Chapter 475: Sudden Change
Chapter 475: Sudden Change
A few more days passed, and Liam was watching Brie and Hermione, who had transformed into Lynx, practicing combat. Suddenly, Seth, in his human form, burst out of the Quileute forest, a backpack slung over his shoulder. He approached Liam and handed him a letter. Liam waited for Hermione and the others to gather before opening the envelope.
The envelope was ivory, and inside was a thick, ornate card along with a letter written in black ink. It was from Edward, inviting Liam, Hermione, Rose Crystal, and Brie to his wedding.
"We'll be there as well", Seth said. "Edward invited us, but Jacob definitely won't come. I can imagine how hard it must be for him to see his love marry someone else."
"Alright, you're too young to worry about such things", Liam ruffled his hair. "You haven't even reached adulthood yet."
After asking Seth to deliver a reply confirming their attendance to Edward, they began to prepare for the wedding. It was then that Liam and the others realized they had no suitable formal attire. After all, attending a wedding full of ordinary humans in wizard dress robes would be quite out of place.
Fortunately, the area was equipped with internet due to the indigenous reservation, so Liam connected his computer and let the three ladies choose their formal attire. Once they had selected their styles, Liam sent the images to the Ruins of Rivendell in Middle-earth, where Elven tailors would create the desired outfits.
On the day of Edward's wedding, Liam and the others set out with the werewolves. Hermione had chosen a simple blue formal gown that complemented Liam's dark blue suit perfectly.
The wedding hall was beautifully decorated, with garlands of white flowers hanging from every corner, their long white ribbons trailing down. Rows of chairs covered in satin adorned the hall, and the number of seats indicated that the wedding would be a grand affair.
"Truly beautiful", Liam remarked sincerely. Upon entering, they were immediately guided to their seats by the ushers. Rose Crystal, having no seat, was held in Brie's arms.
During the vows, Hermione held Liam's hand, and he leaned closer to her.
In the end, the wedding was as perfect as a dream. At the reception that followed, Jacob joined the bride for a dance, a final farewell to his unforgettable but unrequited love.
"This wedding was really beautiful", Hermione commented on the way back. "Our wedding will be just as beautiful", Liam replied.
Upon returning to their temporary residence, Hermione spent the next half-month trying to use the power of death to mimic the vampires of this world. Her research achieved some success; by channeling the power of death into her body, she could significantly enhance her physical strength and endurance. However, as a living human, she could only maintain this state for up to ten minutes before risking harm to herself.
Meanwhile, Liam spent his time analyzing the werewolves of this world. Through the dissection of werewolf corpses from the Harry Potter world and a detailed study of the werewolves here, he believed he could address some of the issues Lupin and others faced with their transformations.
Just as they were tallying their progress and preparing to return to their own world, Brie returned from her visit with the Cullen family. Liam and Hermione couldn't stay in this world permanently, so they had encouraged Brie to build a relationship with the Cullens to ensure her future well-being.
During this period, Brie spent her mornings at the Cullens' home, returning in the evenings to learn the knowledge necessary for a vampire. However, today she had run over in the middle of the day, looking anxious. Fortunately, it was overcast, so there was no risk of her exposing her vampire identity.
"What happened? Why do you look so nervous?" Hermione asked with concern. As one of her official students, Hermione held Brie in high regard.
"Something's happened at the Cullen household", Brie began, delivering a shocking piece of news. "Bellatrix is pregnant."
"They only got married two weeks ago, and Edward is quite impressive", Liam grinned. "But the birth of a Freshman should be a good thing, right? Why do you look so tense now?"
"Because, theoretically, Vampires can't have offspring", Brie explained to Liam and the others. "This isn't a good sign, and more importantly, Bellatrix looks off."
"Dead people making living people have babies, huh", Hermione’s interest was piqued, and she looked at Liam with an eager expression. "I might be able to sense the key point of the transition between life and death. So—"
"It doesn't matter if we go back a bit later", Liam decided on the spot, eager to satisfy Hermione's curiosity, as such opportunities were rare. Liam thought this event might help Hermione advance in her mastery of her powers. Besides, he was also quite curious, and for Wizards seeking power, the pursuit of new knowledge was almost instinctual.
Using Apparition, Liam and Hermione instantly appeared at the Cullen household's door. The only downside of this method was that it only worked for places they had been to before. Fortunately, they had visited the Cullen household several times already.
After knocking, Carlisle opened the door, his expression serious. He led Liam and Hermione to the living room, where they found the other six members of the clan gathered around a sofa, their faces showing that the situation was not good.
As they approached, they saw Bellatrix sitting on the sofa, looking pale and exhausted. Her abdomen was slightly swollen, clearly showing signs of pregnancy.
"This isn't normal", Hermione said in surprise, her background as a dentist’s daughter giving her a wealth of knowledge. "A normal human wouldn't show signs of pregnancy until four months. What is in Bellatrix’s belly?"
"That's why we're here today", Liam said, walking over to the patient on the sofa and drawing his wand. As he cast a series of silver runes, his brow furrowed. He discovered that the fetus inside Bellatrix required an enormous amount of nutrients, far more than a human could provide.
Interestingly, this Freshman was a hybrid of human and Vampire. They had used a small amount of Supernatural Power to create a new immortal being. Unfortunately, this Freshman only balanced the Power of Life and Death without merging them. This was to be expected, as a truly powerful immortal being capable of merging life and death would not appear in a world with insufficient Supernatural Power.
"How is Bellatrix?" Alice, with her short black hair, asked.
"The situation isn't good", Liam said, watching the last rune return to his wand. Hermione stepped forward and continued casting spells to investigate further. Liam turned to the Cullen Family's Vampires and said, "The core issue is that you're trying to have a mortal give birth to an immortal. The Freshman's life is draining too much from Bellatrix."
Just as he finished speaking, a figure burst into the room. Jacob had come to learn meditation from Liam today. Finding Liam absent, he learned from Brie, who was watching the house, that Bellatrix was in trouble and rushed over as quickly as possible.
"Can we remove the monster from her belly? Otherwise, Bellatrix won't survive much longer", Jacob shouted in the living room, his eyes full of anxiety.
