Chapter 492: New Disciple Slots (8.4k) (Part 1)
Chapter 492: New Disciple Slots (8.4k) (Part 1)
PS: Unable to come up with reasonable and suitable third and fourth moves, the previous chapter's reward has been changed to True Qi Fist (detailed explanation in the author's note).
"Qi-gathering intensifies power. As expected of a high-level skill obtained from a scroll," Muyu thought, organizing her memories. She vaguely recalled the True Qi Fist from the Pokemon anime, but her memories of its game effects were more distinct.
In the Pokemon games, the True Qi Fist is a Fighting-type move with an impressive base power of 150. Its specific effect involves gathering qi before launching an attack.
In the system's localized version of Naruto, it is manifested as a special technique called "Qi Gathering," which involves concentrating one's chakra and physical strength in their fist before delivering a devastating punch.
In Muyu's opinion, the True Qi Fist truly maximizes the potential of the "Forceful Brick Break" ability.
It is a martial art that involves unifying all one's strength to unleash a limit-breaking physical strike.
However, the need for qi-gathering makes the True Qi Fist highly reliant on timing. Gathering qi takes time, so in a one-on-one battle, one must create opportunities to buy that time.
It is less problematic in group battles, where teammates can help stall the opponents.
Muyu took out Might Guy's training plan and added the True Qi Fist to it.
The essence of this technique lies not in the fist but in the "true qi," or the act of gathering qi.
With sufficient practice, one could even extend it to kicks and other moves, like the "True Qi Kick."
...
Towards the end of the third term, Muyu returned to the Ninja Academy, a place she hadn't taught at for over half a year.
During the first term, she would occasionally use a shadow clone to teach Class 3-1, and sometimes even go there in person when she had the time.
In the second term, she was dispatched to the Eastern Front and couldn't spare any time for classes, so she had to hire a substitute teacher with a good reputation at the academy.
In the third term, due to Konoha's losses in the war, they accelerated the ninja training program while expanding recruitment. As a result, third-year students could graduate and become full-fledged ninjas, so Class 3-1 was out on ninja internships and didn't require any teaching.
Even though she wasn't teaching, Muyu had returned to the Ninja Academy once after coming back from the battlefield to catch up with her former colleagues.
Due to the significant changes in her status and strength, Muyu could sense the restraint in her ex-colleagues, who now addressed her as "Lady Muyu."
They only relaxed a little when they saw that she maintained the same attitude as before. However, Muyu could still feel the discomfort of Ueda Aya and Ikegaya Isamu.
Thus, she didn't stay long, only chatting briefly before wandering around the school.
As the third and fourth-year students were out on internships, Muyu didn't run into many students she had taught before. After all, aside from those grades, only a handful of second-year students who had undergone her training could be considered her pupils.
Things were different now. With the end of the term and the return of the interns, the Ninja Academy had regained its usual bustle.
"Good morning, Teacher Muyu," a female voice respectfully greeted her as she walked through the school.
"Morning," Muyu smiled and nodded at Uzuki Yuu, whom she remembered well.
Uzuki Yuu had participated in the first holiday special training session during her second year, and she had been present for all three training sessions Muyu had led as the head instructor.
Hearing the exchange, the surrounding students also noticed Muyu, the legendary teacher who had left countless tales at the Ninja Academy.
"Teacher Muyu, your title is so cool," someone commented excitedly, referring to her moniker, "The Fierce Sun."
"Teacher Muyu, will you be taking on recent graduates as your disciples this year?" another student asked, eager to know if they'd have the chance to join Muyu's squad upon graduation.
"The Fierce Sun, Muyu, hero of the Eastern Front?" The lower-year students were more intrigued by her reputation than her teacher status.
Muyu, who only had one mouth, couldn't possibly reply to the hundreds of students before her, so she chose to answer the most frequently asked question.
"Unless something unexpected happens, I won't be taking on any graduate disciples in the near future," she replied.
Technically, Muyu had never been an official squad leader. Obito and Kakashi's team leader was Minato, who was busy, so Muyu helped out by accompanying them.
Many students wore disappointed expressions, as they knew how fortunate it was to be taught by Muyu.
"Everyone, please return to your respective classrooms. The exams will begin soon," Muyu said to disperse the gathering students before heading towards Class 3-1.
As she entered the classroom, most of the students had already arrived.
