Chapter 475: Sigrid Wants to Give the Sealed Tablet to Her Saint
Chapter 475: Sigrid Wants to Give the Sealed Tablet to Her Saint
In the seats of Franklin Hall, not only were the Protoss Empire's aristocrats stunned, but even the Great Sage Isis was taken aback.
Sigrid, a master of hand-to-hand combat and possessor of the [Primitive Stone Tablet - Foundation], was a Demon Summoner?
Had she been using her entire life to deceive Askesan, and that the decisive moment that would determine life or death was when her true abilities would be exposed?
Although Isis had never seen these three demon summons before, she somehow felt a sense of deja vu.
On the battlefield:
"Sigrid! Where did you get these three epic summons?!"
Askesan's gray figure retreated, creating distance as he questioned Sigrid.
Others may not understand Sigrid's situation, but he knew all too well.
After all, he was the one who had personally sealed her powers.
Even now, he could sense that the seal still firmly locked away her true attributes!
There was no way Sigrid could be a summoner; she had been forced into this role by the seal, and her true self remained incredibly weak.
But at this moment:
The three eighth-rank demons stood like towering walls, blocking all paths between Askesan and Sigrid.
What truly struck fear into Askesan's heart was this—even if he took a step back and considered Sigrid's sealed state, her depleted magical energy would be instantly exhausted if she tried to sustain these three eighth-rank epic summons. His only chance for victory lay in a quick battle; he couldn't afford to let them prepare for combat so leisurely.
Unless...
These three demon summons didn't require the consumption of magical energy at all, defying the logic of magic cards and acting on their own!
On the other side of the battlefield:
After the three figures had set up an absolutely solid defensive barrier around Sigrid, they finally turned their attention to Askesan in the distance.
"Your Majesty, please stand behind me."
"Although I'm not too keen on seeing who possesses the King, I'd rather see it in your hands than let that useless demon defile it. I believe you are the strong woman who deserves to be with the King."
"Beauty belongs to the strong, and Miss Sigrid, I believe you are the one who will obtain the King."
The three great demons showed their respect to Sigrid.
"Alright, alright, you three, go deal with that thief first."
Sigrid, feeling a bit embarrassed, covered her blushing cheeks with her hands and waved her right hand, signaling for the three great demons to deal with Askesan first. Other matters could be discussed later.
Sigrid had been observing Lanchi making cards in the card crafting workshop these days, so she naturally knew what her saint had done.
Previously, when Lanchi visited the Helrom Infinite Library, she had come across a fourth-rank spell card called [Forbidden Curse Seal] in the directory of the Pink Holy Nation's collection. Its effect allowed the user to enter into a temporary subordinate contract with the target's consent, turning them into their familiar and granting them an attribute bonus equivalent to one-eighth of their own.
In essence, it was a curse-type magic card with a small amount of sealing principle incorporated.
While it seemed a bit ambiguous in its purpose, when paired with summoner spells that could "grant powerful bonuses to familiars" and "transfer them," it could be quite useful.
However, accepting this forbidden curse was also extremely dangerous. Once one became a familiar with the nature of a summon, they might be vulnerable to instant death effects and the risk of further control.
Nevertheless, the spell itself shared similarities with the ["Poem of Mercy"] and ["Great Loving Poet"] in that it contained the "forbidden principle of transforming magic cards into living entities."
After Lanchi and the Great Loving Poet selected this [Forbidden Curse], the poet effortlessly dismantled and reset it. Then, using the principle of his own birth, he collaborated with Lanchi to create a new spell—
[Didi the Beater]
[Category: Spell Card]
[Grade: Purple Rare]
[Attribute: Curse/Link]
[Class: 4]
[Effect: With the target's consent, enter into a temporary subordinate contract with a demon, transforming them into your summon and establishing a faint mental connection.]
[Note: Our kin has awakened, and we find no rest. Great love and unity, guide us to victory.]
The purpose of this card was to enable the use of grand summoning techniques in one-on-one battles, bringing over an army of demons to gang up on the opponent!
When combined with the encapsulation effect of [Nuclear Fusion Wolf], it could even seal the summoned demons back into cards similar to [Great Loving Poet].
