Chapter 494: Sun Xingyu vs. Xue Ke vs. Doll
Chapter 494: Sun Xingyu vs. Xue Ke vs. Doll
Xie Xiaofeng left, his mind at ease.
Xue Ke also departed to attend to the handful of martial artists she had recruited.
Tie Kaicheng lounged comfortably on the bed, his feet resting in Sun Xingyu's lap. He watched as Doll tended to the old woman, helping her rest before dressing the old man's wounds.
It must be said that although Doll appeared young and naive, her clueless demeanor wasn't an act.
"Your technique for dressing wounds is truly appalling," Tie Kaicheng remarked with a shake of his head. "If you continue like this, Old Miao will surely be left with aftereffects."
Gritting her teeth, Doll listened as Old Miao interjected, "I think you're doing a fine job. I'm sure there won't be any complications."
Tie Kaicheng produced two small wooden bottles from his pocket and tossed them to Doll. "The one with the red lid is for bone injuries. Apply it to his chest. The other, with the blue lid, is for external wounds."
"Thank you!" Doll hastily took the bottles, her eyes welling up with tears as she carefully dressed Old Miao's wounds. The sight of his injuries only caused her tears to flow more freely.
Old Miao, at a loss for what to do, had no idea how to comfort Doll. He could only laugh awkwardly and say, "Don't cry, I'm fine, really. They didn't hurt me much. These are just minor injuries, like a gentle scratch."
With a flick of his wrist, Tie Kaicheng sent a peanut flying towards Old Miao's chest, causing him to break out in a cold sweat from the pain.
"If you're scratching an itch, you should be laughing, not sweating," Tie Kaicheng teased.
Old Miao managed to force a feeble smile, which looked even more painful than his crying.
Biting her lower lip, Doll wanted to plead with her older brother, but then she recalled Tie Kaicheng's behavior at the brothel and toward their family. She knew that beneath his harsh exterior, Tie Kaicheng had a good heart, even if he enjoyed teasing others and couldn't stand seeing people being two-faced.
So she remained silent, figuring that her brother wasn't in any real danger, was he?
Doll glanced at Sun Xingyu, who was peacefully massaging Tie Kaicheng's feet, and then at Xue Ke, who had just returned to the side courtyard. She couldn't help but ask, "Is Ah Ji really alright going alone to find Iron Head?"
Sun Xingyu remained silent, as she was Tie Kaicheng's woman, not Xie Xiaofeng's.
Xue Ke, having just returned, answered instead, "As long as he doesn't hold him back, there's no one in the world who can match him."
Xue Ke then surveyed Doll from head to toe, a slight smile playing on her lips. "When did he start liking them so young?"
"He's getting old," Tie Kaicheng chimed in. "When he was younger, he played too hard and wore himself out. Now he's afraid to face those fierce women seeking him out, so he runs away."
"He hates his own incompetence," Tie Kaicheng continued in a casual tone. "Feeling like his future has crumbled, he's only in his thirties but feels useless. So he tortures his body to numb the pain in his spirit."
The group fell silent.
Old Miao's eyes widened in shock as he stammered, "R-really?"
Doll felt like crying from her older brother's foolishness. When Ah Ji had suffered seven or eight knife wounds and lay weak in the backyard shed, she had gone to comfort him and felt his hardness.
It was clear that Tie Kaicheng was mocking Ah Ji, but her foolish older brother had taken his words at face value. Doll's hand unconsciously applied a little more pressure as she bandaged his ribs.
"Ouch—"
Old Miao couldn't help but hiss in pain, looking pitifully at Doll, only to be met with a scornful glance.
Sun Xingyu, listening by the side, couldn't help but chuckle. Xue Ke still thought that Xie Xiaofeng was the unrivaled swordsman, unaware that both Tie Kaicheng and Yan Shi had already mastered the deadly fifteenth sword technique.
Having witnessed the power of that sword herself, she didn't believe anyone in the world could withstand it!
Not to mention...
This little arrangement was nothing compared to the explosive things Tie Kaicheng had said at Old Miao's house earlier.
"I heard he was quite the ladies' man in his youth, charming and gallant, with countless conquests. It's understandable if he's a bit spent now," Sun Xingyu added bravely in Xie Xiaofeng's absence, not forgetting to flatter Tie Kaicheng. "After all, he hasn't learned any Daoist techniques, and at over thirty, it's only natural if he can't keep up anymore."
"He's different from others," Xue Ke said with a cold smile.
Sun Xingyu replied with a hint of melancholy, "Still bringing up what happened seven or eight years ago? That only shows that you two are getting old."
Xue Ke narrowed her eyes, a captivating gleam shining in their depths, meeting Sun Xingyu's triumphant gaze.
Indeed, Xue Ke was approaching thirty, but her skin remained smooth, her thighs firm, and not a single crow's-feet could be seen at the corners of her eyes. No one had ever questioned her age.
But she, of course, knew her true age, and Sun Xingyu had struck a nerve. After all, Sun Xingyu was indeed younger than her.
Mustering her courage, Doll spoke up, "I've tried, and he's very good."
Xue Ke turned to Doll, who met her gaze with newfound bravery.
Tie Kaicheng was a bit surprised at Doll's boldness. Did he not know whether she had any experience? The one time she had wanted to, she had been slapped by Xie Xiaofeng and then dragged away by Granny Han.
Old Miao's face turned crimson, and he considered reprimanding Doll, but she was currently mustering all her courage to stare down Xue Ke, her hand unconsciously pressing hard on his chest, her veins popping out as she exerted force in midair.
Old Miao blinked, ultimately deciding to remain silent.
Sun Xingyu glanced at Xue Ke and said with a smile, "It seems you really are getting old. Xie Xiaofeng would rather spend time with this little girl than with you."
Xue Ke's lips curved upward. "But that at least proves that he's still very capable, doesn't it? That's enough."
Doll nodded vigorously. "He's the most formidable person I've ever met!"
Sun Xingyu's eyebrows arched, and Xue Ke's eyes sparkled with amusement. The three women exchanged glances, each understanding the unspoken meaning in the others' eyes.
Tie Kaicheng even felt like applauding. The scene was truly captivating, and he couldn't wait to see what would happen next.
"Have you met Tie Tou?" Tie Kaicheng asked Xue Ke.
"Of course," Xue Ke nodded. "He's also a lecherous ghost. The way he looks at me, it's as if he wants to strip me naked."
"So, he has quite a few women, too?" Tie Kaicheng inquired.
"Not really," Xue Ke pouted. "He's quite selective, too. He only has three concubines, and the most favored one right now is the third concubine, also a promiscuous woman."
That "also" was used just right.
