Chapter 48: Total Annihilation
Chapter 48: Total Annihilation
"No... It can't be..."
"This can't be true, how could Captain Higaki...?"
Witnessing this scene, the three Iwagakure ninjas, already fearful, looked on with eyes of disbelief. They couldn't accept that a trusted and powerful jonin from their village had just been killed by a young boy.
"Looks like I was overly worried," Might Dai said as he glanced in Feng Ye's direction. Seeing the jonin defeated by Feng Ye's sword, he breathed a sigh of relief and marveled at Feng Ye's talent and strength.
Feng Ye was in the same class as his son, Might Guy, and he couldn't be more than ten years old this year. Yet, he already possessed the strength to defeat a jonin! Was this what a prodigy looked like?!
"Guy... It looks like you need to work even harder to catch up with him and Kakashi..." Might Dai murmured to himself before turning his attention to the remaining three Iwagakure ninjas.
Noticing Might Dai looking at them, the three ninjas stiffened, cold sweat forming on their brows as it dripped down incessantly. The informants had messed up!
How could they report that there were only two ordinary Konoha ninjas escorting the bridge builder?! These two were monsters!
"Run!"
Almost simultaneously, the three ninjas fled along the riverbank. They had lost all will to continue the fight.
But with Might Dai, who had opened six of the Eight Inner Gates, escape was not an option.
Before they could get far, their escape came to an abrupt halt as Might Dai, like a residual shadow, swept past them from behind and landed in front of them.
Then, they heard something about 'embracing the burning youth'—words that made no sense to them. The next moment, they felt a powerful blow, and their bodies flew backward, plunging into darkness as they lost consciousness.
"Huff... Huff..."
After finishing off the last of the Iwagakure ninjas, Might Dai deactivated the sixth gate of the Eight Inner Gates, and his body slumped to the ground by the riverbank as he panted heavily.
Feng Ye searched the body of the Iwa-nin, Higaki, but found nothing of value. He approached Might Dai and asked, "Senior, are you alright?"
"Huff... Huff... I'm fine..."
"But... for the next while... I might not be of much use..."
Might Dai continued to look exhausted and out of breath.
Even for him, who could now open up to the eighth gate, the side effects of opening the sixth gate were still significant. He would be plagued by fatigue and muscle soreness for a long time.
"It's okay, senior. You take a rest, and I'll take care of things from here," Feng Ye nodded slightly.
As long as there was no need for healing, things should be fine. Might Dai had already progressed to opening the eighth gate, and the side effects of merely opening the sixth gate didn't seem to have injured him severely.
Feng Ye then turned his gaze to the opposite riverbank, where Daisuke Urabe and the others stood.
Urabe and his companions were still dazed, struggling to comprehend what they had just witnessed. On one hand, they had faced a jonin from the Five Great Shinobi Villages, someone far more powerful than the jonin from their own Grass Village. On the other hand, Feng Ye and Might Dai, who they had assumed to be mediocre, had displayed capabilities that could only be described as stunning.
"This is the power of ninjas from the Great Shinobi Villages..."
Urabe whispered, still in awe.
As Feng Ye's gaze fell upon them, Urabe snapped out of his stupor. Thoughts raced through his mind, and he quickly turned to face his companions behind him.
Kuniki looked at Daisuke Urabe, cold sweat dripping from his forehead as fear lingered in his eyes.
When sending information to the Land of Grass, he never expected that a quirky team of Konoha ninjas, comprised of a single oddball and a young boy, would possess such terrifying strength!
Even an elite squad of Iwa ninjas had been crushed!
The next step was surely to strictly investigate the traitor, and he was already extremely panicked, knowing that he could not hide his involvement. His only hope now lay in coercing the hostage to escape.
"So it was you! Why?!”
Daisuke Urabe glared at Kuniki, his eyes filled with anger.
Kuniki clenched his teeth and replied, "The Daimyo has long since given up on this branch of the family. How could you possibly gain the recognition of those families? Your idea was just too naive!"
"You!!!"
Daisuke Urabe stared at him intently.
But just then, a hand silently rested on Kuniki's wrist, easily prying his knife-wielding hand away and tossing it several meters away, where it clattered to the ground.
After performing this action, Feng Ye turned to Daisuke Urabe and calmly said:
"I won't interfere in your family matters."
"Thank you so much!"
Daisuke Urabe knelt on the ground and immediately kowtowed to Feng Ye, expressing his gratitude. He then picked up the knife that Feng Ye had taken from Kuniki and walked towards him with a cold expression.
Feng Ye had little interest in the internal struggle and dispute over the position of lord of a small town in the Land of Grass, and he didn't bother to listen to the rest of their conversation, instead, he recalled the battle that had just taken place.
"That guy should be a regular Jonin-level ninja from the Rock Village... My strength is about as I assessed it to be. After cultivating the Chidori, it wasn't difficult to kill a Jonin."
With just the first gate of the Eight Inner Gates opened and a single use of Chidori, he had easily cleaved through the A-rank Katon ninjutsu, along with its user.
If he went all out, even against an elite Jonin, he should be able to easily gain the upper hand and even take them out in a very short time.
This battle had also validated one of his viewpoints.
That is, the tactic of overwhelming numbers was largely ineffective against him.
Being able to kill a Jonin in an instant meant that even if multiple Jonin worked together, as long as they couldn't keep up with his speed, they would all be broken through and slain one by one!
And if there were even more opponents, he could still rely on his speed to retreat calmly.
"Unless it's an elite Jonin with a special Doujutsu like the Three Tomoe Sharingan, who can see through my movements, even if they possess some forbidden or secret techniques, as long as they can't keep up with my speed, they won't be able to do anything."
After making this judgment, Feng Ye breathed a slight sigh of relief.
In other words,
With his current strength and means, as long as he didn't encounter Kage-level opponents or get surrounded by a large number of ninjas, even if he came across a team of Jonin, he could rely on his speed to advance and retreat at will.
Such strength in the ninja world meant that he could reasonably ensure his own safety. After all, Kage-level opponents weren't easy to come by; each village had only a handful of ninjas at that level, and they were the highest ruling class of the village.
At that moment,
An image of Namikaze Minato flashed through Feng Ye's mind.
Recalling the other man's achievement in the upcoming Great Ninja War, where he had instantly defeated fifty Jonin, shocking the major ninja villages, Feng Ye smiled.
"Instantly defeating fifty Jonin, huh..."
Perhaps he could give it a try too.