Summons with self-awareness, like [Great Loving Poet], could choose to remain summoned or unsummoned, even after the mandatory sealing duration ended, based on their own will.
And so, before today's bishop election, her saint had her enter into a contract with Antharas the Guardian, disguised as a demon, Siniora the Lawbreaker, and Pranai the Truth. Then, using [Nuclear Fusion Wolf],
In the distant Franklin Hall, not only were the aristocrats of the Protoss Empire stunned, but even the Great Sage Isis was taken aback by the events transpiring in the Deadly Arena.
Askesan's rage-filled roar echoed, his demeanor undergoing a drastic change. The confidence and disdain in his eyes had vanished, replaced by a complex mix of fear, confusion, and anger. He never expected Sigrid, renowned for her unmatched martial prowess, to suddenly transform into a summoner, controlling demons at her behest.
Askesan couldn't comprehend what Sigrid was saying to the three demons, but seeing her blush and act like a shy maiden made him want to retch in disgust.
"You don't need to understand, Askesan. From the very beginning, that person's sole intention was to get a glimpse of your tablet, and my presence ruined his plans..."
The more Sigrid thought about that person, the more her smile widened. "It's come to this now, whether you like it or not, I'm going to help him fulfill his wish."
The way she looked at Askesan was no longer as if gazing at a sworn enemy, but rather like beholding an exquisite gift displayed in a mall's glass showcase.
Even from the other end of the Deadly Arena, Askesan felt the sickening scent of infatuation emanating from her.
"Are you truly the unrivaled Cardinal Sigrid? Just fight! Don't disgrace the duel with this display of affection! What do you take me for?"
"Playing matchmaker, Askesan? Now I understand why you thanked me before the start of the Deadly Arena." The more he thought about it, the angrier he became, his rage threatening to consume him.
Back in Franklin Hall, the voices of the imperial nobles rose like waves.
Lanchi stood there with his arms crossed, watching the Deadly Arena unfold. Although he couldn't understand what the three great demons were saying to Sigrid, he felt that they were discussing something that made her uncomfortable.
He made a mental note to speak to them later and remind them to show more respect to Sigrid, who, despite her youthful appearance, was their senior in terms of age.
In the center of the Deadly Arena, three casual figures slowly advanced towards Askesan, like hunters in a long-awaited game, finally beginning their feast.
Askesan had nowhere to retreat, and he prepared to engage them. The probing spells he had casually cast earlier were either blocked by the barrier or sliced apart, and the abyssal aura that filled the air eroded his defensive barriers.
In this situation, once he was cornered, Askesan's sealing techniques, despite their power, would be challenging to fully unleash, making it difficult to defend against the three-pronged assault of the demons, each specializing in a different magic system.
Askesan panted, regulating his breathing and observing the demons' movements. Although they hadn't yet displayed their full capabilities, he had a good grasp of their combat power and roles.
He would be able to hold his ground and engage them in prolonged combat.
Askesan's head hung low, his breath steadying.
Until a smile curved the corners of his mouth.
"Hahaha, hahahaha!"
He had finally confirmed something, and he threw his head back, laughing maniacally.
"Sigrid, you've miscalculated! In this carefully laid trap, your struggles with your saint are futile!" Askesan's eyes fixed on the distant, composed figure of Sigrid, filled with twisted joy and murderous intent.
In that instant, he sensed the faint magical power of the northern snow wolf on each of the three demons.
And through that magical connection, his alter ego sitting in the seat of the extinct Great Priest in the Deadly Arena felt the same frequency of magical fluctuations!
This indicated that the true body of the Holy Son of Dominance was indeed disguised among the audience in Franklin Hall.
And that position was not far away.
Soon, very soon, he would find that sneaky little man.
As soon as he located the Holy Son of Dominance, he would immediately threaten Sigrid's life, demanding her surrender! Whether the Holy Son was a lowly minor noble or a local official of the Empire, Askesan was confident that his alter ego could control him in an instant without anyone noticing!
Unless, of course, the Holy Son of Dominance turned out to be someone like the Great Sage Isis, Morotian Berenhart, or Rocky McCarthy—now that would be a hilarious joke!
