Chapter 494: Throw Him Out
Chapter 494: Throw Him Out
"Until thirty years ago, he was known as the 'World Destroyer'—this alone proves how wary the World Government was of him."
Heron's voice echoed from the Transponder Snail.
"Granny He, who exactly is this 'World Destroyer'? Is he really that famous?"
Lida flipped through the newspaper, searching for any photos to no avail. "I can't find any pictures!"
Klah, beside him, shared his confusion.
No one seemed to recognize this mysterious man.
Even Sengoku had only heard rumors about him from Sakazuki during their younger days.
The World Destroyer, Buggy the Clown—if Kuro hadn't retained some memories of powerful figures, he wouldn't have known about this existence either.
Thirty years ago...
Thirty years ago, he hadn't even arrived in this world yet.
"World Destroyer, huh?"
Heron's voice carried a moment of contemplation before she replied, "Whatever he sees, he reduces to destruction. Anyone who stands before him vanishes. Navy, pirates, government, civilians—nothing remains in his presence. Hence the name, 'World Destroyer.'"
"He's a threat to everyone. But this isn't your concern, young Lida."
"Sakazuki, Borsalino, do you remember your early days as recruits?"
"Oh, now that you mention it..." Lucius Kro's voice chimed in. "The Navy and pirates once formed an alliance for a battle called the 'Warlder Sea Battle,' but we were ultimately forced to retreat."
"The Navy and pirates allied?!"
Sengoku exclaimed, "Gramps, you never told us about this!"
"Well, we did capture him eventually", Lucius Kro chuckled.
"Forced to retreat?"
Klah pushed up his glasses, his eyes widening in shock.
The fact that the Navy and pirates had to cooperate against someone called the 'World Destroyer' was shocking enough. But the real surprise was their retreat.
Just how powerful was this pirate?
"Yes, a forced retreat", Heron confirmed. "However, the World Government secretly assigned spies to Wald's side during the battle, turning the tide and leading to the downfall of the Wald Pirates. But for reasons unknown, Wald was frozen in ice and imprisoned in 'Impel Down' thirty years ago."
"Even needing spies..."
Klah swallowed hard. This meant not only the Navy and pirates but also the World Government itself had intervened against this man.
Such a high-level threat...
"Sengoku mentioned this before."
Sakazuki's voice crackled through the Transponder Snail: "That Blackbeard bastard took several prisoners from Impel Down, but many more escaped unnoticed, including Wald."
"So they really released a terrifying one", Heron sighed. "And this happened during the transition between Headquarters Relocation and World Recruitment—terrible timing. He's a 'Momo Devil Fruit' user, capable of enlarging anything he touches a hundredfold in size and speed for attacks. The title 'World Destroyer' is well-earned."
The Headquarters Relocation was a massive undertaking, and even now, Kuro knew that the New Marine Headquarters was still not fully constructed.
The World Recruitment's new system had created turbulence within the Navy itself. While a few like Yi Xiao and Tatsumaki could be considered 'enforcers,' this was a systemic overhaul.
With the Grand Line's stability being the Navy's current limit, Yi Xiao and Tatsumaki were still on probation. Meanwhile, traditional Navy elites gathered in the New World, clearing and guarding sea areas against pirates.
There were simply no spare forces to deal with Wald.
Summoning the Seven Warlords of the Sea was indeed the right choice.
"So what does this have to do with me?" Kuro asked. "I should just continue guarding Shabondy as usual."
"Kuro, Buggy the Clown is currently near your area in the first half of the Grand Line", Heron explained. "Besides guarding your territory, your mission to gather the Seven Warlords of the Sea to Marineford has a complication—'Snake Princess' Boa Hancock hasn't responded to the summons. Since this is a standard call, those pirate trash will likely refuse. Without special mobilization through our Navy channels, you'll need to go to Amazon Lily yourself and bring her from Ku Snake Island."
Heron continued, "Also, Trafalgar Law, who previously landed on your island, has accepted the summons. By now, he should have arrived at your office."
"So I did."
Whoosh!
A sofa in the office vanished, and in its place sat Law, complete with his hat and beard, grinning at the group. "Didn't expect to meet again so soon. Hello, I'm the new Seven Warlords of the Sea member, Trafalgar Law."
"You cheeky bastard!"
Sengoku glared. "How did you just barge in here?!"
"Hey, who said you could enter without permission?" Klah's temple twitched, a black line forming on his forehead.
