Chapter 490: Finally Taking Action
Chapter 490: Finally Taking Action
Triangle Eye pulled out a small knife and began to gesture in front of Xie Xiaofeng, while his two lackeys moved forward to grab Xie Xiaofeng's arms.
However, they failed to grasp Xie Xiaofeng, as he took two steps back, clenched his fists, and said, "You're going too far!"
"Too far?" Triangle Eye sneered, glancing at Xie Xiaofeng's buttocks. "There will be even more outrageous things in the future. You're a perfect candidate for selling your body. Who knows, maybe I'll take care of your business in the future."
Sun Xingyu looked at Triangle Eye with an expression as if she was staring at a dead person.
And then Triangle Eye died.
He was punched in the jaw, and his entire body flew out, crashing into a low wall and sliding down, as if he had turned into a puddle of mud.
Everyone was shocked.
The coachman was particularly astonished, seemingly unable to comprehend how a useless Ajie could suddenly become violent and exhibit such impressive skills.
"Kill him!"
The coachman instinctively shouted, and Triangle Eye's two lackeys subconsciously pulled out their knives and stabbed towards Xie Xiaofeng's ribs.
However, the two lackeys soon found themselves clutching their throats and falling to the ground - they were too close to Xie Xiaofeng, and his hand blades had struck their throats, crushing their larynxes.
The coachman's face turned pale, his brain momentarily numb, and he couldn't help but look at Tie Kaicheng.
Tie Kaicheng tossed another peanut into his mouth and turned to Sun Xingyu, saying, "You see, all that talk about pain, struggle, self-torment, and reluctance to fight or kill is just a facade."
Sun Xingyu nodded repeatedly.
"When the situation truly poses a threat to oneself, all those pretenses are instantly cast aside."
Tie Kaicheng spoke calmly, "It's all just a matter of whether the threat is sufficient. If it's not, people will continue to pretend."
Sun Xingyu continued to nod.
Xie Xiaofeng stood frozen, his body trembling, his hands raised in front of his eyes, lost in thought.
The coachman shifted his gaze away from Tie Kaicheng and quickly noticed Xie Xiaofeng's unusual behavior. His eyes lit up, and with a flick of his right hand, a flying knife shot out, hurtling towards Xie Xiaofeng's chest.
However, just as the knife was about to strike, Xie Xiaofeng slightly raised his hand and caught the knife. With a reverse swing, the knife lodged itself in the coachman's shoulder, rendering his right shoulder useless.
Xie Xiaofeng glanced at Tie Kaicheng and told the coachman, "I won't kill you. I want you to return alive and inform the big boss that I'm the one who killed them. If they want revenge, they should come after me and not harm innocent people."
The coachman, covered in cold sweat, nodded and said, "Alright, kid. If you're really brave, reveal your name."
Xie Xiaofeng replied, "I'm Ajie, the useless Ajie."
...
The coachman took off like a shot, as if he had truly picked up a passenger, and disappeared into the distance.
The courtyard fell silent once again.
Wa Wa and Old Miaozi looked at Xie Xiaofeng in disbelief, as if they were seeing him for the first time.
However, Xie Xiaofeng avoided their gaze, his mouth twitching, and his body trembling. After a moment, he stammered, "I'm sorry..."
"You don't need to apologize," Old Miaozi suddenly said. "I know you must have had your reasons for doing this."
Xie Xiaofeng closed his eyes, on the verge of tears.
He never expected that after wandering for years, the person who would understand him the most would be this unskilled, lowly roughneck.
The breathtakingly beautiful woman beside Tie Kaicheng looked like she wanted to laugh but dared not. She seemed to want to nod in agreement but, upon meeting his gaze, restrained herself, clearly struggling to hold back her amusement.
Tie Kaicheng turned to Old Miaozi and asked, "Despite his impressive martial arts skills, he didn't lift a finger to help you when you were in danger. If it weren't for me, that old woman might have been thrown to her death, and your sister could have been taken away. Yet, you don't blame him at all?"
Tie Kaicheng added, "And you owe him your life."
"I don't owe him my life. I merely lent him a hand. Even without me, he wouldn't have died," Old Miaozi said in a low voice. "Besides, the fact that he didn't reveal his martial arts prowess despite being bullied and stabbed shows that he has his reasons. How could I make things difficult for him because of my involvement?"
Tie Kaicheng looked at Old Miaozi in surprise. He hadn't expected the latter to be so considerate of others' circumstances.
Tie Kaicheng then turned to Wa Wa, who pursed her lips and offered Xie Xiaofeng a relieved smile, with no hint of resentment.
Tie Kaicheng addressed the elderly woman beside him, "You've raised two fine children."
Pride shone in the old woman's eyes as she replied, "They are indeed my fine daughter and son!"
The understanding and magnanimity displayed by Old Miaozi's family filled Xie Xiaofeng with guilt. "Because I've been embroiled in too much grudges and have taken too many lives in the past," he explained, his voice thick with emotion. "I vowed never to let my hands be stained with blood again."
Tie Kaicheng interrupted, "But they didn't actually intend to kill you just now."
"But that's even more disgusting than killing me!" Xie Xiaofeng exclaimed, raising his head. "Why did you do that?"
"It doesn't matter. I just wanted to see how far you could endure," Tie Kaicheng replied nonchalantly. "The fact that Old Miaozi understands you doesn't mean what you did was right."
"I never thought I was necessarily right," Xie Xiaofeng said.
"But you don't regret it at all?" Tie Kaicheng asked.
Xie Xiaofeng fell silent. He didn't know if he regretted it, but seeing the expressions on Old Miaozi's family's faces, he knew his heart was filled with pain.
"But what does this have to do with you?" Xie Xiaofeng asked.
"Do you think I came here because of you?" Tie Kaicheng countered.
"Aren't you?"
"Not entirely, at least."
"Then why are you here?"
"Why should I tell you?"
Xie Xiaofeng was taken aback. If the other party hadn't come for his sake, there was no reason to explain their motives to him.
Of course, Xie Xiaofeng had no way of knowing why Tie Kaicheng had come here, nor did he understand his connection to Old Miaozi's family.
At that moment, Old Miaozi's expression changed, and he said to Xie Xiaofeng with a stern look, "Ajie, you should leave now!"
"What?" Xie Xiaofeng was taken aback.
"With your exceptional martial arts skills, it's clear that we're not of the same ilk," Old Miaozi said calmly. "We won't hold you back any longer."
Xie Xiaofeng's eyes flickered as he understood Old Miaozi's implication.
"I'm not leaving," Xie Xiaofeng shook his head.
Old Miaozi, lacking in cunning, anxiously said, "The big boss has several hundred henchmen, and the three most formidable ones are renowned experts within a few hundred li. Ajie, your martial arts skills are decent, but you're no match for them!"
