Chapter 48: One Spirit, Two Lives
Chapter 48: One Spirit, Two Lives
"My martial soul has undergone a transformation; it's now called the Seven-String Ring Blade, and it's a strong offensive soul with auxiliary capabilities."
Tang Yuehua felt a bit of joy as she introduced her martial soul to everyone. Born in the Haotian Sect, she had always felt inferior because her martial soul was not purely offensive-type.
Even though she was no longer a disciple of the Haotian Sect, having an offensive-type martial soul was still quite remarkable.
"Offensive and auxiliary? What does that mean?"
Qian Renxue asked, intrigued.
Tang Yuehua was momentarily stumped on how to explain, so she directly summoned her martial soul.
A circular ring appeared in Tang Yuehua's hand, its body a deep blue with streaks of fiery red veins running through it. A thin, sharp blade surrounded the perimeter of the ring, and several transparent silken threads hung from its center.
Tang Yuehua cupped the ring in her hands, and a domain slowly unfolded around her.
The domain washed over the group, causing everyone to relax involuntarily, their minds calming.
"This is the auxiliary form of my martial soul and its domain.
I can pluck the strings to provide beneficial or detrimental effects to those within the domain."
As she spoke, Tang Yuehua plucked the strings, playing a ethereal and melodious tune.
As the music echoed, those enveloped by the domain felt their bodies become lighter.
Then, Tang Yuehua played a somber and oppressive melody.
The listeners felt their breathing become labored, their soul power circulating at a slower pace, and even their movements became sluggish.
Tang Yuehua ceased her playing and turned to the two Title Douluos of the Wuhun Temple.
She recognized both of them as they had been responsible for protecting Xue'er, and had even protected her for a time, unbeknownst to her.
She wanted to hear their opinions.
Snake Spear and Thorn Boar were highly satisfied with the woman their young master had acknowledged as his godmother.
Compared to a certain brat, Tang Yuehua had allowed their young master to live a truly carefree and happy life for three years, giving him unconditional love.
Especially during the time when "Xueya" was assassinated on the street, their young master had been deeply distressed, and so had Tang Yuehua.
Now that they could interact sincerely, and with Tang Yuehua willing to give up her identity as a disciple of the Haotian Sect to join the Wuhun Temple, they were even more pleased with her.
Facing Tang Yuehua's inquiring gaze, both the Snake Spear Douluo and the Thorn Boar Douluo unanimously gave the highest evaluation.
"Miss Yuehua's martial soul has an extremely strong auxiliary ability. By playing different styles of music, she can apply various statuses, even without the domain skill.
This means that as long as Miss Yuehua continues to play, she can indefinitely apply all sorts of effects.
"The auxiliary effect is even more powerful than the Seven Treasures Lapis Tower, renowned as the number one auxiliary martial soul in the world!"
Hearing the evaluation of the two Douluos, Tang Yuehua felt that it was a bit unreliable. How could her martial soul be more powerful than the number one auxiliary soul in the world?
However, she assumed that it was a white lie and didn't expose them.
"My martial soul has another form, the offensive form."
Tang Yuehua's fingers hooked the strings, and the strings slowly sank into her fingertips. As the strings disappeared, the ring blade remained suspended at her fingertips instead of falling.
The strings vanished, and the ring blade steadied at Tang Yuehua's fingertips.
Then, the fiery red veins around the bluish-green ring blade slowly lit up, and a wisp of orange-red flame rose from the blade. The ring began to accelerate as it spun at Tang Yuehua's fingertip.
In the blink of an eye, the bluish-green ring blade at Tang Yuehua's fingertip transformed into an orange-red color.
At that moment, another domain unfolded.
Unlike the previous domain's gentleness, this domain immediately brought a sense of oppression to those enveloped by it.
"In the offensive form, my martial soul takes on this appearance. Within my domain, I can control the trajectory of the ring blade more freely."
As she spoke, Tang Yuehua controlled the rapidly spinning ring blade, letting it dash and crash within her domain.
Watching the spinning flywheel, Thorn Boar Douluo couldn't help but reach out and grab it.
The moment he grasped the ring blade, a frown appeared on his face.