Kuro shot him a glance and hung up the communicator, squinting at Law. "Law?"
"It's me."
Law smiled, his expression no longer wary as it had been days before.
He was now a 'Seven Warlords of the Sea' member—equal in standing with the Navy, part of the same system. As a Navy officer, no one would dare target him.
"Hmm?"
Just as he thought this, he suddenly felt his ankle grow heavy.
Looking down, he saw the floor had risen like ropes, binding his feet.
"Lida." Kuro spoke.
"Flying Fishman Karate!"
Lida pointed a finger, releasing a wisp of energy. As Kuro's command fell, the blast struck Law's torso, leaving a wound on his waist.
"What—"
As pain surged, Law prepared to use his ability to phase away, but in that instant, the wound seemed to drain his strength, slowing his reaction.
In that split second, the white-haired little female Navy officer appeared before him, pressing her hand against his wounded waist.
"Energy Drain!!"
Instantly, Law's strength drained rapidly. The speed of this loss left him unable to use any ability.
"My strength... energy..." His eyes widened as his face paled.
His body went limp, collapsing onto the floor.
"Klah, throw him out the window."
Kuro lit a cigar, addressing the convulsing Law on the floor.
"Law, if you don't return my sofa, I'll wrap you in stone and freeze you with Aokiji's Ice Age."
Klah pushed up his glasses, grabbed Law's collar, opened an office window, and tossed him out.
For the record, Kuro's office was quite high up.
Boom!
A thunderous crash echoed from below as Klah closed the window and turned to report, "Done, Mr. Kuro."
"Prepare a warship and contact the Storbery Brothers to confirm the Seven Warlords' arrival", Kuro ordered.
Fight Wald?
Kuro wasn't even sure of Wald's exact strength yet. If this turned out to be another Four Emperors-level threat, he'd be of no use.
This wasn't a joke—this was a monster that required the combined forces of the Navy, pirates, and World Government to defeat. In Kuro's memory, only Rocks had been that terrifying.
Though thirty years had passed, old men could be the most dangerous. Who knew if Wald would go all-out?
Besides, his current orders were to guard Shabondy. Let the Seven Warlords handle these troublesome matters.
Going to Amazon Lily was acceptable.
Besides...
He'd been itching to visit this cursed Amazon Lily ever since Bear sent him flying there last year. He'd come personally to settle the score!
Amazon Lily!
Just the name screamed "abhor gambling and drugs!"
But Kuro? He grinned. He'd be just fine.
"Granny He, who exactly is this 'World Destroyer'? Is he really that famous?"
Lida flipped through the newspaper left and right, raising the paper in his hand when he couldn't find any photos. "I don't see any pictures!"
Klah beside him was equally puzzled.
No one recognized this man.
Even Sengoku only knew of him through rumors Sakazuki had heard from Gramps during his youth.
World Destroyer, Buggy the Clown—truthfully, if Kuro hadn't retained some memories of powerful figures' names and abilities, he wouldn't have known about this existence either.
Thirty years ago...
Thirty years ago, he hadn't even arrived in this world yet.
"World Destroyer, huh?"
"Whatever he sees, he reduces to destruction. Anyone who stands before him vanishes. Navy, pirate, government, civilian—nothing remains in his path. That's why he's called the 'World Destroyer.'"
"Whatever he sees, he reduces to destruction. Anyone who stands before him vanishes. Navy, pirate, government, civilian—nothing remains in his presence. That's why he's called the 'World Destroyer.'"
"He's an extreme threat to everyone. But this isn't your generation's concern, little Lida."
"Sakazuki, Borsalino, do you remember when you were new recruits?"
"Oh~ Now that you mention it..." Lucius Kro's voice chimed in. "The Navy and pirates actually formed an alliance for a battle called the 'Warlder Sea Battle,' though we were forced to retreat in the end."

Klah pushed his glasses up, eyes widening in shock.
A war requiring Navy-pirate cooperation to fight someone dubbed 'World Destroyer' wasn't even the most shocking part. The real shock was their retreat.
Just how strong was this pirate?
"Exactly—forced retreat", she confirmed. "However, the World Government secretly assigned spies to Wald's side during the battle, turning the tide and leading to the Wald Pirates' downfall. But for unknown reasons, Wald was frozen in ice and imprisoned in 'Impel Down' thirty years ago."
