Chapter 479: Absurdity
Chapter 479: Absurdity
On the morning of the 30th, the first day of the Lunar New Year, Li Qian was confronted by his mother with an outrageous matter, leaving him feeling like this year's celebrations would be ruined.
Who would've thought his parents would be so concerned about whether Wu You could bear children? Well, they certainly were.
Li Qian was speechless, unsure of what to say. Apparently, the night before, Wu You had been pulled aside by his mother for a chat, and this was the outcome after an entire evening of talking.
Ignoring his mother's incessant nagging, Li Qian headed straight to the restaurant and enjoyed a delightful breakfast.
Only after breakfast did he release Wu You from the Beast Storage.
"Hmph!" Wu You let out a cold hum as she was released from the Beast Storage, her eyes filled with resentment.
Li Qian rubbed his nose and gave an awkward laugh. He knew he had acted a bit unfairly.
But thinking back to the previous night, the sensation of that slap had indeed felt a little different.
Aside from that, the Winged Clan woman's figure was indeed impressive, with all the right curves in all the right places.
"Um, let's have some breakfast," Li Qian mumbled somewhat guiltily in response to Wu You's resentful gaze.
After uttering these words, he hurried away, leaving Wu You unable to hold back her laughter.
The night before, he had been so bold, but now, he seemed timid and shy, like a bashful young man.
Wu You found this side of Li Qian rather amusing.
Although it was the Lunar New Year, for Li Qian, this day was no different from any other.
There were some ancestral worship and sky-worshipping ceremonies to attend, but that was just going through the motions.
Everyone else, especially his parents, was busy as bees, but the tasks assigned to him were few and far between.
So, in the base, he was the most idle one. With nothing to do and unable to help, he wandered aimlessly and stumbled upon a group of Tricats.
There were about fifteen or sixteen of these Tricats, likely the first batch of Onetails his parents had purchased that evolved.
Tail Cat-type companion beasts were unique; evolution from Onetail to Tricat was almost effortless, and even the evolution methods were publicly known.
Thus, it wasn't surprising for the base to have evolved Tricats in just a few months.
With nothing better to do, Li Qian decided to communicate with these Tricats and teach them the 'Telekinesis' skill.
This skill was essential for their upcoming evolution, and it was better to learn it sooner rather than later.
To teach them 'Telekinesis' quickly, Li Qian not only explained it himself but also asked Radiant Light Cat to demonstrate.
Although Radiant Light Cat didn't have many skills, its 'Telekinesis' was perfected, so demonstrating it was no problem.
When Radiant Light Cat appeared and exuded its superior aura, all fifteen or sixteen Tricats trembled in fear.
Of course, along with their fear, there was also anticipation. Stimulated by this mixed emotion, they practiced even harder.
After demonstrating 'Telekinesis', Radiant Light Cat suddenly turned and looked towards a specific spot. "After watching for so long, don't you want to join in the practice?"
Just as Radiant Light Cat finished speaking, Wu You emerged from behind a large tree in the distance.
"How did you get here?" Li Qian asked in surprise when he saw Wu You coming from behind the tree.
"Why can't I be here?"
Wu You approached with a smile, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. She focused her gaze on the Radiant Light Cat who had spoken and asked, "What kind of companion beast is this big white cat, and why can it speak?"
"I mean, why aren't you accompanying my mom..." Li Qian began to explain, but before he could finish, he realized that his mother was probably busy at the moment, so he changed the subject.
"This one is called the 'Radiant Light Cat,' it's a new companion beast I've recently developed."
Wu You was quite curious and immediately picked up her smart wristband to scan it, but something unexpected happened.
The wristband displayed no information at all.
"My information hasn't been registered by the owner yet," the Radiant Light Cat said with a hint of arrogance as it watched Wu You's actions. "You probably won't be able to scan anything."
"And stop being so jumpy. There are other talking companion beasts besides me."
Despite being dissed by the Radiant Light Cat, Wu You wasn't annoyed; instead, she became even more interested.
She turned to Li Qian and directly asked, "Li Qian, I'm about to break through to the Overlord Rank soon."
"After I reach the Overlord Rank, can I contract this white cat? It's so adorable!"
Upon hearing this, Li Qian's forehead creased with a black line. He valued the Radiant Light Cat, so he didn't immediately agree, "This... I'm afraid not. If you want to contract the Radiant Light Cat, you need its approval."
Just as Li Qian finished speaking, the Radiant Light Cat's voice sounded without any courtesy, "You're not qualified to contract me!"
"Don't even mention that your psychic energy level restricts you from advancing to the Overlord Rank. Even if you do advance, contracting me is basically impossible!"
The Radiant Light Cat mercilessly exposed the truth, "You and I, in essence, are not that different. Right now, you're just another companion beast of the owner!"
"And in terms of potential, yours is far inferior to mine."
"I don't want to become a companion beast's companion beast."
The Radiant Light Cat spoke with a hint of arrogance, "Of course, if you really want to form a contract with me, it's not impossible."
"At the same rank, as long as you can defeat me, I'll agree to form a contract with you."
"Oh, I forgot to mention, my attribute is Time, and my actual combat power is average. But dealing with you should be more than enough."
The Radiant Light Cat's words seemed to belittle Wu You completely.
Li Qian listened, feeling a bit embarrassed.
But Wu You smiled at the cat's words, seemingly unbothered, "Sure, let's make a deal. And by the way, you just said that I should follow you, but now you don't want to teach me."
The Radiant Light Cat chuckled, "I'd be worried if you surpassed me..."
"Anyway, it's the same for me whether I release one sheep or a flock of sheep."
The Radiant Light Cat agreed and continued to demonstrate for a group of Tricats and the others.
Li Qian stood by, watching this scene with a peculiar expression on his face.
A cat-type companion beast teaching a human skills—this situation was indeed a bit absurd.
