Chapter 490: A Beautiful World
Chapter 490: A Beautiful World
The commotion attracted the attention of several Pokemon residing on the ranch.
Before long, Z2, in its 10% Duoblade Form, found itself surrounded.
The surrounding Pokemon gazed at it curiously.
Z2 felt a tinge of nervousness.
Just then, it heard the human speak.
"When did you arrive here?" Naoki asked, intrigued.
Both Groudon and Kyogre, as well as Rayquaza and Ho-Oh, had been drawn to the World Tree on the day it matured.
If his guess was correct, then Giratina must have also taken notice of the happenings here around that time.
Thus, it had sent its cells and core to observe this place.
And indeed, Naoki's conjecture was accurate.
Perhaps due to the covert observations over the past few months, the Z2 before him seemed familiar.
After a brief moment of contemplation, Z2 spoke, "Last summer." It communicated via telepathy.
Hearing this, Naoki inwardly acknowledged that his guess was right. The World Tree had matured last summer.
"Were you here to observe as well?" He inquired further.
Z2 retained its 10% Doberman Form. With its pale eyes, it nodded slightly, affirming Naoki's question.
Ever since then, it had been quietly observing this place and the humans living here from inconspicuous locations.
It could sense that the natural aura in this place was exceptionally rich.
Originally, there were no cells of its kind on this land.
But later, Giratina, in order to better observe the World Tree and the ecosystem of this region, sent more of its cells to monitor the ecosystem here.
"I see," Naoki nodded thoughtfully.
However, Z2 detected a hint of strangeness in his tone and behavior.
"Thou knowest of me," it stated with certainty.
"Of course," Naoki did not deny it. "One of Giratina's cores, a watcher of ecosystems. If I'm not mistaken, you were also drawn here by a natural aura, weren't you?"
Z2 took note of Naoki's choice of words.
"'Also'?"
Were there other beings besides itself that had been attracted here?
But upon further reflection, it made sense. Such a commotion would inevitably attract the attention of some powerful entities.
"In human terms, they are probably Pokemon of the same caliber as you," Naoki mused.
He continued, "Never mind that. Come, let me take you on a tour of that place, for Softy's sake!"
Based on his observations, this form of Giratina, like Groudon, would not be able to reach the World Tree by flying.
"Softy?" Z2 was slightly taken aback.
Naoki: "It was just fused with you."
Z2: "..."
Z2's feelings were mixed. It understood what the human meant.
But that was merely its cell, a part of its body, devoid of its own consciousness.
"Let's go," Naoki glanced at the time, feeling that he could first take Giratina to visit the World Tree before heading to the Dusty Shrine.
Without further ado, Z2 silently followed behind Naoki.
In its eyes, this human was different from others.
While most humans were disruptors of the ecological order, this human named Naoki was someone chosen by nature.
The two, human and Pokemon, traversed the Reverse World and soon arrived at the World Tree.
As they stepped out of the portal, Z2 widened its eyes, taking in the surroundings.
It sensed a rich natural aura, as if it were in the very embrace of nature itself.
Being here felt like a return to the comfort of its mother's arms.
"To think there is such a place, even I was unaware..." Z2 murmured.
Overhead was a massive canopy that blocked out the sky, and sunlight filtered through the gaps, casting an ethereal glow upon the forest.
What surprised Z2 even more was the multitude of Pokemon living here! They cultivated tree fruits, tilled the soil, and lived orderly lives!
"This is the interior of the World Tree," Naoki explained with a smile. "The natural aura you sensed before is emanating from this tree."
"So that's how it is..."
After a brief moment of astonishment, Z2 quickly regained its composure.
"The ecosystem of this world had already started to become precarious. In the land where I dwell, traces of negative energy cores have appeared."
"Negative energy cores?" Naoki turned to the dog-like Pokemon beside him.
Z2 nodded and continued, "They are anomalies that occur when the ecosystem is disrupted."
