Chapter 485: Purchasing Land
Chapter 485: Purchasing Land
The Alola region is a very special place, unique compared to other regions.
There is no Pokemon League established there yet, but it is guarded by four legendary Pokemon known as the Island Guardians.
These four Pokemon are the legendary Tapu siblings of the Alola region.
One of them, Tapu Lele, serves as the guardian of Akala Island.
If Naoki's memory serves him right, that's also where Kachi's home is located.
Indeed, Akala Island is an ideal place for a ranch, more so than the other main islands.
The volcanic ash that used to drift from the volcano and settle on the land has enriched the soil, making it exceptionally fertile.
With this in mind, Naoki made up his mind.
He asked the real estate agent on the phone, "Can I take a look at the property first?"
"Of course. Are you currently in the Alola region? I can come and pick you up, and we can go to Akala Island together."
Naoki was about to say no, but then he realized that with Giratina's Reverse World as a shortcut, it would only take two to three hours to get to Alola.
Since it was snowing heavily in the Patia region and he had nothing better to do, he decided to take this opportunity to visit Alola and check out the property.
"I have something to take care of first. I should be able to make it to Heahea City in about two hours," Naoki replied.
"No problem. I'll wait for you here."
After ending the call and exchanging friend codes, Naoki received a location share from the agent.
He took a quick look and then gave his sister, Aiguanshi, some instructions before preparing to set off for the Alola region on Golurk.
"You guys stay here and have fun. I'll be back soon. And you, Mu Zhaigou, make sure you eat your meals properly while I'm gone," Naoki said, reaching out to pat Mu Zhaigou's head.
"Woof!"
Mu Zhaigou barked happily, wagging his tail as he saw Naoki off. He stood in the snow, watching them until they were out of sight.
Even after Naoki's figure had completely disappeared from view, Mu Zhaigou continued to wag his tail, still looking in the direction they had gone.
Babutuobo and Motuoxi also gazed in that direction.
Suddenly, a gust of cold wind, carrying snowflakes, swept through.
Motuoxi shivered.
Aiguanshi gently called out to them, "Ai Yi" ("Come on in.")
. Then, the Pokemon hurried back inside the house.
With Naoki away, Motuoxi felt bored.
The Eevees ran off to play on the World Tree, and Shuangnaixian went to the Salt House to play with Yanshi Juling.
Only Aiguanshi, her brother, Mu Zhaigou, Babutuobo, Motuoxi, Zhenyifa, Feilong, and Mini Long remained in the house.
Just then, Babutuobo came up with an idea to cure their boredom.
Excitedly, he suggested to the group, "Ba Mo!" ("Let's play hide-and-seek!")
.
Meanwhile, Naoki and Golurk were speeding through the Reverse World.
After nearly two hours of flying, they finally arrived in the Alola region.
Standing on a bustling street, they saw crowds of people and Pokemon from various regions all around them.
According to the map app, they had arrived in Heahea City on Melemele Island.
As one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Pokemon world, especially with the added appeal of the season, Heahea City was buzzing with activity.
Naoki was overwhelmed by the sheer number of people.
Not wanting to get swept away in the crowd, he quickly led Golurk to the side and took out his phone to navigate.
Fortunately, the real estate agency wasn't far from their current location. After crossing a few streets, the two of them arrived at the agency.
Naoki went upstairs and explained his purpose for the visit, and soon a man in a business suit approached him.
"Are you Mr. Naoki?" the man asked.
"Yes, that's me," Naoki nodded slightly.
"Welcome to the Alola region. Please wait a moment while I take you to Akala Island to show you the ranch."
The man turned and handed his work to a colleague before returning to Naoki and saying,
"Now then, shall we be off? How would you like to travel to Akala Island? We could take a yacht and enjoy the beautiful tropical ocean scenery, or we could take a flying Pokemon taxi directly there."
"Let's just fly there directly!" Naoki thought for a moment before replying, "My Pokemon can fly."
Hearing this, the man glanced curiously at Golurk beside Naoki. "Quite a powerful Pokemon you have there! In that case, let's head over directly!"
As he spoke, the man also took out a Poke Ball.
With a flash of white light, a Salamence appeared before Naoki.
The man mounted his Salamence, and Naoki climbed onto Golurk. Together, they set off toward Akala Island.
