Chapter 475: Professor Trelawney's New Prophecy
Chapter 475: Professor Trelawney's New Prophecy
"But you're not—" Hermione looked at Ivan in surprise, trying to protest, but her usually sharp tongue seemed to fail her today. Her words became hesitant, eventually turning into a low murmur.
Ivan didn't hear what she said and didn't pay much attention, continuing to read his book.
At this moment, Harry seemed to remember something, hesitating for a moment before speaking. "Do you think Professor Trelawney seemed strange today?"
"What's wrong? That old witch is always mumbling nonsense, isn't she?" Ron sneered, casually criticizing.
This year, Ron believed he had figured out Professor Trelawney's true nature—she was just a fraud who pretended to be crazy to fool people.
He really didn't understand why Professor Dumbledore would hire her.
"No, today was different!" Harry shook his head, speaking with certainty.
Ivan, who had been flipping through his book, stopped and closed it. He looked at Harry seriously and asked, "Did Professor Trelawney make a new prophecy?"
"How did you know it was a prophecy?" Harry was very surprised.
Before Ivan could explain, Hermione spoke up first. "Because Professor Trelawney has made predictions for us before."
"The one about the hellish slaughter?" Ron laughed, remembering how it had scared him at the time, but nothing had happened.
Harry also remembered and laughed along.
"Yes! That prophecy came true!" Hermione looked at the two of them, who seemed unconcerned, frowned, and said seriously.
"It came true?!" Ron was startled, dropping the book he was holding.
"When did it happen, and how did it come true? Why didn't we know?" Harry was confused. Unlike Ron, he remembered clearly the content of Professor Trelawney's prophecy.
"You will witness a slaughter! Blood in hell!"
If this prophecy were to come true, it would be extremely terrifying!
Yet, Ivan and Hermione had been in the castle every day this year, often meeting with them. Harry couldn't figure out how the prophecy could have been fulfilled.
"It came true, and that's all that matters. Why are you asking so many questions?" Hermione glared at them. Then, the young witch glanced at Ivan, her eyes softening as she recalled their past experiences.
Under Hermione's glare, Harry and Ron, despite having many questions, could only keep them to themselves.
"What exactly did Professor Trelawney say to you?" Ivan changed the subject and asked directly.
Harry hesitated for a moment before speaking honestly.
During the Divination class, he had accidentally left his book in the classroom and went back to retrieve it. When he returned, he found Professor Trelawney watching a crystal ball.
"She seemed very strange, like a hollow shell without a soul", Harry shuddered as he recalled the encounter, trying to describe the feeling accurately.
"After I entered, Professor Trelawney noticed me and said: 'Darkness is approaching, a great shadow looms over the sky. The Dark Lord's servants will break free, and the magical world will face a great change.'"
At this point, Harry paused. Professor Trelawney had also mentioned something about Death, but it was very vague, and he didn't hear everything.
Hearing the content of the prophecy, Ron couldn't help but shiver.
"Do you think the Dark Lord's servant is Peter Pettigrew?" Harry hesitated for a moment before asking.
"But Peter Pettigrew was captured and sent to Azkaban, right? He shouldn't be able to get out, should he?" Ron said hopefully, a hint of doubt in his voice.
He didn't want this prophecy to come true at all.
"That's why it's called escaping, isn't it?" Hermione shattered Ron's illusions. "He's an Animagus! Sirius Black said that the Dementors guarding Azkaban aren't interested in animals. Sirius Black escaped by turning into a black dog!"
"No! Peter won't get out that easily. The Ministry of Magic knows he's an Animagus and will definitely tighten security. If anything goes wrong, public opinion will drown Fudge! They have no reason to be negligent", Ivan frowned deeply and countered.
Previously, due to the wrongful arrest of Sirius Black, many wizards were already furious at the Ministry of Magic's mistakes.
If they let the hard-earned capture of Peter Pettigrew slip away this time, Fudge as the Minister of Magic might have to step down quickly.
"You see, I told you he can't escape!" Ron was delighted to see that even Ivan supported his view.
However, what he didn't expect was that Ivan quickly changed his tone and continued. "But if someone helps him, it's a different story!"
Ivan neatly put the books on the table into his pocket and called out to Harry and the others.
"There's no time to waste. We need to inform Professor Dumbledore right away!"
Harry, Ron, and Hermione also realized the severity of the situation. They put aside their revision and hurriedly made their way to the Headmaster's office.
"By the way, does anyone remember when Peter's sentence is up?"
While running down the corridor, Ivan suddenly thought of something and asked.
"It's today, I think!" Hermione calculated the time and said with certainty.
Ivan seemed to have an idea and urged them to run faster.
Half an hour earlier, in the waters of the North Sea, on a solitary island.
Mrs. Pettigrew was, as usual, leaning on her cane to visit her son. However, she was stopped by two Aurors before she could enter.
"According to procedure, please hand over your wand, Mrs. Pettigrew!"
"I don't have a wand, sirs. This is just my cane. Please, have some mercy on an old woman with a bad leg. The guards here haven't taken my cane the last few times I came. I just want to see my son one last time!"
Mrs. Pettigrew spoke in a sorrowful tone, occasionally shedding a few tears, which was very touching.
The two Aurors were always mindful of their duties and responsibilities, and they seemed hesitant. However, moved by the golden Galleons Mrs. Pettigrew offered, they finally let her in.
How could they refuse the request of a pitiful mother?
Of course, to be safe, one of the Aurors chose to follow her closely to prevent any accidents.
Mrs. Pettigrew nodded, showing no signs of anything unusual, and walked calmly through the prison of Azkaban.
The place was dilapidated and dark, with rust forming on the iron doors of the cells. Occasionally, cries of anguish, trembling screams, and curses could be heard.