"Gigantic plants will grow on the land, invisible to humans and Pokemon alike. Only I can perceive their presence.
"But now, after this tree has grown, all the negative energy is gone. I believe that the power it released repaired the damaged ecosystem." Z2 said quietly.
Naoki wasn't too surprised by this.
After all, one of the described abilities of the World Tree was that it would bring about change to the entire world once it matured.
The restoration of the ecosystem was likely one of those changes.
"That's a good thing," Naoki said.
Z2 neither agreed nor disagreed. "Regardless, I must express my gratitude to you."
Based on its observations over the past few months, it knew that the human before it had nurtured this World Tree.
Nature had chosen him.
This was the first time Naoki had heard a Legendary Pokemon express gratitude towards him.
He couldn't help but give Z2 a second glance. So this was an ecological overseer?
Its way of thinking was indeed different from other Pokemon.
"Are you going to stay here?" Naoki asked.
Just like Groudon and the others, they would live on the World Tree from then on.
However, Z2 refused.
"No, I have more important things to do." It shook its head. "The ecosystem has only been temporarily repaired. As long as humans exist, the ecological order will inevitably be disrupted again one day. I must continue to fulfill my duty."
Naoki: "......It's not that exaggerated, is it?"
If one were to go by Z2's words, wouldn't humans be the source of all evil in this world?
"Humans are complex and diverse." Z2 shook its head. "You won't disrupt the ecological order, but there will always be some humans who will disrupt the existing order and give rise to the birth of negative energy cores."
Hearing this, Naoki was left speechless.
Georde was right; while some people protected the ecosystem, there would also be those who would destroy it.
The most severe case was probably the antagonist, Lysandre, from the Kalos region.
Lysandre was a complex individual.
In his youth, he often led Team Flare to aid the impoverished people of the Kalos region.
However, after being helped, those people took their actions for granted and even demanded more handouts from Lysandre.
This led to Lysandre's extreme ideology; he attempted to use the power of a Legendary Pokemon to destroy the current world and create a beautiful utopian world.
But all that was a story for another time.
At this point in the timeline, the events of the Kalos region had yet to unfold.
Z2 didn't stay long at the World Tree.
After understanding the source of that natural energy and the current state of this land, it left the World Tree and returned to the earth.
However, Z2 didn't leave the ranch.
After all, it was now responsible for overseeing the order of the Partea region.
Watching strands of green light fly out from Z2's body and disappear into the distance, Naoki asked, "For you, are those cells like surveillance cameras?"
"Surveillance cameras?" Z2, now back in its blue core form, looked at him in confusion.
"It means you can observe what's happening in other places through them," Naoki explained.
Z2 nodded. "Yes."
"So, your main body is in the Kalos region, right?" Naoki asked out of curiosity.
Georde was a unique Pokemon, different from others. It was composed of countless cells and cores, and its form changed depending on the number of cells.
The 10% Forme Georde was a Doberman, skilled in close-quarters combat and attacking with its sharp teeth.
The 50% Forme Georde was usually the main body.
It lived deep within a cave, using scattered cells and cores to monitor the Pokemon ecosystem for any abnormalities, acting as a guardian.
When all the cells and cores gathered, Georde would transform into its 100% Complete Forme.
This form of Georde resembled a Gundam and possessed overwhelming power. It was a battle-specialized form that allowed Georde to unleash its full strength to fulfill its mission of protecting the ecosystem.
Hearing Naoki's question, Z2 nodded. "Yes, it was the main body that sent me and the other cells to this place."
The main body was currently deep within a cave, monitoring changes in the ecosystem.
Naoki inwardly acknowledged this.
He recalled the anime storyline where Team Flare went to the Terminus Cave to capture Georde, and he felt compelled to give a warning:
"I think you should remind your main body to be cautious and perhaps move to another cave. I have a feeling that humans have already begun planning to capture it."
"Because I used Foresight," Naoki replied.
Z2: "..."
