher's fault, and it must be punished!" Kreacher let out a fierce scream.
It frantically searched for something to punish itself with, eventually grabbing a broken chair leg and slamming it against its own head.
"Bad Kreacher, bad slave, bad Kreacher!" Kreacher screamed while mutilating itself.
"Stop it, Kreacher! You did nothing wrong. Sirius Black almost killed you; he should apologize to you!" Harry snatched the chair leg away and grabbed Kreacher's wrist.
But the House-Elf paid no attention to Harry's words and almost scratched him, still mumbling "bad Kreacher" and "bad slave."
"You see! I wanted to apologize", Sirius Black shrugged, having anticipated this reaction. "If I had apologized just now, it would have been so ashamed that it might have killed itself!"
Harry opened his mouth to argue but, seeing Kreacher's terrified state, closed it again. He felt a mix of pity and frustration.
Ivan watched the scene and shook his head inwardly.
Wizards had been oppressing and enslaving House-Elves for centuries, ingraining this mindset so deeply that it was etched into their minds.
Even if they themselves gave up on the idea of resistance, who could help them?
But Ivan quickly realized he was being naive.
Wizards were the absolute rulers of the Wizarding World!
Even if the House-Elves, who were already scattered and enslaved, rebelled, it would be futile and pose no threat to the Wizards' rule. Instead, they would face retaliatory massacres.
Unless Goblins, Centaurs, Mermaids, and all other Magical Creatures rebelled together, there would be no hope of challenging the Wizards' authority.
"Alright, let's not talk about this! Ivan, didn't you say you could destroy this Locket?" Lupin interjected to ease the tension, shifting the conversation to the Horcrux.
Ivan nodded and, under everyone's watchful eyes, waved his wand toward the staircase.
"Trunk, come here!"
In response to the Summoning Charm, a commotion was heard from upstairs. Moments later, a small suitcase spun through the air and landed in front of them.
Ivan solemnly opened the Trunk, took out a small box, and then opened the box to reveal five bottles of reagents. The dark liquid inside exuded a dangerous aura.
"What is this, and why is it so well hidden?" Sirius Black asked, amazed.
"Poison! To be precise, a powerful Venom! It's quite dangerous and valuable, and I obtained it by chance", Ivan explained casually.
The bottles contained Basilisk Venom, which he had extracted from a Basilisk's fangs. It could corrode the soul and damage Voldemort's Horcrux.
Such layers of protection were to prevent the bottle from breaking and the snake venom from seeping out and injuring him. He didn't want his skin to come into contact with this stuff.
Thinking about this, Ivan felt a bit helpless. The Fiendfyre Ring that Asia had given him had already been used up. Otherwise, he wouldn't have to carry such a dangerous item.
As for repairing the ring? It wasn't impossible, but he would need to learn the Fiendfyre Curse. However, if he knew the Fiendfyre Curse, why would he need the ring at all?
Ivan placed the Slytherin Locket on the table beside him, then unscrewed the cap of the reagent and gently uttered in Parseltongue.
"Hisss~ (Open)"
The voice, imbued with magic, vibrated at a peculiar frequency, and the sealed Locket slowly opened.
Inside, intricate patterns were etched, and on the lid, two indented slots each contained a living, blinking eye, black and bright, identical to the eyes of Tom Riddle that Ivan had seen!
Buzz
The Horcrux placed on the table by Ivan made its final struggle, and a large amount of black mist surged out of the Locket, filling the entire living room.
Ivan felt his brain being invaded, the sensation was intense, as if someone was hammering a spike into his head, trying to split it open!
Ivan activated the Occlumency to resist.
Perhaps sensing that this was ineffective, a voice hissed from the Horcrux.
[I understand you, Ivan Hals! I see your ambition. Only I can give you power, we are kindred spirits.]
As the voice faded, the black mist began to churn.
Asia, Hermione, Luna, Hagrid, and many other familiar figures appeared in the black mist, standing in front of Ivan.
[You must trust him, he can help you!] Hermione in the black mist said in a gloomy voice.
[Yes, come to our side, they are the enemies!] Asia said gently.
[There's still time to turn back.] Luna's smile seemed somewhat eerie.
Each person in the black mist kept speaking, but their voices were not pleasant, rather they were hoarse.
Then another figure emerged from the black mist, it was Dumbledore. He had a sinister expression and shot beams of light from his wand, slaughtering Asia and the others.
They fell to the ground, showing despair, until another black mist version of Ivan appeared behind Dumbledore, using an extremely powerful spell to kill him. The Slytherin Locket hung from his chest.
A large number of black flowers fell slowly from the sky, and many figures appeared around, even the Minister of Magic, Fudge, was kneeling before him, praising the new master of the wizarding world with a hoarse voice.
"Such a cliché act. Is this all you've got? How disappointing!" Ivan sneered.
He knew that the Horcrux must have read the memories of Harry and others, then fabricated this scene to try to shake his resolve.
The evidence was that it couldn't manifest Fenrir, Greyback, and other werewolves, because Harry, Sirius, and others had never seen them.
So the Horcrux didn't know that threatening him with Dumbledore was meaningless, as the old professor had already been targeted by another Horcrux and wouldn't live much longer.
Ivan stepped into the black mist without changing his expression, and according to his memory, he sprinkled the snake venom onto the empty ground.
