Chapter 483: To the Sea, the Stage of Battle!
Chapter 483: To the Sea, the Stage of Battle!
As the seawater barrier dissipated, the divided area quickly filled with water, rapidly submerging half of Charlotte Linlin's body.
After a brief stalemate, she suddenly sighed, turning her head to look at the black cloud that Norton Sag rode on, and the gloomy sky above it. In her dazed state, a bright star seemed to enter her field of vision.
"At this point, what are you still hiding? Am I not worthy of your full strength?" Charlotte Linlin exclaimed in frustration.
Just then, Sag broke through her attack, and in that instant, he accelerated and struck her all over in the blink of an eye. It was a feat that couldn't have been achieved in his previous state.
Sag rose above the sea surface, ensuring that the water wouldn't flood him, and then said, "Do you believe that I broke through your defenses on the spot?"
"Hmm, hmm, hmm, of course, I believe it. It seems your growth period is still on the rise."
She laughed for a moment and then asked, "Is that the Death Omens Star?"
Pfft!
As soon as the words left her mouth, her swollen body quickly returned to its original state, as if her soul had burned out. The state that could be called a Steel Balloon deflated like a punctured ball, and blood gushed out like a fountain from the surface.
Her bloated body rapidly shrank.
Sag glanced at her and then looked up at the sky.
"Yes, your Death Omens Star is shining."
Only the person who delivers the fatal blow and the one who receives it can see the Death Omens Star.
"Hmm, hmm, hmm, with these injuries and my life force burning out, I am indeed close to death."
Charlotte Linlin chuckled lightly. At this point, she felt no resentment.
Sag wouldn't even ask her such a question.
Losing is losing!
Dying is dying!
There's nothing to deny!
"The times are changing," she sighed.
Roger, who always wore a smile, came to her mind. Back then, when he was on the same ship as Kaido and Whitebeard, Roger often went against them.
The Locks Pirates weren't a team-oriented group; they didn't even follow orders. They were all suspicious of each other, fighting individually. In the end, they were defeated in the battle at Divine Valley by the combined efforts of Garp, Roger, and the Dragon People. The pirate crew disbanded, and they all went their separate ways.
Later, Roger became the Pirate King, but he also uttered those famous last words before his death, ushering in the Great Pirate Era.
"Why did he say those words? Because of that, every year, little brats like you tirelessly challenge us. The tide of the times will not stagnate, and I understand that. So, I also know that sooner or later, a brat like you will defeat us."
"I never thought it would be you, one of the Four Emperors, who would become a Four Emperor. Are you still not satisfied?" Charlotte Linlin asked.
"Are you satisfied?" Sag countered.
Charlotte Linlin was taken aback and then laughed, "No, I will never be satisfied. If not for Lola, I would have allied with the Gigant People. If I had obtained the Vinsmoke Clan's technology this time, I would have eliminated you and ruled the sea."
Sag also laughed, "Three Emperors, Four Emperors, Five Emperors... These titles are given by people who have no choice but to acknowledge their power. But now that I have a way, these titles should no longer exist."
"Hmm, hmm, hmm, that's right. It's a pity. I wanted to know about Roger's secret treasure. What is Rafteluri? Roger is no longer around to tell me, and you're from Ohara, do you know?"
"How would I know so much? Raftel is either some meaningless wisdom and courage, a huge joke of the world, or..."
Sag spoke in a deep voice, "It's the key to the whole world."
"Death... what defines it?" Charlotte Linlin asked, baring her teeth. "Is it the disappearance of life? Or fading from people's memories? Or perhaps becoming a part of history, only to vanish when one's will is no longer inherited and forgotten by the world?"
"Roger has been dead for over twenty years, but I still feel he's alive. He lives on in my memory, and there are some interesting pirates on the sea who have inherited his will too!"
"If this is a form of 'living,' then I am immortal!"
Charlotte Linlin laughed and suddenly pointed at Norton Sag in the sky, exclaiming, "Norton Sag, with your physique, you could do it! I've heard that when you hold banquets, your subordinates sit together regardless of race, right?"
"Only those who catch my eye are worthy of sitting with me. The rest still have a long way to go."
"I don't mind them expressing themselves and being generous with rewards," replied Sag.
"And after conquering this place?"
"Of course, I'll be just as generous with rewards for those willing to serve me."
"You've already got the Gigant People," Linlin chuckled. "There are two more races, Lunaria and Bakania. With your greed, you wouldn't refuse if you could have them!"
Sag simply raised his head, not bothering to respond to Linlin.
As one of the Four Emperors, there was nothing he wouldn't dare to do.
"Take it! Take it all! No matter what, since my Homizi is in your hands," she said, pointing at Sag's palm and squeezing it tightly. "My dream, whether you greedily devour it or passively inherit it, I give it all to you!"
Soul-infused white flames drifted from her hand and then extinguished on their own. In that instant, Sag sensed something and looked down at the black cloud beneath his feet.
The tugging sensation was gone.
After all, these were creations of Linlin's abilities, and even though Sag had managed to dissipate their consciousness, the connection between the creator and the creation was not easily broken.
Although he couldn't feel anything from these creations now, if Linlin truly wanted to, she could still accomplish something with them.
But things were different now. After her move, Sag could feel that his connection with the three Homizi had deepened. Not only with the cloud, but the sword Homizi and the fire Homizi had also established a soul connection with him.
What did this mean? A change of ownership?
"The changing times, the passing down of will through generations, and the dreams of people..." Linlin murmured softly, then suddenly widened her eyes and shouted, "I place these upon you!"
"Roger, Newgate, Shiki, Rocks, and even Kaido!"
The old generation would eventually be replaced. My dream will remain unfulfilled.
There was no bitterness, only acceptance of defeat. But dreams would still be realized by others.
The seawater poured down, submerging Linlin up to her neck, mixed with traces of blood. She let out one final roar:
"Norton Sag, go and do what you desire, and then..."
"Fight for the sea!!!"
The raging seawater engulfed Linlin's head, and the candle-in-the-wind-like figure vanished, swallowed by the sea. The divided sea returned to a flat surface and quickly transformed into a massive whirlpool, devouring everything around it.
Sag stared at the whirlpool for a moment, then looked up at the sky and clicked his tongue. "Don't make it seem like I inherited your will or that I won by taking everything!"