"An undefeated life is as lonely as snow. I hope we get some challenging missions after graduation," Anko Mitarashi said, striking a pose with her arms crossed and resting on the desk as she lamented her unmatched prowess.
Gantetsu couldn't hold back anymore. "Come on, we're all graduates now. No need to put on a show."
"When did you become undefeated? If I recall correctly, you never once placed first in the year, no, not even in the class," Gantetsu fired back.
As a close friend, he was all too aware of Anko's exam rankings. Her placement depended on how many rounds it took for Kakashi to beat her.
"When have I not been first in our third year? The past is the past. Don't bring up old things," Anko retorted, gesturing with her hands.
"If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen. If you can't accept defeat, don't take the exam. You never placed first before, and you still haven't," Anko, who had dominated the third-year class for the entire year, replied arrogantly.
"But I've theoretically gotten a perfect score."
The surrounding classmates:
6
They hadn't said anything, yet they were being ruthlessly criticized!
"How can you say that, Tie? Although a perfect score isn't difficult, it still requires hard work and studying. For those with muscles instead of brains, it's definitely impossible," Kamitsuki Izumo chided Ganzi Tie, but her words only added fuel to Anko's anger.
"Damn it, I think you two didn't eat breakfast and want to eat my fist instead!" Anko rolled up her sleeves, ready to fight.
But before she could make a move, she realized that the other students in the classroom had formed a circle around them.
"I've endured you two for a long time! It's fine to insult each other, but why drag me into it?!"
"Every time before the exam, you say you're not in a good state, and then you end up with high scores. I can't take it anymore!"
"Today is our last day at the Ninja School. Let's all go at them together; otherwise, we might not have another chance."
Anko was stunned. She hadn't expected the three of them to have secretly accumulated so much resentment.
"Actually, I've endured you and Ganzi for a long time too. I want to join in," Kamitsuki Izumo tried to join the fray.
But at that moment, the three of them were already surrounded, and Kamitsuki couldn't squeeze her way out.
"I'm heart-to-heart with my brothers. A hit on Izumo and Red Bean is a hit on me, so you might as well hit them instead," Ganzi Tie quickly said.
Anko was impressed. Her two good brothers had sold her out so quickly that she didn't even get a chance to speak.
"They're not weak. I'm the top student of the year, and I'll help you restrain them," Anko quickly added.
However, no one believed what Anko and the others were saying, and the onlooking students began to roll up their sleeves, ready for a fight.
"Teacher Muyu," a student exclaimed as he spotted Muyu entering the classroom.
Instantly, all the students turned to look at Muyu, as it had been a while since they had last seen her.
"Everyone, long time no see. I hope you haven't slacked off in your training while I wasn't teaching you," Muyu said with a smile.
Seeing her familiar gentle smile, the students felt a surge of excitement.
"No, we've always been the strongest class in school."
They were worried that their declining grades would affect Muyu, so they had been diligently studying and training, creating a positive learning atmosphere in the class.
"Mmm, you're all amazing," Muyu acknowledged with a smile.
The students below also smiled back, as many of them had come early just to catch a glimpse of Muyu.
"Since Teacher Muyu is here, let's all sit down and have our last class together," Kamitsuki Izumo said sternly.
Although the surrounding students were a little reluctant, they didn't want to disturb Muyu's class and prepared to disperse.
"Sometimes, it's good to let out your emotions," Muyu said, facing the students as she stood by the lectern.
Indeed, Anko, Ganzi, and the others occasionally slacked off.
The students instantly understood, and the loose circle around Anko's group tightened once more.
Anko and the others were dumbfounded. Was this how their reunion was going to play out?
"Ahem." Muyu cleared her throat lightly.
Anko immediately felt relieved. She knew that Teacher Muyu wouldn't just stand by and watch.
"There's an exam coming up soon, so be careful not to hurt your hands," Muyu reminded them.
Hiss.
Anko sucked in the breath she had just exhaled and glared at Muyu, her eyes wide with disbelief.
"Brothers, let's go!"
With a shout, the students in the classroom each took turns patting Anko's group on the shoulder in a friendly yet symbolic gesture.
Having been classmates for three years, they couldn't bring themselves to actually fight, even though Anko's group often acted foolishly. Still, they provided no shortage of entertainment and laughter.