At that moment, Naoki stood up. "Alright, let's leave it at that for now. I have some things to take care of, and if you want to stay at the ranch, feel free to do so! Gurdun, let's go!"
"Agas!" Gurdun, who had been waiting by his side, immediately responded.
It glanced at Z2 and then at Naoki, who was turning to leave, and quickly followed after him.
Z2 was left alone on the rock.
It tried to sense its main body, but the distance was too far, and it couldn't establish a connection.
For this trip, Naoki brought along Gurdun, Motostoke, Dragonite, Pawniard, Vibrava, and Trevenant—a total of six Pokemon.
The distance from the ranch to the Dusty Shrine wasn't too far.
First, they crossed the vast Pot Lake and then went over a mountain to reach the Potbarin region.
With the Lotom phone's navigation and Rehe's given location, Naoki quickly found the Dusty Shrine after just twenty minutes.
It was located deep within a small island in the middle of a pond, with waterfalls flowing down on both sides. The gurgling streams converged into a small river, encircling the island.
The island had complex terrain, with uneven valleys as far as the eye could see.
The Dusty Shrine was situated in a secluded spot, nestled in a mountain hollow. Sheer cliffs flanked it, and four massive chains securely sealed the entrance.
"I didn't expect Rehe's location to be so accurate," Naoki mused.
He walked up and pulled on one of the thick chains, but they didn't budge.
Naoki paused and took a picture with his Lotom phone, sending it to Rehe.
Rehe quickly responded:
[Rehe: You found the place?! Great, it looks like my investigation was on the right track!]
[Rayquaza: Now we need to find the stakes and pull them out, right?]
[Rehe: Yes! If I'm not mistaken, those stakes are distributed on that mountain. There are a total of eight of them, and once they're all pulled out, the seal will be automatically released!]
[Rehe: Also, be extremely careful not to use brute force to destroy the seal, or the power of the seal may cause the mountain to collapse!]
Naoki: "......"
He gazed at the shrine, which emanated a faint green glow, and thought to himself that the ancient technology in the Pokemon world was truly something else.
The shrine before him was clearly not an ordinary one, and if Naoki remembered correctly, those stakes were also made with special powers.
In the game, once they were pulled out, the stakes would turn to dust and disappear, and the corresponding chains would unlock automatically.
[Rayquaza: Alright, I understand. I'll go look for the sealing stakes now.]
"Rehe: Good luck! The Dust Shrine seals the Calamity Pokemon, Ancient Pronghorn, according to ancient texts. It's said to have the ability to cause earthquakes, so be very careful! It's been sealed away for so many years; it's bound to be in a foul mood."
Naoki put away his phone and mounted Gurdun, instructing it, "Let's fly around this mountain and take a look!"
Finding eight tiny stakes on such a large mountain wouldn't be easy.
"Agas!"
Gurdun responded and spread its wings, soaring into the air and circling the mountain.
Naoki carefully scrutinized the mountain below.
At the foot of the mountain was the Potbarin region, and a path led up to the summit through a lush pine forest teeming with wild Pokemon.
Seasonal deer, Budding deer, Frenaros, and Heracross...
The Northern Padian Sea lay to the north, and the Great Pot Lake to the south, with no towns nearby, making the area seem sparsely populated.
Suddenly, Gurdun, who was carrying Naoki, let out a warning cry.
"Agas!"
Naoki looked intently and spotted a stake emitting a faint blue glow next to a large rock.
He patted Gurdun's shoulder, and Gurdun landed beside it.
Naoki curiously examined the stake and took a picture with his Lotom phone before reaching out and pulling it out with force.
The next second, the stake turned to dust and vanished.
"Seven more to go," Naoki said to himself.
However, with only his strength, he didn't know how long it would take to find the rest.
Therefore, Naoki decisively took out three Poke Balls.
With three flashes of white light, Pawniard, Dragonite, and Vibrava appeared before him.
Naoki showed them the picture he had taken: "Everyone, help me look for this near here!"
The Pokemon sprang into action.
