Chapter 487: The Second Encounter with Bellatrix
Chapter 487: The Second Encounter with Bellatrix
Bellatrix, who had rushed onto the rooftop, first looked around nervously upon discovering the mysterious white mist that had appeared. After confirming that no one else was present, she immediately focused her attention on Gill.
"Cruciatus!" After a few seconds, seeing no reaction from the person opposite her, Bellatrix swiftly cast the Cruciatus Curse. However, to her surprise, the spell did not hit the young girl, who appeared to be deep in thought. Instead, the girl transformed into a cloud of mist, allowing the spell to pass through her, before reassembling and standing in her original position.
"What?" Bellatrix's eyes widened in shock. She had followed Voldemort for many years and had seen many strange phenomena, but she had never encountered anything as bizarre as the girl in front of her. Nevertheless, as an experienced Dark Wizard, she quickly took what she believed to be the most appropriate action at that moment.
Multiple spells rapidly shot from her wand, from Flamespell to Killing Curse, raining down on Gill like a storm. However, the girl seemed to merge with the surrounding mist, effortlessly shifting between solid and ethereal forms. Each spell missed her with ease.
"Now it's my turn", Gill said in a clear voice, her face wearing a smile as pure as an angel's. Bellatrix immediately had a bad feeling. As she dodged to the side, a cold flash of light whistled past her arm, leaving a trail of blood.
"Such a pity. My dear mother and uncle don't like you, so please, die." Gill spoke calmly while controlling four sharp knives to attack Bellatrix. Bellatrix could only transform into a black mist, relying on her extensive combat experience to evade the relentless assaults. She realized that despite her seasoned skills, she could not keep up with Gill's movements, predict her next move, or mount an effective counterattack.
"Forgive me, my great Master. I must destroy the gift you have given me." With several new wounds, Bellatrix knew that she would bleed to death if this continued. In desperation, she infused her magic power into the silver prosthetic legs Voldemort had given her. She believed that this incident indicated the emergence of a new group of enemies in Britain, distinct from the Order of the Phoenix, and she had to survive to inform her Master, Voldemort.
Due to the Heavenly Retribution power of the magic Liam had used last time, even Voldemort could not regrow the lower legs of his most loyal follower. Thus, he had created a pair of silver prosthetic legs for Bellatrix. These prosthetics not only functioned like normal legs but also contained a powerful magic from Voldemort. Now, Bellatrix could only activate this magic by destroying the gift from her Master, hoping it would give her a chance to survive.
Instantly, Bellatrix's legs below the knees glowed with a brilliant silver light. The powerful magic within the light was so strong that it illuminated even the thick, almost solid mist surrounding them.
"Dissolving Madonna." Upon realizing Bellatrix's full-force attack, Gill unexpectedly chose to counterattack. A dense, black mist tinged with bloodlight enveloped her feet. She then charged forward, the black mist pushing against the silver light column, and as an observer, Rose Crystal saw a purple-red light pierce through the silver light and Bellatrix's body. Gill then appeared behind Bellatrix, kneeling on one knee.
However, Bellatrix also seemed to be severely injured. Taking advantage of the momentary weakening of the mist after the large-scale magic release, she quickly bolted out, not even glancing at the possibly injured Gill, let alone attempting a finishing blow.
Her extensive combat experience saved her. At that moment, Rose Crystal was hiding beside Gill. If Bellatrix had attempted a finishing blow, Rose Crystal would have held her back for a few seconds, allowing Liam and Hermione to join the attack. In Bellatrix's severely injured state, such a confrontation would have been a death sentence.
After Bellatrix left, the fog also dissipated. Gill bowed elegantly to Liam and Hermione, who had just jumped onto the roof, then transformed into mist and entered Rose Crystal’s abdomen.
"——That's what happened. However, Gill was quite badly injured in the final attack and will need to rest in my body for about a month to recover. Of course, Bellatrix wasn't left unscathed either", Rose Crystal explained the events of the battle. She then pulled out a transparent purple Crystal Orb from behind her back, which contained a bloody, oval-shaped human organ.
"This is—", Hermione's expression showed shock as she recognized it as a human left kidney. "Why is her magic so... so strange?"
"Magic is information transmitted by this world's World Consciousness to her counterpart, making it a part of the world's rules and manifestations", Rose Crystal answered, her eyes vacant for a few seconds as she relayed Gill's explanation. "Gill also told me that to initiate such a Curse attack, three conditions must be met: it must be nighttime, the target must be female, and there must be fog. Also, she feels a strange sense of familiarity with Whitechapel. Big Brother, what do you think of that?"
"Really?" Liam turned his head and met Hermione's gaze. From her eyes, Liam knew she had also figured out Gill's true identity. "Jack the Ripper is actually a girl."
"What's wrong with being a girl?" Hermione and Rose Crystal said in unison, both glaring at Liam. He quickly added, "Isn't our world's Jack the Ripper supposed to be a man? I just find it a bit strange. But whoever she is, she is undoubtedly part of our family now."
"You—will accept me?" Jack the Ripper, or now known as Gill, floated out of Rose Crystal's body, her eyes brimming with excitement. "Even after knowing I was a deranged killer?"
"Idiot, it wasn't you who killed. We won't hold the actions of another you against you", Rose Crystal flew up and gently held Gill's face, her expression serious. "I only know that you are my beloved daughter now."
"Thank you, thank you all!" Gill shed a tear, and with it, the dark aura and resentment around her began to dissipate. After bowing earnestly to everyone, she returned to Rose Crystal's body to rest and heal her wounds.
"Having a legendary killer as my niece doesn't sound too bad", Hermione sighed in relief. Her initial shock was due to the infamous name of Jack the Ripper in Britain. Discovering the legendary figure was right in front of her was naturally startling. But after calming down, she realized she had shed more blood than the innocent Gill, so it didn't seem so unusual anymore.
They quickly cleaned up the battlefield and freed all the hostages before leaving. As they had suspected, the four Death Eaters they had killed were all new recruits they didn't recognize. One was a Werewolf, and the other three had distinctly Southern European features. This indicated that Voldemort's resurrection had indeed attracted much of the scum from across Europe to his cause, explaining the large number of Death Eaters at his disposal.
Before they left, Rose Crystal had Gill use her magic to erase the memories of those present, further erasing any traces they might have left behind.
"What are you smiling about?" On their way back, Hermione noticed Liam's smile and asked curiously.
"I'm just thinking that the Dark Lord's reaction to our gift will be priceless", Liam said with a light-hearted tone.
