Chapter 484: I Know a Thing or Two (Second Update)
Chapter 484: I Know a Thing or Two (Second Update)
"Cana, don't drink from a bucket.
Bisca, go dancing outside.
Wakaba, no smoking in the hall.
Gray, Natsu, have you two been getting along lately?"
Erza paused for a moment, then switched into her motherly mode, scolding each of the wizards in the guild one by one. Surprisingly, not a single person dared to talk back.
Even the fiery Natsu and the icy Gray, who usually couldn't stand each other, were now hugging each other, acting like the best of friends.
It was a stark contrast to the first day Jerry arrived, when everyone would break out into a massive fight at the slightest disagreement, each refusing to back down.
Clearly, Erza, the S-Class Mage, held an incredibly high status in the guild.
This was understandable, given that Jerry had heard from many mages that anyone who had challenged Erza in a one-on-one duel had been easily beaten to a pulp by her.
Including the powerful Natsu and Gray.
Moreover, Erza never held back and never showed mercy.
Thus, no mage in the guild dared to contradict the nagging of this motherly figure.
After scolding everyone, Erza approached Natsu and Gray, telling them that she had encountered some trouble on the way and, with the master absent, needed their help to resolve it.
Upon hearing Erza's words, all the mages in the guild were shocked.
If even the S-Class Mage Erza found it difficult and needed Natsu and Gray's help, it must be a serious matter.
Mira's eyes sparkled, and she immediately named the trio "Fairy Tail's Strongest Team."
Jerry, for his part, remained an observer, quietly watching and listening without actively joining in or trying to draw attention to himself.
The Fairy Tail Guild always had people coming in to post quests, and the S-Class quests on the second floor never ran out.
He had once sneaked a peek at the second floor and saw plenty of quests like exterminating dark mages, slaying powerful demons that suddenly appeared, and saving towns.
So, he wasn't particularly curious about the difficult quest that Erza and the others were about to undertake.
He preferred to spend his time studying the basics of Magic.
Over the past week, with frequent consultations with Makarov, he had gained a more comprehensive understanding of the Magic in this world.
To be honest, the more he learned, the more he realized that the Magic in this world had many unique aspects and very high limits.
Even Magic involving time, spatial manipulation, and the soul existed in abundance, and there were many powerful spells capable of easily destroying a city.
After agreeing to meet at the train station early the next morning, Erza, Natsu, and Gray went home to prepare.
The guild returned to its normal state once Erza left.
However, not long after, Lucy also went home to pack her belongings, as Mira was worried that Natsu and Gray would fight while Erza was away, so she asked Lucy to keep an eye on them.
"Miss Mira, I'm heading home!"
With the master absent, Jerry didn't stay long. He said goodbye to Mira and planned to go back to experiment with the Absorption Magic he had recently learned.
"Fairy Tail's Strongest Team, I must tell the master this good news!"
After Jerry left, Mira used Magic to record her image on a Magic envelope and sent it to Makarov, who was attending a meeting in Crovell Town. She felt that the master would be very pleased to hear the news.
The next morning, in the Ring World.
Jerry whispered to the soul of a Chimera Beast:
"Absorption!"
A complex Magic array appeared out of nowhere, pulling the Chimera Beast's soul into it.
"Beastification!"
Another Magic array flashed, and Jerry's body instantly transformed into the form of a Chimera Beast.
"Interesting!"
He felt the power and abilities of the Chimera Beast, performed a few Magic experiments, and then transformed back to his human form.
The Absorption Magic he was learning now is a relatively common type called Full Absorption. It allows the user to absorb the souls of animals, monsters, and demons, and undergo complete or adaptive transformation, gaining all of their abilities.
Complete transformation, like what Jerry just did, directly turns the user into the absorbed creature. Adaptive transformation, on the other hand, keeps the human form but incorporates some features of the absorbed creature.
The abilities are the same; it just depends on personal preference.
Transforming into a Chimera Beast didn't significantly enhance Jerry's current strength, as his own physical strength was already comparable to that of a Chimera Beast. What he valued was the potential to absorb the abilities of truly powerful creatures in the future.
"Hmm, someone is looking for me!"
Just as Jerry was about to continue his Magic research, he suddenly sensed something and instantly teleported out of the Ring World, arriving at the front door of the small mansion.
"Miss Mira?"
Opening the door, he saw Mira standing there, and his face showed a look of surprise.
Mira usually stayed at the guild and wouldn't leave unless there was something important.
"Jerry, the Master has a message for you and asked me to deliver it!"
Upon seeing Jerry open the door, Mira immediately explained her purpose.
Jerry nodded and said, "Come in first, we can talk about it inside."
He knew that this was likely the start of his first assignment as a Fairy Tail employee. Given his demonstrated repair abilities, the Master must have called him for a job where a mage had caused some trouble and needed his help.
"Jerry, did you use Spatial Magic in your room?"
As Mira entered the room and saw the vast Spatial area, complete with a garden and lawn, she was taken aback. It was clear that the room had been modified using Spatial Magic.
"I know a bit, what does the Master need?"
Jerry didn't elaborate much, just smiled and poured a cup of tea for Mira from the teapot on the lawn table.
"Knowing a bit? I doubt it!"
Mira muttered to herself and began explaining the Master's instructions. Spatial Magic, like Temporal Magic, is a type of Lost Magic that hasn't been seen in use for many years. The fact that Jerry not only knew Temporal Magic but also Spatial Magic was truly unbelievable.
However, the Fairy Tail Guild had a rule: unless a mage volunteered, no one would pry into their past. So, although Mira was curious, she didn't press for more details when Jerry didn't offer any.
"The Master wants me to find Erza and the others. They just left this morning, did something happen?"
Jerry asked, somewhat surprised, after hearing Mira's explanation.
