Chapter 493: Mu Yue's Pokemon Egg (8k) (Part 1)
Chapter 493: Mu Yue's Pokemon Egg (8k) (Part 1)
In the Rain Country, the base of the Ninja Sect.
Mu Yue, along with Yahiko and the others, was discussing the location for the Ninja Sect's headquarters.
Things were different now; the Ninja Sect's status was on par with the Rain Ninjas, and they certainly couldn't just settle anywhere. They needed to consider various factors and aspects carefully.
"How about a village in the central region of the Rain Country? That way, it will be easier for us to spread the influence of the Ninja Sect across the country and bring better security to the Rain Country," suggested Yahiko enthusiastically.
His current top priority was to restore peace to the Rain Country, and establishing their base in the center would allow the Ninja Sect's forces to quickly reach all parts of the country.
"Do you want all the Ninja Sect's actions to be right under the noses of the Rain Ninjas?" Kakuzu rebutted.
The Rain Ninja Village was located in the central region of the Rain Country, and with their current manpower disparity, it wouldn't be difficult for the Rain Ninjas to keep an eye on the Ninja Sect.
Although both sides were currently maintaining a peaceful coexistence, in Kakuzu's eyes, a temporary truce didn't change the fact that they were still enemies, and caution was necessary.
"If we choose the central region, it's inevitable that the Rain Ninjas will be wary of us," added Fu Yamanaka.
During the peace talks, Danzo had shown deep wariness towards the Ninja Sect, and Fu Yamanaka guessed that if they set up their base right next to the Rain Ninja Village, Danzo might not even be able to sleep peacefully.
Although Danzo's sleep quality was none of their concern, they couldn't rule out the possibility of Danzo tearing up the peace treaty and starting a civil war if he became jealous of the Ninja Sect's growing strength.
For the Ninja Sect, the longer they could drag things out, the more advantageous it would be for them.
"Then, let's not choose the central region," Yahiko said, realizing that he had indeed lacked consideration. He turned his attention back to the large map of the Rain Country on the table, searching for a location that would benefit the Ninja Sect.
"Nagato, have you found any good locations?" Yahiko asked Nagato casually as he studied the map.
"Since our goal is to restore peace, I think the eastern region could be a good choice," Nagato replied after some thought.
Nagato always kept Mu Yue's words in mind—to always clarify your purpose before taking action.
"The eastern region has been thrown into chaos due to the conflicts between Konoha and Iwagakure, and between Sunagakure and Kumogakure. If we can calm the chaotic situation in the east, it should significantly help bring peace to the entire Rain Country..."
As he spoke, Nagato realized that everyone was looking at him, and he wondered if he had said something wrong, so he continued more cautiously.
Yahiko happily patted Nagato on the shoulder, "Nagato, you seem to be improving so fast. Your considerations are much more comprehensive than mine."
A slight smile appeared on Nagato's face, and he felt that he wasn't as talented as Yahiko. He had just taken Mu Yue's words to heart and combined them with the current intelligence for analysis.
"Calming the eastern region will indeed benefit the peace of the Rain Country. However, the danger there might even surpass that of the central region," Kakuzu pointed out.
The eastern region of the Rain Ninja Village was close to two battlefields—above was the Grass Country battlefield between Iwagakure and Konoha, and below was the River Country battlefield between Sunagakure and Kumogakure.
Being caught in the middle, the eastern region of the Rain Country had become a hotbed of conflict, and it was normal to encounter ninjas from any of the Great Ninja Villages.
And precisely because of this environment, the eastern region currently had the highest number of rogue ninjas in the Rain Country, making it the most active area for ninja organizations.
"After all, our Ninja Sect currently lacks a substantial mid-level force," Kakuzu stated, pointing out the most critical weakness of the Ninja Sect.
Even as a ninja village, their high-level combat strength wasn't weak. They had powerful individuals like Mu Yue, who could rival a demi-god like Danzo, and promising young talents like Nagato.
However, when it came to mid-level forces, they were sorely lacking. Most of the Ninja Sect's ninjas were no match for the experienced jonin from the Five Great Ninja Villages.
While the eastern region might be chaotic, no one foolish enough to provoke Mu Yue or Kakuzu, but the same couldn't be said for the other Ninja Sect members. If conflicts arose, battles would be unavoidable.
Nagato's expression turned hesitant, and he opened his mouth as if to reject his own suggestion, not wanting his companions to face danger.