Gradually, the ground below them grew distant, and Heahea City was left behind. Below, the ocean sparkled in the sunlight, and above, the sky was a deep azure blue. A few Longtail Pidgey soared through the sky, their cries filling the air.
"That's right, I'm from the Patia region," Naoki nodded.
"No wonder, I've heard that agricultural products from the Patia region are very popular! Every month, there are special cargo ships that bring loads of agricultural products to Alola." The man smiled, appearing to be a fan of Patia's produce.
"I guess it's because many farmers in Patia worship the Harvest King, Tapu Bulu," the high priest of the Tapu Bulu religion started his preaching again.
As expected, the man in front of him was attracted by this topic.
"Tapu Bulu? Is that the legendary Pokemon that can go online?"
"Yes, it's incredible that there are Pokemon in this world that can use human machines," Naoki pretended to be a bystander, his face expressionless as he spoke.
"Pokemon are quite smart. My Charizard watches movies with me," the man patted the head of the Charizard beneath him.
The Charizard spat a burst of fire, excitedly responding to its trainer.
Both Pokemon flew at high speeds, and soon, a lush green island appeared on the distant horizon.
A volcano stood on the island, surrounded by lush vegetation.
Upon seeing this, the man said, "We've arrived! This is Akala Island! I remember the ranch is located near Heahea Town!"
As they approached their destination, the Charizard began to descend towards the ground.
Naoki and Golurk followed closely behind. After passing through a stretch of dense wilderness, a rustic western-style town came into view.
The town was small, with primitive dirt roads connecting the buildings, and a strong cowboy vibe permeated the area.
Naoki even felt like the next second, a cowboy in a jacket would ride out from the main road on a horse and engage in a gunfight with another gang.
Fortunately, his fantasy didn't come true. The two continued on their way, soon passing through the town and flying towards the distant wilderness.
Gradually, the surroundings became sparse, and a vast plain came into view.
The plain was covered in fertile grass, with a meandering stream cutting through it.
Not far away, a ranch enclosed by a fence stood on the plain.
"We're here!"
The man riding the Charizard landed in the ranch, with Naoki and Golurk right behind him.
"The owner of this ranch is a young man. Not long ago, he moved his entire family to the Kalos region. They plan to sell this place, and they're asking for 2 million Pokedollars," the man explained.
2 million...
That was quite a large sum for such a vast piece of land, along with the villa.
"I'd like to take a look around," Naoki said. In this regard, he was an expert.
"No problem," the man nodded.
Naoki first took a tour of the ranch and found that the facilities were very comprehensive.
There was a barn for Milktanks, pens for Wooloos, a stable for Mudbrays, and small houses for Pokemon like Rockruffs.
Naoki knew that places like these usually had Rockruffs or similar canine Pokemon to watch over the ranch.
In addition, there was even a spacious pasture for Tauros to run freely.
When Naoki first laid eyes on this pasture, he was tempted.
"It's said that the previous owner raised fifty Tauros here. It was quite a spectacular sight to see them running around in the field every day!" the man said, gazing at the pasture.
Naoki nodded and looked around, asking, "What about farmland? Is there any suitable land for cultivation?"
"Farmland? Of course. Due to the climate of the Alola region, some crops from other regions may not grow well here," the man said as he led Naoki to a large plot of abandoned farmland. "The locals in Alola tend to grow crops and fruit trees like coconut trees, guavas, mangoes, bananas, pineapples, coffee beans, and sugarcane."
Coffee beans could be used to make coffee, and sugarcane could be processed into sugar. These Alolan specialties were often sold to other regions.
Naoki nodded thoughtfully.
The Alola region had a typical tropical marine climate, with small annual temperature variations and warm, humid, and rainy weather throughout the year.
These conditions promoted the lush growth of vegetation, with palm trees and tree ferns dominating the wild.
After inspecting the exterior, it was time to move on to the villa.
Although it was called a villa, its scale wasn't enormous.
The house had three stories and was much larger than Naoki's current residence.
Its interior was fully equipped with a living room, kitchen, dining room, bedrooms, guest rooms, study, wine cellar, and an oversized bathroom.
With that decision made, the two of them returned to Melemele Island.
The distance between the islands in the Alola region was not far, and even riding on a regular flying Pokemon would get them to their destination within twenty minutes, let alone with the speed of Pokemon like Charizard and Dragonite.
