Chapter 483: The Fairy Queen Appears (1/1)
Chapter 483: The Fairy Queen Appears (1/1)
July 11, X784,
A week after Jerry joined the Fairy Tail Guild.
Jerry, as usual, set out to head to the Fairy Tail Guild, planning to seek Magic knowledge from the guild master, Makarov.
As he stepped out, he ran into Lucy, who was also on her way to the guild.
After Lucy and Natsu completed a mission, Lucy learned from Mirajane that Jerry’s new house was not far from where she rented, so they often walked to the guild together in the mornings.
"I have to take a mission today, or I won’t be able to pay the rent next month!"
On the way, Lucy declared with determination.
It turned out that the book-stealing mission she and Natsu completed was indeed flawless, but they received no payment. The couple who posted the mission had no money, and both Natsu and Lucy, being kind-hearted, didn’t pursue it, treating it as a good deed.
Originally, Jerry was supposed to be dispatched to repair the Duke's Mansion, which Natsu’s Magic had caused to collapse. However, Natsu and Lucy found a lot of evidence of the Duke’s crimes, leading to his arrest. As a result, Jerry was no longer needed for the repair work.
"Good luck!"
Jerry offered a symbolic encouragement.
Lucy rented an entire house, so her monthly rent was a staggering 70,000 J. With her living expenses and the costs of buying Magic items, she needed to earn more to keep up with the rent.
Thus, the two of them passed through the Cathedral of Cardia and entered the guild together.
"Miss Mirajane, where is the guild master?"
After entering the guild hall, Jerry greeted everyone and began his usual search for Makarov.
However, after looking around, he was surprised to find that Makarov was not in the guild.
This was unexpected, as the guild master usually stayed to manage the guild and rarely left.
"Jerry, didn’t the guild master tell you? He went to Crovell Town for the Regular Guild Master Meeting!"
"Regular Guild Master Meeting?"
Jerry’s face showed confusion.
Mirajane smiled and explained:
"It’s where guild masters from different regions gather periodically to hold a reporting meeting. It’s different from the Council, though!"
As she spoke, she borrowed a Light Pen from the large, fat mage, Laxus Dreyar, and began writing in mid-air.
A Light Pen is a Magic tool that allows one to write and draw in the air using Magic power. Laxus Dreyar, as Jerry knew, was a mage who specialized in Drawing Magic, which involved creating weapons and animals to attack enemies. This was similar to the Manifestation Spell he had learned at the Morgana School, a spell that could turn drawings into real objects.
"The most powerful figures in the Magic world are the ten Council members, who have close ties with the king, ministers, and other officials. Their role is to maintain order in the Magic world.
The Council also exists to judge and punish guilty mages. Below the Council is the Guild Alliance, composed of guild masters.
They are responsible for conveying the Council’s decisions, coordinating members across regions, and managing all mages. They actually have a pretty tough job!"
"I didn’t know any of this. So, the guilds are connected to each other."
At this point, Lucy poked her head over from the side.
She had been selecting a suitable mission for herself and, upon hearing Mirajane’s explanation, immediately came over.
Mirajane smiled and continued:
"Cooperation between guilds is very important. In the Magic world, apart from our legitimate guilds, there are also some dark guilds lurking in the shadows.
They are evil and often commit crimes, showing no mercy. They are targets for severe crackdowns by the government and all guilds."
"Where there is light, there must be darkness. Where there is justice, there must be evil. This is quite normal."
Jerry wasn't surprised by Mirajane's words. Whether in the Magic world or the ordinary world, there can never be only good people. In any world, there will always be dark mages who use Magic to commit crimes and gain benefits, just as there are mages who symbolize justice.
"That's a profound statement. I should write it down!"
Hearing this, Lucy quickly took out a pen and jotted down what Jerry had just said. Besides being a Celestial Mage, Lucy was also a literary girl who secretly wrote a novel. She would always record such insightful phrases.
"Bad news, Erza is back!"
As they were chatting, a stylishly dressed blonde male mage burst into the guild hall, his face filled with fear. Jerry recognized him as Rogue, who was skilled in Ring Magic and Light Magic. He was handsome, flamboyant, and had a habit of frequently changing his female companions. He also had a good relationship with the naked Gray.
However, through their interactions, Jerry discovered a secret about Rogue. His body was very peculiar, similar to the Celestial Spirits he had encountered before. Therefore, Jerry suspected that Rogue's true identity might not be human but a powerful Celestial Spirit with immense Magic power.
"Erza!!!"
At the sound of Rogue's words, the previously lively crowd in the hall froze, beads of cold sweat appearing on their foreheads.
"S-Class Mage Erza Scarlet."
Jerry's curiosity was piqued. Over the past few days, he had heard this name mentioned many times by the mages in the guild.
"What's going on?"
Lucy, who had just returned from a mission with Natsu, was still unaware of Erza's reputation. Seeing the reactions of the others, she was confused.
Mirajane chuckled and explained:
"Erza is currently the strongest female mage in our guild!"
As if on cue, a beautiful woman with scarlet hair, wearing a suit of armor and a blue mini skirt with thigh-high boots, appeared at the guild's entrance. She was holding a massive object that resembled a monster's horn.
"Her Magic power is about the same as Mirajane's."
The moment Jerry saw Erza, he released his mental perception and gauged the total Magic power within her.
"It seems Mirajane is also a hidden S-Class expert!"
"Listen up, I heard a lot of rumors about our Fairy Tail on my way back. They say our mages always cause trouble.
While I was away, did you all do anything that made the Guild Master worry? Let me tell you, even if the Guild Master forgives you, I won't let you off easily!"
Erza dropped the massive horn she was holding, causing the entire guild to tremble.
Hearing Erza's stern words, all the mages in the hall swallowed hard. They knew the days ahead would be tough.
With Erza back, everything would return to normal from today on. I will resume posting three chapters a day.
