Chapter 485: Now I Can See It Too!
Chapter 485: Now I Can See It Too!
Since the matter had been resolved, everyone dispersed from the small classroom.
"I really don't understand why Professor Dumbledore applauded Malfoy. It was Malfoy who wanted to get rid of Professor Lupin, and now he's suddenly changed his mind, and we have to praise him for it?"
In the corridors of Hogwarts Castle, Ron was still thinking about what had happened in the classroom, voicing his dissatisfaction.
"What can we do? If Malfoy had said a few more words, Professor Lupin's identity would definitely have been exposed!" Hermione explained, then stuck out her tongue and continued.
"Perhaps to Professor Dumbledore, Malfoy is like a crying child who needs a sweet to calm down."
Harry and Ron couldn't help but laugh at Hermione's analogy—it was too apt!
Ivan also smiled, but he felt that Dumbledore's thoughts were not so simple.
Even the old professor's casual actions were a form of guidance, perhaps to show Malfoy another way to gain attention and glory, rather than resorting to bad ideas to draw attention.
After the Great Hall Award Ceremony, Hogwarts Castle returned to its usual tranquility. Everyone was enjoying the last bit of time before the end of the term, until the day the exam results were announced!
Ivan unsurprisingly achieved outstanding results in all subjects, even in Trelawney's Divination class!
During the divination exam, he pretended to see a terrifying omen in the crystal ball, predicting that the wizarding world would soon face a storm of blood and violence.
Professor Trelawney was delighted and praised him for having the gift of a seer, even asking if he was interested in further study.
However, Ivan firmly declined!
He felt that Trelawney's prophetic abilities relied entirely on talent, and except for specific situations where her abilities would spike, she was otherwise just an amateur.
During the exam, he had predicted not just turmoil in the British wizarding world, but across all of Europe!
He wanted to see if Trelawney could correct this, but she didn't even notice.
Perhaps, as the school rumors suggested, Trelawney simply enjoyed hearing prophecies about slaughter, death, and disaster.
"This is impossible!"
Just as Ivan was thinking, Hermione suddenly screamed, her hand trembling as she looked at her report card.
"What's wrong?" Ivan asked, surprised.
"My Divination class grade is only an A (Acceptable). I've never received such a low evaluation!" Hermione said, disappointed, then muttered that she should have seen it coming.
Harry and Ron, upon hearing this, rolled their eyes. Their report cards were mostly filled with A (Acceptable), with only Defense Against the Dark Arts, Divination class, and Herbology receiving E (Exceeds Expectations).
But Ron couldn't help but comment, "If you had told Professor Trelawney that we would all fall from the ceiling and die tomorrow, she would have given you the highest grade!"
Hermione shook her head. After the previous two prophecy incidents, she was very sensitive about such matters and wouldn't dare to make false predictions, just in case they came true.
Considering they would be leaving Hogwarts together by train in the afternoon, the group chatted casually as they returned to their dormitories to pack their belongings.
Of course, only Harry and Ron were busy packing.
Ivan casually waved his wand, and the bedding and a large amount of clothing flew up, automatically folding in mid-air before being stored in a small suitcase that had been enchanted with an Extension Charm.
Books and other miscellaneous items were similarly organized in no time.
"Is this a magical item you created? It’s really convenient!" Harry looked at Ivan lifting the suitcase with ease and then glanced at his own cumbersome trunk, feeling quite envious.
"Yes, I made it myself! If everything goes smoothly, you’ll be able to buy one before the next school year starts", Ivan said with a smile.
This portable suitcase was another clear sign of his improvement in Alchemy.
After reading through the alchemical books left by Bock, Ivan had extracted the corresponding runes. After a period of study and research, he combined them into a rune sequence that had a similar effect to the Extension Charm, capable of expanding the internal space of an object.
On this trip back, he would teach this rune sequence to Asia, adding another popular magical item to their family’s magic shop.
Just as when they arrived, after lunch, Ivan and the others boarded the carriage parked on Cobblestone Road, swaying as they made their way to Hogwarts Station.
Hermione, captivated, gazed out the window at the skeletal, bat-winged creatures pulling the carriage, lost in thought for a long time.
Ivan followed Hermione’s gaze and realized she was looking at the Thestrals.
"What are you looking at? There’s nothing there", Harry asked, puzzled, with Ron also looking confused.
"Thestrals", Hermione explained, seeing the puzzled expressions on Harry and the others. "These carriages aren’t moving on their own; they’re pulled by Thestrals. They’re a very special magical creature that can only be seen by those who have witnessed death."
At this, Hermione couldn't help but think of Luna, pursing her lips before she brightened up, muttering to herself, "But now I can see them too!"
Hearing Hermione’s low murmur, Ivan silently shook his head, not quite understanding why seeing Thestrals was something to be happy about. If given the choice, most people would prefer never to see them at all.
【Ding, the school year has ended. Would you like to review your year?】
The system’s prompt pulled Ivan out of his musings. He silently agreed, and the system’s interface appeared before his eyes.
【As of today, your performance for the school year is as follows:
Class Evaluation: Perfect
Reward: 200 House Points
Final Exam Results: Transfiguration Class (Outstanding), Divination (Outstanding), Defense Against the Dark Arts (Outstanding)
Reward: 900 House Points
Honors: Quidditch Cup (100 House Points), Gryffindor House Cup (100 House Points).
Total Reward: 1300 House Points】
Due to the addition of several elective courses, the year-end summary rewards were significantly higher than the previous two years.
Combined with the points he had reserved earlier, he now had a total of three thousand House Points!
This would be his reliance for learning Alchemy with Nicolas Flamel during the summer.
Ivan believed that as long as he could demonstrate his talent, the alchemical master had no reason not to take him as a disciple.
