Chapter 475: Flowing Silver Guardian
Chapter 475: Flowing Silver Guardian (Requesting Monthly Vote)
The corridor buzzed with discussion, but Lin Qi, the center of attention, had already said his goodbyes.
Instead of heading downstairs, he took the elevator upward alongside Dean Liu.
A soft click signaled the office door sliding open, revealing a pristine white entrance.
"Take a seat!" Dean Liu gestured. Lin Qi settled onto the blue sofa, accepting a bottle of mineral water from the dean's hand.
"Lin Qi, are you planning to return to Tianhai City?"
Lin Qi placed the water bottle down. "I've been thinking about going back, but..."
Dean Liu retrieved a large black metal case from his desk, setting it down with a smile. "Security won't be an issue. The city's defensive systems are fully operational now. Every major city is under the Sky Eye System's surveillance. The Vermin God Cult wouldn't dare attempt an assassination on an Sss-Rank Genius in such conditions—it's practically impossible."
He leaned forward, tapping the case. "Now that you're an Sss-Rank Genius, we'll upgrade your personal security further."
Lin Qi's gaze fixed on the case. "What's inside?"
"A little gift", Dean Liu grinned, pressing a button on the obsidian steel container.
With a sharp beep, the case sprang open, revealing a sleek, gleaming silver metal sphere nestled within—identical in size and shape to Xiaochan's original form.
Dean Liu lifted the sphere, admiration in his eyes. "Lin Qi, this represents humanity's pinnacle of technological achievement. Truth be told, we couldn't have created this ourselves."
Lin Qi stiffened. "We couldn't create it? Then who..."
"The Vermin Race?"
"Not necessarily", Dean Liu clarified. "Our three leading academies provide S-Rank Geniuses with AI Companions upon enrollment. These use specialized alloys mixed with Delta Alloy—enough to withstand attacks from mid-tier Martial Artists. Your AI Companion's shell has been reinforced to resist even seventh-stage weapon strikes temporarily."
He paused, cradling the silver sphere. "But this device is entirely different. It's a liquid-state robot."
Lin Qi's eyes widened. He'd heard of liquid-state robots during discussions at Crimson Heaven Residence—rare, coveted, and virtually unattainable for all but the wealthiest elites.
Dean Liu continued, "Liquid robots vary in tiers. This one belongs to Tier Two. Simply insert your AI Companion's chip, and Xiaochan will control the entire nanobot system, reshaping the liquid metal body as needed."
"While its offensive capabilities only match a typical Seventh Realm Martial Artist, its true strength lies in defense. Its form shifts dynamically mid-battle, resisting attacks from eighth-level Disaster Beasts or even Eighth-Stage Martial Artists. Against Level Nine threats—a Nine Realms Martial Artist, for instance—it can hold firm momentarily."
Lin Qi's breath quickened. A defense capable of temporarily withstanding a Nine Realms Martial Artist? With this guardian, assassinations would become a non-issue in the city.
"Install the chip now", Dean Liu urged.
"Xiaochan!" Lin Qi called. The metal sphere floated toward him. Its "eyes" closed, the top hatch opened, and a recessed slot emerged. Xiaochan's black chip slid out.
Dean Liu activated the new shell's port. Lin Qi inserted the chip.
A high-pitched hum filled the air. The sphere's eyes flickered open, levitating as Xiaochan's voice resonated clearly: "Master, I'm here!"
"Any differences?" Lin Qi asked.
"I detect enhanced defensive protocols", Xiaochan replied.
"Activate defense mode!"
The sphere shimmered like molten silver, expanding rapidly. Within seconds, it reshaped into a statuesque woman—identical to Xiaochan's usual projection—with jet-black hair, sharp features, and a blue bodysuit clinging to her lithe frame.
Lin Qi reached out, tracing her face. The surface rippled like liquid silk.
"Xiaochan, you can shift forms", she explained.
Dean Liu interjected, "Test it with an attack, Lin Qi."
Lin Qi obliged, stepping back. Golden Radiance erupted around him, condensing into a razor-sharp blade that slashed toward Xiaochan.
Her arms transformed instantly into a swirling silver shield, engulfing her form.
Boom!
The golden blade detonated against the barrier, scattering like sparks. Xiaochan stood unshaken, her shield unmarked.
Dean Liu nodded. "This is just one defensive mode. It can shift between solid and liquid states, forming countless shapes. Its reaction speed? 0.001 seconds—faster than most Eighth-Stage Martial Artists."
He gestured proudly. "We call it the Flowing Silver Guardian. Ordinary Sss-Rank Geniuses receive the third-tier model, but since you've awakened two Special Abilities, you qualify for Tier Two."
"As long as you remain within Xia Kingdom, you'll be safe. Crimson Vault Martial Arts Pavilion is leasing this unit to you—free for the first year, then 50 million Xia Kingdom Currency annually afterward."
Lin Qi nodded. Such technology was priceless—beyond any market value. With this guardian, returning home after over a year became feasible.
Memories of familiar faces stirred. It was time to go back.
