Chapter 480: All This King Desires Is Rule!
Clang!
Oger’s Armored Haki-infused spear blade clashed against Kuro’s Black Blade.
Kuro, gripping Autumn Water, blocked the strike and frowned. “Moonstep? Where did you learn that?”
It was indeed the “Moonstep” from the Six Styles.
Oger didn’t answer. After his attack was parried, he leapt backward, retracting his spear before swinging it in a wide arc and slashing downward at Kuro.
Clang!!
Kuro raised Autumn Water to block, the collision sending a shockwave rippling through the air.
“Tch, your force isn’t bad. You’re even stronger than that Ba Bo from the minefield,” Kuro remarked, impressed.
“Ba Bo…”
Oger narrowed his eyes. “Did you kill him? What business does someone like you have in this country? Are you here for amusement too?”
Without waiting for a reply, he retracted his spear and launched another attack from a different angle.
“Not exactly,” Kuro said, effortlessly deflecting the spear with a flick of his blade. “I’m just passing through.”
“Just passing through? I don’t believe a pirate’s excuses!”
Oger bounded backward, springing off the air itself. Crouching low, he gripped his long spear with both hands, charging forward like a battering ram.
Hiss!
A wisp of white energy erupted from his nose.
“Ba Bo’s death demands your life in return!”
Boom!
With his next leap, Oger’s foot struck the air, generating a shockwave that thundered forward. The spear’s Cold Gleam shattered the falling rain, its black silhouette streaking toward Kuro like a lightning bolt.
“I said—”
Kuro casually sidestepped the thrust. “If you keep attacking, I’ll have to retaliate.”
“Dodged? Impressive.”
Oger materialized behind Kuro, then sprang into the air, twisting to face him head-on, his gaze heavy with focus.
After two more leaps, he charged again.
Kuro evaded twice more, but the golden-haired man showed no sign of relenting. Furrowing his brow, Kuro dodged another spear strike, then twisted his wrist mid-swing, using the flat of Autumn Water to slap Oger’s body.
Bang!
Oger plummeted like a cannonball, kicking up a cloud of smoke and dust.
Kneeling on one knee, Oger leaned on his spear, staring up at Kuro in shock.
“I warned you—if you keep attacking, I’ll fight back.”
Kuro spun his blade in a flourish, gazing down at his opponent.
Oger’s eyes burned with even fiercer killing intent.
No survivors.
Rising, he gripped his Black Gun and raised it toward the sky, assuming a throwing stance.
Dick, a pirate who’d just slashed down an enemy, instinctively glanced toward the commotion, pupils constricting. “That’s…”
Under the storm, Oger’s spear—especially its blade—glowed with intensified Armament Haki. A black lightning crackled across its edge.
Kuro’s eyelid twitched. “That Haki level… Top-tier Haki?!”
This man could actually reach this level?!
“Pierce Through!”
Oger roared, his arm a blur as he hurled the spear. In an instant, the Black Gun became a streak of black lightning, tearing through the rain toward Kuro.
“With the Long Spear!!”
His thunderous cry followed the attack.
The spear, like a bolt of black lightning, shot toward Kuro’s face at blinding speed.
“Watch out!!”
Dick’s scream finally pierced the air.
Too fast.
But Kuro’s eyes remained calm. He tilted his head slightly, letting the lightning graze his cheek before vanishing.
“You really are—”
Before he could finish, Kuro froze. Oger had vanished.
A sudden gust of wind erupted behind him.
Oger had reappeared, seizing the retreating spear mid-flight. Swinging it in a wide arc, he slashed at Kuro with lethal intent.
The blade cleaved through Kuro’s skull, piercing straight through.
Kuro’s body rippled like water under the storm.
Afterimage.
Bang!
A heavy blow struck Oger’s back, sending him crashing down, fracturing the ground.
Kuro appeared behind him, retracting his foot. “So eager to—”
“Seek death?”
The last words came from behind Oger.
Before Oger could rise, Kuro’s figure loomed over him. Autumn Water slashed downward.
Hiss!
Rolling several times, Oger ignored the mud staining his clothes and face, kneeling as he clutched his bleeding shoulder.
“Dodged?” Kuro’s gaze sharpened. “Next time, you won’t.”
“You… you…” Oger roared, “Why are you here?! Why are you in this country?!”
His voice shook with fury, but to others, it sounded like the mindless rage of a disheveled madman.
“Oger’s getting crushed!” Sag shouted. “Everyone, that guy’s stronger! Push harder—we’ll win!”
The crowd surged with renewed vigor.
Oger trembled with rage, gripping his Black Gun as his eyes flared with flame. “Even if I die, I’ll—Wait?”
He froze. His fury dissipated. Staring at Kuro, he loosened his grip on the spear, exhaling in sudden relief. A faint, cryptic smile flickered before his expression darkened.
“Huh?”
Kuro, caught off guard, raised an eyebrow. “What’s with that face? Like you’re about to crap yourself?”
“It’s you.”
Oger relaxed slightly, a subtle smirk playing on his lips. “Lucius Kro! What does the Navy want in this country? To overthrow me? The Krayen Kingdom isn’t a World Government member!”
Blue veins bulged on his face as he bellowed:
“You’ll never succeed! Even if I die, I’ll protect my throne! I am this nation’s King—everyone else is just a commoner!!”
Kuro blinked, instinctively looking upward.
His straw hat had been knocked askew during the lightning-fast clash, revealing his full face.
You saw it.
Clang!
Kuro raised his blade to block Oger’s renewed strike. “Recognized me? Guess you’ve been keeping tabs on the world. But I don’t get it—why fight? With your strength, you could protect this country easily.”
“Nonsense! I don’t understand a word!”
Oger swung his spear, each strike splitting the rain. “Protect? No! All this King desires is rule! Power! Amusement!”
Whoosh!
The air itself split as the spear’s force shattered the storm, slamming sideways into Kuro. “Lucius Kro! They say you defeated Lucius—let’s see if you’re truly strong!”
Kuro dodged backward, evading the arc of destruction. Oger stood poised, exhaling calmly.
Facing his people, Oger’s rage had vanished, replaced by a warrior’s resolve.
The desire to test his strength.
And the resolve to die.