After the brief scuffle, each student returned to their seats.
"Time really flies. I can't believe we're about to graduate and become ninjas," Ganzi Tie sighed.
This time, his words came from the heart. Memories of their school days flashed before his eyes, and graduation seemed to have arrived faster than he had imagined.
"Yeah," Kamitsuki Izumo nodded in agreement, his eyes also filled with emotion.
Initially, he had studied hard with the goal of becoming a good student to attract girls. But now, as graduation loomed, he realized he had never been in a relationship.
Kamitsuki counted the number of girls he was close with and sadly realized that he didn't have a single good female friend.
As for Anko, could she even be considered a girl?
"Tie, how's it going with your neighbor, Mie?" Kamitsuki Izumo asked curiously, his eyes narrowing with jealousy.
He envied Ganzi Tie for having a childhood friend.
"Don't mention it. I haven't seen her in half a year," Ganzi Tie sighed.
"Ha... It's fine. With our talent, we'll definitely become excellent ninjas in the future and attract many beautiful girls," Kamitsuki Izumo consoled him, trying to hide his smile.
It's not scary to be single, but it's terrifying if your best friend finds a partner before you.
"With your abilities, you want to attract girls? You'll be lucky if you end up as a door guard," Anko retorted, still bitter about how they had sold her out earlier.
Kamitsuki and Ganzi exchanged a glance and smiled contemptuously. They were in the top three of their year and found such low-level mockery amusing. There was no way they would end up as mere door guards.
"You're one to talk. Why don't you go and compare yourself to Shibi? He's already made a name for himself on the battlefield as Shisui of the Body Flicker and became an elite ninja," Ganzi Tie shot back.
"Tie, that's not what I meant. There are differences even among the top students. Some are first because they have unmatched strength, while others are first because they outlasted those stronger than them.
Just then, the preparatory bell for the exam rang, and the other invigilator entered the classroom.
Muyu turned to the door and saw Shimo Hakushin, the class teacher and head of the teaching department.
"Muyu," Shimo greeted with a smile.
Before coming here, Shimo had wondered how to address Muyu.
"Vice Principal Muyu"? It sounded plain and not very nice. Calling her "Principal" directly was also inappropriate, as the title was reserved for the current Hokage, Sarutobi Hiruzen, and couldn't be used casually.
After much thought, Shimo decided that calling her "Muyu" directly would be fine.
After all, he was Muyu's senior and had once been her superior for quite some time, so addressing her by her name wasn't an issue.
"Senior Shimo," Muyu smiled in response.
Shimo quickly walked into the classroom and announced the topic for this year's graduation exam to the students.
"The graduation assessment will be on the Transformation Technique."
The students listened calmly, as they were all very proficient in not just the Transformation Technique but also the Clone Technique and the Body Replacement Technique. They were confident they could handle any of these assessments.
"The graduation exam will now begin. When your name is called, please follow us to the next classroom for the exam," Muyu announced as the exam bell rang.
"Anko Mitarashi."
Hearing her name, Anko hummed a little tune as she followed Muyu to the neighboring classroom.
"You have three minutes to observe the photo's details and then use the Transformation Technique," Shimo said, handing a photo to Anko.
Anko glanced at the photo a couple of times before quickly forming the necessary hand seals.
"Transformation Technique!"
A puff of white smoke appeared, and in the next moment, an exact replica of the person in the photo stood before Shimo.
Shimo wasn't surprised, as Muyu's Class 3-1 was already known to be the strongest, and Anko was the top student after Itachi's graduation. It was only natural for her to possess such skill.
Shimo marked a perfect score on the grading sheet and handed Anko her forehead protector.
"Teacher Muyu, is there any reward for doing well on this exam? Any dumplings?" Anko asked, her eyes sparkling as she received her forehead protector.
"Yes," Muyu nodded.
"Yay!" Anko exclaimed, skipping out of the classroom joyfully.
"Yonebayashi Asako."
"Kamitsuki Izumo."
As time passed, each student from Class 3-1 completed their exam.
"If you don't continue teaching them, this might be the strongest class the Ninja School has ever seen," Shimo commented, looking at the high scores on the grading sheets.
In all his time at the Ninja School, he had never seen such an exceptional Class 3-1.
What made this class stand out wasn't the presence of a super genius like Itachi but the fact that every single student was outstanding.
