Chapter 485: Disaster Level: God!
Chapter 485: Disaster Level: God!
"Even Tornado..."
"How could this be..."
Within the Hero Association, the air hung heavy and stagnant.
Both the staff and the supervisors, their eyes glued to the surveillance footage, found themselves in a state of stunned disbelief.
The second-ranked S-Class hero, Tornado, had been defeated!
This was unprecedented. Many monsters couldn't withstand even a single attack from Tornado, and to date, there had been no record of any monster that could push her to a tough battle. Yet, Tornado, whom the Hero Association regarded as their ultimate weapon, had been beaten, crushed by the monster on the screen just like any other S-Class hero.
Elsewhere, within the Monster Association.
Psyche, her eyes fixed on the screen, found herself in a similar state of shock. She couldn't quite believe what she was seeing, and the red wine in the glass she held spilled onto the floor, staining it crimson.
"This... this..."
As a psychic, she was all too aware of Tornado's fearsome power. And yet, Tornado had failed to defeat that monster!
Her assessment had been vastly incorrect. That monster was not only close to Elder Centipede's level but likely even stronger, a monster surpassing Elder Centipede!
To surpass Elder Centipede meant...
A lone individual capable of rivaling the entire Hero Association!
"This is no longer a Dragon-level monster..." Psyche's throat constricted as the shockwaves of this realization reverberated through her. Only one thought occupied her mind at that moment.
Disaster Level: God!
Transcending the Dragon level, a threat capable of wiping out all of humanity—such a monster had never appeared before and had never been recorded in history.
"That guy..." Elder Centipede, watching the scene unfold on the screen, rasped out hoarsely.
Though he lacked psychic abilities and wasn't present at the scene, he could still discern Feng Ye's formidable strength. If he were to face Feng Ye, he knew his chances of victory were slim.
"Gyozen... I need to evolve further," Elder Centipede said, his voice subdued and grave, as he turned to the giant eye beside him.
Previously, he had thought he was strong enough, but now it was clear that his current level of evolution wasn't sufficient. He had to evolve further, become even more powerful, if he wanted to be the Monster King!
"Umm... yeah..." Gyozen, under Psyche's control, uttered indistinctly.
In truth, Elder Centipede was already the most successful and perfect monster Psyche had created thus far, and she had no idea how to facilitate his further evolution.
Moreover, if Elder Centipede continued to evolve, she feared she would lose control over him. In the future, when the time came for their fusion and she attempted to take over his body, it might be she who ended up losing her psychic powers, entering a stage of complete chaos.
However, these thoughts were fleeting.
Now was not the time to dwell on such concerns.
Psyche's face had lost its usual composure. She sat tensely, her eyes glued to the projection, and said, "If the heroes can't stop him..."
Humanity might very well perish!
A God-level disaster was no mere figure of speech. It represented a genuine threat capable of ending humanity, and only a crisis of this magnitude warranted the definition of 'God-level.'
Psyche's ambition was to dominate the world, to rule over it alongside the monsters. She didn't want to see the world utterly destroyed, for a lonely throne held no meaning. A true ruler needed the contrast of weaker subjects to emphasize their status.
And now...
If humanity couldn't stop Feng Ye, their annihilation might come to pass this very day!
It wasn't just Psyche who realized this; everyone else had come to the same conclusion. The entire Hero Association was in chaos, the atmosphere thick with urgency.
"We still can't get in touch with Blast?!"
"No! We don't have any means of contacting Blast in the Association..."
"If we can't reach Blast, then we can only rely on King. Where is King now?"
The Hero Association's director pulled at his hair in distress.
A staff member quickly tapped away at his keyboard, his body drenched in cold sweat. "Yes... I'll convey the severity of the situation to KING... Since Tornado has been defeated, he should come. He's not the type to hide from danger..."
The director looked in another direction and asked, "Have we made contact with the other S-Class heroes?"
"Silver Fang said he needs time to get to City B. Zombieman said he's dropped everything and is rushing over at full speed. Drive Knight will take some time, but Metal Knight has already dispatched his robots... Oh, and Metal Knight is here!"
Swish!
As the staff member finished speaking, the screen rapidly zoomed in on a figure with golden short hair. Aside from his face, the rest of his body was covered in machinery. It was the S-Class hero, Metal Knight!
"Metal Knight?"
The director stared at the screen and muttered, "Didn't he just become a hero a few days ago and get promoted to S-Class with perfect scores across the board?"
With such outstanding qualifications, he wouldn't remain at the bottom of the S-Class for long. However, this was no longer a situation that could be handled by a single S-Class hero, let alone one at the bottom tier.
Metal Knight's arrival didn't change much.
"Tell Metal Knight not to act rashly. We'll wait for KING and the others before taking action," the Association director ordered.
Several staff members acknowledged the instruction and quickly made the necessary arrangements.
On the screen, Metal Knight, who had arrived at the scene, also refrained from making any hasty moves. He stood at a distance, observing the larger and smaller Centipede Monsters in the ruins. His mechanized eyes scanned the area, processing various data.
"The S-Class heroes are still alive..."
"That monster didn't kill them. Was it merely a display of power? Even so, with this level of strength, I'd likely struggle to defeat it with my own abilities..."
Metal Knight continuously calculated battle data and probabilities, but every assessment concluded with a zero percent chance of victory. It was simply impossible for him to defeat the monster before him alone.
Just as he started thinking about what else he could do and whether he should try to rescue the S-Class heroes who were hanging helplessly, he suddenly turned his head to the left.
There, a man with a bald head, wearing earthy yellow clothing, and a white cape that fluttered in the wind, strode out from behind a pile of rubble.
Metal Knight was taken aback. "Teacher?!"
"Ah, it's you, Metal Knight. You're here as well," Saitama acknowledged with a wave before turning his attention toward the Centipede Monsters.
As the camera had been focused on Metal Knight, Saitama's figure was also captured on the screen and broadcast to the Hero Association headquarters and various cities.
However, no one paid much attention.
The Hero Association staff merely glanced at him and looked away. Only a staff member sitting in the corner furrowed his brows slightly in confusion. He vaguely remembered Saitama as the C-Class hero who had passed the exam a few days ago.
'Why is a C-Class hero in such a place when they were supposed to evacuate?' he thought to himself. But now wasn't the time to worry about that, so he continued compiling intelligence on the Centipede Monsters' power and relaying it to the other S-Class heroes.
As for the civilians in the cities, they were too terrified of the Centipede Monsters to notice Saitama's presence.
Unnoticed by everyone except Metal Knight, Saitama strode toward the Centipede Monsters after their brief greeting.
