Chapter 474: No Choice, I've Always Been This Clever!
Chapter 474: No Choice, I've Always Been This Clever!
Harry and the others were skeptical of Ivan's words.
"Do you really think she's great?" Hermione looked at Ivan and suddenly spoke, her tone a bit heavy.
"As a friend, yes", Ivan hesitated for a moment, then nodded.
From the original timeline, it was clear that Luna was loyal to her friends and very smart.
Last year, she indirectly helped him decipher the clues left by Slytherin. Having such a friend was certainly something to be grateful for.
"Then you also believe that Nargles really exist?" Hermione's tone seemed a bit unhappy.
"I don't know, I never make definitive conclusions about things I don't know!" Ivan shook his head and answered honestly.
"Nargles are just her imagination, they don't exist at all!" Hermione said angrily, then gathered her things and stood up, ready to leave the Gryffindor table.
"Where are you going, Hermione?" Ivan watched Hermione leave, a bit puzzled.
Hermione didn't turn around, and after a moment, her voice came through.
"The library!"
Ivan immediately understood. Seeing Hermione's hard work, a sense of urgency washed over him again. He reached into his pocket, which had an Extension Charm on it, and pulled out a copy of *Advanced Spell Analysis*, flipping through it.
"Ivan, aren't you going to the library with her?" Angelina suddenly asked from beside him.
"Why would I go there? The books I need are all here!" Ivan was puzzled, patting the book in his hand and pulling out a few more from his pocket to stack them up.
To make reading easier, Ivan had already borrowed the books he wanted and carried them with him all the time. He could read whenever he wanted, without having to make a long trip to the library.
This greatly saved his time.
No choice, he's always been this clever!
Ivan thought to himself, feeling quite pleased, but he didn't notice Angelina's exasperated look at him.
In the days following the Quidditch match, Ivan remained immersed in his studies.
The House Points he had accumulated this year were almost all used up in a short time.
But the effort was worth it. The spells he knew had mostly been improved to the fifth level, with a few even reaching the sixth level.
Since he couldn't significantly increase his power in the short term, Ivan decided to focus on improving his weaker areas.
However, considering he would be consulting with Alchemist Nicolas Flamel during the summer, Ivan reserved some House Points. With the rewards he would receive at the end of the term, he should have enough for then.
The only thing that troubled Ivan during these days was that Hermione's mood seemed to be very irritable, and she often ignored him.
If not for the fact that they still studied together frequently, he might not see her for days.
Harry and Ron were also troubled, but their worries stemmed from the upcoming final exams.
This year, they had several new subjects, which made their coursework much heavier and increased the amount of material they needed to review.
What worried them the most was Professor Snape's Potions class, as they had spent most of the time in class bickering and hadn't studied properly.
Now that the exam was approaching, they had to cram as hard as they could, hoping to pass.
Ivan looked at Harry and Ron, who were frowning and memorizing the content of their textbooks, and shook his head helplessly.
At that moment, Hermione, holding a book, walked in from the entrance of the Gryffindor Common Room.
Ivan turned his head and was momentarily stunned.
Today's Hermione was different from usual, having changed her usual casual appearance.
Her usually messy hair was neatly groomed, smooth and shiny, and swept behind her ears, revealing her delicate cheeks. Her front teeth had been magically adjusted to look normal.
This made Hermione, who was usually not very noticeable, look stunning and much more beautiful.
Harry and Ron, who also noticed this, stuttered and almost didn't recognize Hermione.
"Hermione, what's different about you today?" Harry hesitated, wanting to ask.
"What, I can't change my appearance if I want to?" Hermione cut him off, glaring at them like a little lion.
Harry and Ron, intimidated by her presence, immediately fell silent.
Ivan, who was about to compliment her like Harry and Ron, also quickly closed his mouth. He didn't want to be scolded.
Hermione, as usual, put down her book, sat down, and started reading.
Soon, the only sound in the Gryffindor Common Room was the turning of pages.
"By the way, does anyone know the ingredients and effects of the Shrinking Potion?" Ron, while taking notes, suddenly slapped his head and complained.
He flipped through the book but couldn't find the page about the Shrinking Potion, so he looked at Harry, Ivan, and Hermione for help.
Without looking up, Ivan, relying on his memory of a certain section of the textbook, answered casually.
Across from him, Hermione instinctively started speaking, and their voices intertwined.
"The Shrinking Potion can return a creature to its childhood form. The required ingredients are Daisy Root, Fig Bark, Caterpillar, a small drop of Leech Juice, and Mouse Spleen. The preparation steps are—"
"The Shrinking Potion can return a creature to its childhood form. The required ingredients are Daisy Root, Fig Bark, Caterpillar, a small drop of Leech Juice, and Mouse Spleen. The preparation steps are—"
Ivan realized something was wrong and immediately stopped, only to find that Hermione had also stopped. Ivan turned to look at her, and their eyes met.
Hermione quickly turned her head away and said, "You can go ahead!"
"You can go ahead!"
Their voices synchronized again, making the atmosphere in the common room quite awkward. For a moment, neither of them spoke.
Ron, who was taking notes, was getting frustrated, wanting to throw his quill. What are the preparation steps? Just finish it already, don't stop at such a crucial moment!
Fortunately, Harry timely provided the help Ron needed. Harry felt that the situation was a bit tense and it was better not to stir things up.
"Aren't you going to see your friend Luna these days?" Hermione asked casually after a moment of silence.
When she mentioned the word "friend", Hermione couldn't help but emphasize it a bit.
"Luna is in Ravenclaw, what do I need to see her for? Even if we are friends, we don't need to meet so frequently, right?" Ivan looked at Hermione in confusion. He was so busy now; unless they ran into each other or he needed something from her, he didn't have the time.