"Of course, I'm not saying we can't go there. A dangerous environment can hone our abilities, and it might even be better for the entire Ninja Sect," Kakuzu interrupted Nagato and then fell silent.
Hearing Kakuzu's words, Nagato hesitated again, unsure about the decision to go east.
"Let's put it to a vote and let them decide for themselves," Mu Yue suggested.
Choosing the eastern region would actually benefit Mu Yue more since Konoha was located to the east of the Rain Country. The eastern region bordered the Fire Country and was closer to Konoha, making travel more convenient.
However, as the leader of the Ninja Sect, Mu Yue couldn't make the decision based on his personal reasons.
In the end, they followed Mu Yue's suggestion and explained the pros and cons to all the Ninja Sect members, allowing the hundreds of ninjas in the sect to vote together.
When the voting results were tallied, Nagato was somewhat surprised to find that the option with the most votes was the eastern region, which was undoubtedly more dangerous.
Nagato didn't understand why most of the Ninja Sect members, who lacked the strength of Yahiko and Konan, would willingly choose the riskiest option.
In the past, Nagato would have kept his doubts to himself and pondered them alone.
But now, with a trustworthy teacher by his side, Nagato decided to ask Mu Yue directly.
"If you want to know the answer, you shouldn't ask me. You should ask those who voted," Mu Yue said, leading Nagato to the ninjas who had cast their votes for the eastern region.
"I'm from the eastern region of the Rain Country myself. That place has been chaotic, not just now but even during the Second Great Ninja War. If the Ninja Sect can bring peace to that place, it will be my contribution to my hometown. As for danger? Being a ninja is never without risks," one of the ninjas explained.
What surprised Nagato even more was that many of those who voted were locals from the eastern region, fully aware of the dangers there.
"Although the east is dangerous, there are also many ninjas, which can help strengthen the Ninja Sect," another ninja added.
Some saw the danger as an opportunity for the Ninja Sect's growth.
"Have you found the answers you were looking for?" Mu Yue asked Nagato after they had spoken to several ninjas.
Nagato nodded and lowered his head, "Compared to them, I seem indecisive and too conservative."
Mu Yue smiled and patted Nagato's head, "Maybe you're just too kind and don't want to see your companions get hurt. That's not a bad thing."
"The east is indeed dangerous. We can pause the Ninja Sect's activities for the next two months and focus on intensive training to improve our strength. I'll be the instructor for this training, and we can even invite the Rain Ninjas to join. That way, they can also contribute to the stability of the eastern region," Mu Yue suggested, wanting to test the Rain Ninjas' attitude and make a bigger move. He wondered if he could aim for an even higher-level class reward.
He thought that if he could get seventy percent of the Rain Ninjas' jonin-level ninjas and above to attend the class, along with all the Ninja Sect members, the chances of success would be pretty good.
"We have all come together for the sake of peace in the Rain Country and in the ninja world. This is what the Ninja Sect strives for, and so, there is no longer a need for the existence of the Akatsuki."
With the Ninja Sect now on the right track, Yahiko officially announced the dissolution of the Akatsuki, leaving only the Ninja Sect from that point on.
Yahiko's thinking was straightforward—the Ninja Sect was already an organization, and with the Akatsuki having joined it, there was no longer any need for the Akatsuki to exist as a separate entity within it.
"Are you sure about this, boss? That means you won't be our boss anymore," Konan teased.
As one of the veteran members of the Akatsuki, he had no objections, as he saw the Ninja Sect as a larger version of their previous group, simply with a new name.
"That's not necessarily true," Yahiko laughed. "Sensei Souyuukai mentioned that he will form a special action squad with the codename 'Akatsuki.' If I become the captain and transfer you to be a member of my squad, then I'll be your boss again."
"I won't let you have the captain position so easily. I plan to compete and take that spot for myself," Konan retorted, not wanting to be outdone.
Aside from Konan, neither Nagato nor Konan, the two founders of the Akatsuki, objected to Yahiko's decision.
The more one truly wanted to embody the ideals of the Akatsuki, the less likely they were to oppose this resolution, as the Ninja Sect was already walking the path that the Akatsuki had envisioned.
Mu Yue made no changes to the ninja ranks, retaining the standard tiers of upper, middle, and lower ninja used throughout the ninja world.
However, instead of using the Rain Ninja Village's standards, Mu Yue opted to follow those of Konoha.
Given that their influence was still burgeoning, Mu Yue theoretically lowered the standards, and most of their members were deemed qualified to become jonin.
