Chapter 48: A New Training Mission
Chapter 48: A New Training Mission
【Student Uchiha Obito's Training Mission】
【Mission: Achieve first place in the practical exam at the Ninja Academy】
【Reward: Dependent on mission completion and strength improvement during the mission】
【Student Might Guy's Training Mission】
【Mission: Achieve first place in the practical exam at the Ninja Academy】
【Reward: Dependent on mission completion and strength improvement during the mission】
As these sudden pop-up messages appeared, Mu Yue fell into deep thought.
Although she didn't know what had transpired, the outcome seemed quite favorable.
With dual training missions and the potential rewards from exam performance, her chakra would surely surpass the five-digit mark by the end of this semester.
It was unfortunate that there could only be one top student in the practical exam, which meant that one of the missions would yield a slightly lesser reward.
"What if something unexpected happens to one of them, and they have to postpone the exam until next semester? Would that be a better option?" Mu Yue contemplated this dilemma seriously.
She hesitated, knowing that she had the capability to make it happen.
However, she couldn't guarantee that this was the optimal solution. Given that this was the first time she had encountered two simultaneous training missions, she assumed that one disciple could only undertake one mission at a time.
If she were to delay one of them until the next semester's exams, there would be a gap of nearly three months without any new training missions.
Extending the mission duration might increase the base reward, but would completing more training missions truly result in higher gains? According to the mission-triggering mechanism, it wasn't impossible for the disciple who came in second place to immediately trigger another mission to attain first place, driven by their dissatisfaction.
Mu Yue decided to play it by ear and focus on formulating enhancement plans for Obito and Might Guy for now. After all, regardless of the outcome, the more their strength improved, the greater the rewards would be, and that was a certainty.
...
On Tuesday morning, Anko Mitarashi hummed a cheerful tune as she made her way toward the Ninja Academy, her spirits high.
Having taken a day off from school on Monday, plus the weekend, she hadn't heard Mu Yue's lecture or spent time with her good brothers for three whole days.
So, Anko was especially eager for school today.
"I wonder if Teacher Mu Yue will think I'm sick and show concern. I wonder if Kotetsu Hagane and Izumo Kamizuki won the competition prize money. I can't wait," Anko thought, her anticipation for school growing by the minute.
"That must be Mitarashi Anko, one of the talented trio," a voice said.
"Yes, it's her. I remember her. She was the second place in the practical exam last time," another voice chimed in.
"Second place in the practical exam? She's really strong, but her way of thinking is a bit unique," a third voice added.
As Anko drew closer to the school, she noticed that more and more students were giving her strange looks.
"Could it be that no one ever takes a day off from the Ninja School? Is it that unusual that my leave of absence spread throughout the school?" Anko wondered, assuming that her absence was the cause of the stirs.
Musing to herself, she made her way toward the classroom of Class 1-1.
The closer she got to the classroom, the more she felt the weight of those curious gazes. A sense of unease began to creep into her.
Upon entering the classroom, she noticed something amiss. Kotetsu and Izumo, instead of chatting away as they usually did, had their heads buried in their desks as if they were asleep.
Normally, when she arrived, the two would either be discussing strategies to deal with Kotetsu's pesky cousin or sharing ideas about getting to know girls.
Anko was about to walk back to her seat to wake them up and inquire about the situation when a female classmate with whom she was on decent terms called out to her.
"Anko, you've become quite famous at the Ninja Academy these past two days," the girl said, her hand covering her mouth as she tried to suppress her laughter.
"Huh? I haven't been at school these past few days. Surely taking a leave of absence wouldn't make me famous, would it?" Anko scratched her head, perplexed.
"Wasn't that chair-summoning jutsu your doing?" The girl struggled to hold back her laughter as she continued.
"Chair-summoning? Do you mean the Confusion Jutsu? I guess so, it was something I developed with Kotetsu and Izumo," Anko replied.
The girl could no longer contain her mirth and burst into laughter. "Hahaha! You should really ask your two good brothers about it!"
"Kotetsu, Izumo, did you two not sleep well last night?" Anko, growing increasingly perplexed, decided to rouse her brothers from their slumber.
But no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't wake them up. They seemed to be in a state of deep sleep.
Normally, a girl might have given up or resorted to poking them with her fingers, but not Anko.
After confirming that her brothers were merely pretending to be asleep, she delivered a punch to each of them.