He carefully examined Tang Yuehua's flywheel and then showed it to Snake Spear Douluo.
During this exchange, he subtly displayed his palm to his companion, revealing a shallow scratch.
Snake Spear Douluo's eyebrows jumped when he saw the scratch.
Thorn Boar Douluo, who was about to explain the true power of her martial soul, was taken aback by Tang Yuehua's tentative inquiry! Had he not known her character, he would have thought she was showing off!
Snake Spear Douluo handed the flying ring to Tang Yuehua, gesturing for her to cut down a large tree behind the manor with it.
Twenty meters away, the Seven-String Ring Blade effortlessly sliced through a tree as thick as a bowl.
Witnessing the destructive power of her martial soul, Tang Yuehua covered her mouth in astonishment.
"Is, is this...really my martial soul?" she stammered.
Hurrying over to the felled tree, Tang Yuehua curiously traced her fingers along the smooth cut and the charred marks on its surface, her eyes wide with wonder.
Qian Renxue, too, stared at Tang Yuehua's martial soul in amazement.
It was unbelievable that just a few days ago, this martial soul could only release a soothing noble domain.
Now, it had not only evolved to possess auxiliary capabilities rivaling the Seven Treasures Lapis Tower but also exhibited astonishing destructive power!
"Cough, cough!" Qian Renxue quickly cleared her throat, interrupting their thoughts.
Snake Spear and Thorn Boar immediately knelt before her. "Young Master, please give us your orders."
Qian Renxue's face was filled with embarrassment as she glanced at Tang Yuehua, whose demeanor had inadvertently intimidated her. Her voice, however, remained icy cold.
"Aside from my grandfather, I don't want anyone else to know about what happened here today," Qian Renxue stated, her throat rolling slightly as she added, "And please don't let my mother know about this either."
Snake Spear Douluo and Thorn Boar Douluo were about to accept the order when they heard their young master's additional request, causing them to pause momentarily.
They exchanged a quick glance before replying in unison, "Yes."
Tang Yuehua looked at Qian Renxue, and her heart twinged when she heard her refer to her mother. She knew that the term "mother" was not directed at her but at Qian Renxue's biological mother, and she couldn't help but feel a pang of sorrow for her.
When addressing her godmother, she used the intimate term "mom" with great affection, but when referring to her biological mother, she used the more distant "mother."
What sorrows had she endured during her childhood?
Tang Yuehua recalled her martial soul and approached Qian Renxue, crouching down to gently touch her forehead.
Seeing the tears welling up in those eyes, Tang Yuehua pulled her into an embrace.
"Don't cry, my child. Thank you for giving me this powerful martial soul. I will protect myself with it.
From now on, I will cultivate diligently. I will not only protect myself but also keep Little Snow safe," Tang Yuehua reassured her.
How could Tang Yuehua not understand why Qian Renxue had been so adamant about evolving her martial soul? She was afraid of being "assassinated" like her.
She had already experienced the pain of losing someone so close once, and even as an adult, she couldn't bear that agony. How could she let a twelve-year-old child go through the same?
To spend more time with Qian Renxue, to ease her worries, and to prevent her from grieving over her departure in the future, Tang Yuehua could only grit her teeth and persevere.
In just over half a month, she had transformed from a pampered noble lady who only knew how to play the zither to a resilient soul master capable of enduring the excruciating pain of the soul-corroding sword intent.
Those half months had been torturous for everyone involved. Qian Renxue had anxiously awaited her godmother's martial soul evolution day and night.
Tang Yuehua had endured the scorching soul power ravaging her body repeatedly.
Even Wang Si, an outsider, had been drawn into their struggles.
Did Tang Yuehua feel aggrieved?
On the first day, she may have felt wronged, thinking that Qian Renxue was too eager for quick success, that Wang Si was too rigid and stubborn, and that she herself was too weak and incompetent.
But when she woke up in Qian Renxue's embrace and saw the reluctance, pain, and conflict in her eyes, she realized that she couldn't let her down.
Being a parent meant not only providing love and care but also ensuring that one's children are not disappointed.
In the moment Tang Yuehua hugged Qian Renxue, she knew that she had succeeded...