In the end, five individuals attained the rank of jonin: Mu Yue, Kakuzu, Konan, Yahiko, and Nagato.
Additionally, there were two special jonin, one of whom was Konan of the Akatsuki.
Fifty-two individuals achieved the rank of chunin, including most of the ninjas who had traveled throughout the Rain Country with Mu Yue.
There were also sixty-eight genin.

After Mu Yue finished handling the Ninja Sect's affairs, two new messages promptly appeared before him.
Mu Yue calmly returned to his room, which was fortified with sealing jutsu, and retrieved his Pokemon Egg.
Based on his past experience, once a Pokemon Egg was bound to its designated hatcher, one could catch a glimpse of its silhouette. Mu Yue was curious to see what type of Pokemon the system had in store for him.
Would it be one of the starter Pokemon from various regions? Or perhaps one of those high-base-stat quasi-legendary Pokemon? Or could it even be a legendary beast?
However, when Mu Yue activated his Byakugan to inspect the large egg, something unexpected happened. He was unable to see anything within, as a dense green light obscured his vision.
Mu Yue deactivated his Byakugan and returned the Pokemon Egg to the system space. To him, this inability to see was a good thing, as it suggested that the Pokemon within was likely no ordinary creature.
Of course, there was also the possibility that this was a Pokemon Egg meant for his teacher, and the system had enhanced its anti-eavesdropping measures, hence his inability to see its contents.
Mu Yue maintained a calm demeanor, accepting either outcome.
After all, as long as it was a Pokemon, it would be more than capable of trouncing most of the summoned beasts in the world of the Fire Shadow.
Subsequently, Mu Yue did not immediately hand over the Pokemon Egg to Nagato. Instead, he mentioned that he needed to make a trip out and instructed the Ninja Sect ninjas to be vigilant during his absence.
From the perspective of the Ninja Sect ninjas, Souyuukai had always remained with them, so the origin of this Pokemon Egg became a question.
In actuality, if it weren't for the presence of Black Zetsu in the shadows, Mu Yue wouldn't have minded, as he knew his disciples wouldn't pry into its origins.
However, considering that White Zetsu was keeping watch, Mu Yue decided to put on a show, as he couldn't afford to expose his alias just yet.
With his transformation technique, even if there were similarities between Souyuukai and Mu Yue, neither Black Zetsu nor Uchiha Madara would ever suspect that they were the same person.
To prevent any unforeseen incidents, Mu Yue left a shadow clone in the Ninja Sect while his main body departed. This was to ensure that Black Zetsu wouldn't stir up any trouble in his absence.
Upon leaving the Ninja Sect, Mu Yue's main body rushed back to Konoha that very night. He had to teach a class to the Anbu the next morning, and an S-rank evaluation for an intermediate class was at stake—a reward he couldn't pass up.
...
After becoming Mu Yue's disciple, Yamato found himself visiting the Southern Border Forest more frequently, no longer limited to just Sundays.
Yamato was thrilled, as this meant he got to spend more time with Mu Yue each day, beyond those two to three hours in the evenings.
However, what Yamato didn't expect was that the Mu Yue he encountered in the Southern Border Forest was actually a shadow clone.
Initially, he had no idea, as the shadow clone's demeanor and behavior gave no indication of its true nature.
It was only after a training session ended and the Mu Yue before him dissipated into white mist that Yamato realized the Mu Yue who had been instructing him was a shadow clone.
"Teacher Mu Yue will send his shadow clone to teach us when he's busy," Kakashi explained, seeing the bewildered look on Yamato's face.
As someone who had gone through the same experience, Kakashi could even guess what Yamato was thinking at that moment.
"You're thinking that Teacher Mu Yue is so responsible, and you're glad to be his disciple, right?" Kakashi stated nonchalantly.
Yamato covered his heart, his eyes wide with surprise as he looked at Kakashi. How could this person read his mind?
"Actually, you should be covering your brain, as that's essentially what's doing the thinking," Kakashi corrected.
Yamato immediately changed his posture, covering his brain as he warily eyed Kakashi.
"You and Obito will probably have a lot in common," Kakashi concluded.
Yamato looked at Kakashi, puzzled by his words.
Obito, who was nearby and about to head home, suddenly flew into a rage, offended by the implication.
"You're the one who has that in common with him!" Obito retorted angrily.
Seeing Obito's indignant expression, Yamato felt a bit insulted himself, despite not fully understanding what was being said.
