Chapter 484: I Really Didn't Lie
Chapter 484: I Really Didn't Lie
Why is it that no one believes me when I'm telling the truth? Draco Malfoy was seething with frustration. Ever since the dragon-keeping incident at Hogwarts, he had become a laughing stock among the students of Slytherin House and even the entire Hogwarts.
Those self-righteous fools, who knew nothing, were spreading rumors everywhere. How dare they mock him! Malfoy felt extremely aggrieved!
He had indeed seen the giant Hagrid keeping a dragon in his hut, and he had even witnessed the dragon hatching from its egg.
Why wouldn't anyone believe him?
Why did everyone think he was lying?
Why were they so stupid?
All of this was the giant's fault, and Harry Potter's as well. It must have been that damn Scarhead Potter who helped Hagrid hide the baby dragon.
Otherwise, how could the Ministry of Magic not find the dragon?
However, his father was right; most of the wizards in the Ministry of Magic were useless.
If they couldn't uncover the truth about Hagrid keeping a dragon, what else could they be but useless?
After the dragon-keeping incident, Draco Malfoy persistently pestered his mother until she finally agreed to buy him a camera.
He intended to take photos as evidence to show those idiots how stupid they were for maliciously injuring him.
He, Draco Malfoy, would use facts and photos to make all those who looked down on him and mocked him lower their arrogant heads.
However, in the following days, Malfoy was unable to fulfill his wish. He brought the camera to Hagrid's wooden hut, only to find that the giant had tightly shut the windows and drawn the curtains.
Nevertheless, Malfoy was certain that the dragon was still inside the hut.
If the dragon wasn't there, why would Hagrid keep the doors and windows closed and the curtains drawn?
Malfoy cursed Hagrid more than once, wishing that the dragon would breathe fire and burn down the wooden hut.
Even though it was still a baby dragon, most dragons could already breathe fire at a young age, even if the flames were weak.
If Hagrid's wooden hut was set ablaze, he wouldn't be able to hide the fact that he was keeping a dragon anymore.
Everyone would then know the truth, and they would realize their mistake.
However, Malfoy's malicious wishes were not granted. Hagrid's wooden hut did not catch fire, nor was it accidentally burned down.
If it weren't for his own inability to start a fire, Malfoy would have considered burning down that damn wooden hut himself, just to draw everyone's attention and expose the dragon.
Although he had such thoughts, Malfoy didn't have the chance to act on them.
He found it difficult to get close to Hagrid's wooden hut again, as the giant kept his dog outside. Every time Malfoy approached with his camera, the large dog would bark furiously at him as if it was about to rush over and bite him.
Malfoy had experienced being chased by the dog, but he was lucky enough to always outrun it and avoid getting bitten.
After observing for several days, Malfoy was convinced that Scarhead Potter was helping Hagrid conceal the dragon.
He had seen Potter entering the wooden hut more than once, and occasionally overheard whispers about the dragon.
Finally, one day, Malfoy noticed that the poor Weasley boy had received a reply to his letter, so he quietly eavesdropped on their conversation.
They actually planned to send the dragon away! This was something Malfoy could never tolerate. If the dragon was sent away, he would become a permanent joke to everyone.
Malfoy was determined to prevent this from happening.
However, Malfoy didn't expect his opportunity to come so soon.
Ron Weasley was bitten by the dragon and had to be sent to the school hospital.
He claimed that he was bitten by a dog, but even Madam Pomfrey didn't believe that nonsense.
The previous letter was tucked inside the red-haired boy's History of Magic book. If he hadn't had the chance to remove the letter, Malfoy believed that he could pretend to visit and borrow a book, thus easily getting his hands on the letter.
Things turned out to be even smoother than Malfoy had anticipated.
When he entered the school hospital, Weasley's arm was swollen to almost twice its original size. Weasley looked irritable, and all it took was a little taunting to distract him from Malfoy's true intention.
Malfoy kept threatening to tell Madam Pomfrey what had really bitten him, and he also mocked Weasley relentlessly. As expected, Weasley was infuriated by his taunts, allowing Malfoy to easily take away the book, with the letter still tucked inside.
As Malfoy carefully read the letter after taking it out from the book, he had never felt happier, not even when Potter was hit in the head by a Bludger.
It turned out that one of those red-haired paupers was keeping a dragon in Romania, and Scarhead Potter planned to smuggle the dragon away on Saturday night.
He would definitely not let Potter get away with it.
Malfoy believed that exposing this matter would surely attract the attention of the professors and make those fools realize that he hadn't lied; they would then understand their own stupidity.
With Malfoy's deliberate spreading of the news, the poor Weasley boy's letter soon spread throughout Hogwarts, and everyone knew about Hagrid keeping a dragon and their plan to send it away.
This plan was undoubtedly a success, as many people in the school had seen the content of the letter, and they now understood that Malfoy hadn't lied about Hagrid keeping a dragon.
Many still refused to admit their mistakes and stupidity, but Malfoy didn't care. He intended to hand the letter over to Professor Snape and use the facts and truth to make them bow their heads in shame.
However, a strange rumor started to circulate, claiming that the letter was actually written by Hermione Granger, the Mudblood, to deceive and play with him.
Suddenly, the school was abuzz with the news that he had been fooled by Potter and Granger.
But the most ridiculous of all were the fence-sitters, who mostly followed whatever others said without thinking for themselves. They were no different from idiots.
They didn't realize that this was all a plot by the Mudblood; they already knew that the letter had been taken by him, so that was why they were saying those things.
Did they really think they could deceive him? Malfoy had decided that he would catch Scarhead Potter and the dragon himself and show everyone that he hadn't lied! (End of Chapter)