"It's all Kotetsu's fault! He embarrassed himself on stage and dragged us down with him," Izumo immediately threw his good brother under the bus, filling Anko in on what had happened at the weekend competition.
"He deliberately shouted out our full names. How despicable!" Izumo stood side by side with Anko, both of them glaring at Kotetsu with indignation.
Anko's fists clenched tightly, and she thought to herself that it couldn't have been her one-day absence that caused all this ruckus. It turned out that Kotetsu's blunder had sold her out.
Seeing Anko's angry look, Kotetsu quickly explained what had happened the previous day. "Anko, don't believe him. Izumo here has a treacherous heart. Yesterday, he was the one who suggested that since you weren't present, we should just push all the blame on you and claim that you invented the ninjutsu."
Anko: ...
She turned her gaze to Izumo, her eyes now filled with murderous intent.
Little did she know that just yesterday, she had been thinking of treating them to dumplings if they won the competition. Yet, these two so-called good brothers were quick to stab her in the back.
"You two are both troublemakers! Take this!" Anko grabbed Izumo with her left hand and Kotetsu with her right.
Being in the wrong, the two friends had no choice but to flee, bringing a momentary cheerfulness to the classroom.
The commotion finally came to an end when Mu Yue arrived.
"Teacher Mu Yue, my reputation has been ruined. I used to be known as a genius, but now they call me a talent," Anko said glumly to Mu Yue.
"Since they're not calling you a mediocre talent, it means they recognize your strength," Mu Yue smiled reassuringly.
"I still prefer being called a genius," Anko pouted.
"Then prove yourself with your performance next time," Mu Yue suggested.
"Will there be dumplings if I do well on the test?" Anko asked, her eyes sparkling with anticipation.
"If you do well, yes," Mu Yue replied with a nod.
"Okay!" Hearing that she would get dumplings if she performed well, Anko's mood instantly brightened, and her smile returned.
Just then, the bell rang to signal the start of class.
"Let's begin today's lesson," Mu Yue announced, and he began teaching the three basic ninjutsu taught at the Ninja School.
【Lecturing Complete】
【Evaluation: A】
【Reward: Water Style: Water Wall】
【Under your guidance, the students of Class 1-1 have made significant progress in ninjutsu and have been rewarded with Proficient-level Three-Body Technique】
At the end of the lecture, in addition to the usual lecturing reward, there was an unexpected extra reward for Mu Yue.
"So there are rewards other than just for lecturing," Mu Yue said, somewhat surprised.
After teaching for over two months, this was the first time he had triggered such a reward.
Although it was just a Three-Body Technique, it was at the Proficient level, which would be useful in actual combat, even if it wasn't meant for teaching the Ninja School students.
Mu Yue thought about it and felt that it made sense. After all, this was a Teacher System, not a simple Master-Disciple System.
As a teacher, he had been consistently instructing a group of students, and it was only natural that their improvement in strength would bring him some rewards.
"I wonder if the rewards would be better if I taught slightly higher-level ninjutsu," Mu Yue thought, his mind turning to ways he could improve the rewards.
It was a good idea, but Mu Yue knew it wasn't feasible at the moment due to the Ninja School's regulations, which stated that ninjutsu classes could only teach the Three-Body Technique in addition to ninjutsu theory.
Mu Yue could somewhat understand this rule.
With forty students in a class and each possessing different innate chakra attributes, it would be unreasonable to expect a Chunin teacher to be proficient in ninjutsu of all five chakra attributes. Additionally, the students' learning abilities had to be taken into consideration.
For Mu Yue, this wasn't a problem at all. Not only did he possess a vast array of ninjutsu, but he also had the benefit of the Professor skill, enhancing his lecturing abilities.
However, for his own safety, Mu Yue knew he couldn't reveal too much of his capabilities.
"Perhaps I can consider applying to the Third Hokage to teach the physical education class for Class 1-1 as well," Mu Yue thought, feeling that he could pay more attention to improving the quality of teaching for non-disciples.
He recalled that the students of Class 1-1 had expressed dissatisfaction with their physical education teacher, often complaining that the teacher wasn't good and that the classes were boring.
If Mu Yue were to personally teach their physical education class, the students' physical prowess would likely improve at a faster rate.
After finishing his lunch, Mu Yue returned to the office, his mind still pondering ways to enhance the strength of the students in Class 1-1.
In the office, a repeat of last month's incident was unfolding...
_Recently, it's at a critical moment, so everyone chases one every day, otherwise, I'll starve to death..._