Naoki paid the amount, and in return, he received the land deed and property ownership documents.
From that moment on, the land and the ranch belonged to him!
Leaving the real estate agency with the documents in hand, Naoki looked around, intending to buy some gifts for the Pokemon back at the ranch.
The Alola region boasted many specialties, the most famous of which was a fried dough pastry called Malasada.
Naoki, accompanied by Golurk, bought several large bags of these pastries from a street-side shop, planning to bring them back for the Pokemon to taste.
Additionally, he purchased some coconuts and pineapples, tropical fruits rarely seen in the Patia region.
Next, Naoki prepared to head to an uninhabited lakeside area to contact Giratina and ask it to open the door to the Reverse World.
However, just at that moment, Naoki suddenly heard a familiar voice.
"Naoki?"
He turned around and spotted Yeci, dressed in a bikini, standing not far away, looking at him with surprise.
"What a coincidence! Chief Yeci!" Naoki smiled and greeted her. After all, he had heard from Qishu that Yeci had come to the Alola region for a vacation this year.
Yeci: "Are you also vacationing in the Alola region?"
Naoki shook his head: "I came here to take care of some business. I'll be heading back soon."
He didn't tell Yeci about his purchase of property in Alola, lest she think he was running away again.
As expected, upon hearing this, Yeci secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
A smile appeared on her face. "In that case, you should get going! If there's anything you need help with, feel free to contact me."
Indeed, Yeci had helped him a lot, whether it was with the Eevee egg or the ancient coin for Seihoka's evolution. Thinking of this, Naoki smiled and nodded.
"Then I won't disturb you any longer, Chief Yeci. Enjoy your vacation!"
Yeci clasped her hands together and laughed softly. "I'm really looking forward to your wedding with Qishu! When the time comes, let me be the witness for your marriage!"
Naoki: "......Isn't that a bit too early?"
He keenly sensed something amiss from Yeci's expression, and combined with their previous encounter during the fireworks festival, Naoki suddenly realized that Yeci seemed to be overly concerned about his marriage.
However, Yeci gently shook her head. "Time passes by quickly. Just look, in the span of three years, the world has already undergone tremendous changes. Perhaps in the blink of an eye, we'll all be old!"
Naoki sincerely asked, "So, Chief Yeci, do you plan on getting married?"
If he recalled correctly, Yeci would be turning thirty in a few years.
Yeci: "Perhaps I'll get married after I find the next Patia Chief Champion. But, of course, it all depends on fate."
Naoki: "......"
After bidding farewell to Yeci, Naoki returned to the Patia region via the Reverse World.
By the time he arrived at the ranch, the blizzard had finally stopped.
Naoki and Golurk entered the house, carrying their bags of purchases, only to find Babutuobo alone.
Naoki was surprised. "Where is everyone?"
Babutuobo: "Ba Mo!" (We're playing hide-and-seek!)
Naoki immediately understood and said to Babutuobo, "Hold on a moment. I brought back some delicious treats from outside. Come and have a taste!"
Then, he shouted into the house, "Everyone, come out!"
The next second, various Pokemon emerged from all directions.
In the blink of an eye, a large group of Pokemon gathered before Naoki.
He took out the Malasadas and other specialties from his bag and distributed them to the Pokemon.
Motuoxi received a piece of Malasada, and it seemed to enjoy the taste of the fried dough pastry.
Mu Zhaigou picked up a tropical fruit and wagged his tail happily as he ate it.
The Ai Gushi siblings took the pineapple that Naoki handed to them. Having seen this fruit before, they knew what to do.
As for Zhenyifa, it used its wing claws to hold a coconut.
It looked left and right, then imitated Babutuobo eating chocolate beans by opening its mouth wide and taking a bite.
A loud crack sounded out, but the coconut remained intact, and Zhenyifa was left stunned, its eyes wide with shock. Clearly, it had bitten into its tooth.
"Ow!"
Zhenyifa hurriedly covered its aching tooth with its wing claw, unable to believe what had happened.
Naoki: "......"
Who eats a coconut like that?
He quickly stepped forward to check Zhenyifa's tooth, relieved to find that the ancient Pokemon's teeth were strong enough to withstand the impact without any damage.
