Chapter 474: Following the God of Wealth's Lead
Chapter 474: Following the God of Wealth's Lead
At the beginning of the year, Zong Shimeng invested all her cash on hand, amounting to over 8 million yuan, into stocks. So far, she had profited over 13 million yuan from this venture. She was quite satisfied with this amount and didn't feel particularly envious of Lu Jiaxin.
Zong Shimeng was no fool, and noticing that Lu Jiaxin knew the exact amount of her profits, she asked, "Jiaxin, how did you know so precisely? Did you ask your stockbroker?"
Lu Jiaxin smiled and replied, "Ah Zhan told me last week that even the street sweepers in Hong Kong City are buying stocks nowadays. It's not a good sign, so he suggested that I sell all my stocks."
Zong Shimeng's heart skipped a beat as she asked, "You sold all your stocks?"
Lu Jiaxin nodded with a smile and said, "Yes, I've sold them all. The funds have been returned to my account this week. With the real estate market booming, I plan to invest in some more high-quality properties. I've already asked Tan Gang to look into it."
"So, Nie Zhan also sold all his stocks?" Zong Shimeng inquired.
Lu Jiaxin smiled and answered, "No, he kept the stocks for the Peninsula Hotel and the Mandarin Oriental. He sold everything else. As for the retrieved funds, he said he intends to use them to repay debts."
The reason Nie Zhan hadn't sold the stocks for these two hotels was that Lu Jiaxin liked them, and he wanted to become a shareholder. However, as he was currently focused on developing real estate, he had only purchased a small number of stocks.
Shi Xinyu, puzzled, said, "That can't be right? Tao Yong told me just the other day that the stock market was doing well, and he bought another 3 million yuan worth of stocks on Tuesday!"
Recalling Nie Zhan's previous windfall from foreign exchange trading, Zong Shimeng asked, "Jiaxin, did Nie Zhan receive some kind of insider information?"
Lu Jiaxin laughed it off. "There's no insider information. Nie Zhan just feels that an overheated stock market isn't a good sign, and he told me it's better to make a little less money than to take unnecessary risks. I think I've made quite a lot already, and investing in real estate is a safer bet. After all, if property values drop, you still have the physical buildings, but if stocks plummet, your money is gone."
Zong Shimeng thought about it and agreed. If Nie Zhan had received any insider information, he would surely have shared it with his wife. However, with the stock market booming, she was reluctant to sell everything and found herself in a dilemma.
Lu Jiaxin had already given them a hint, and it was up to them to decide whether to sell or not. Lu Jiaxin got up and said to Yu Meotong, "Let's play a game."
"Okay," Yu Meotong replied.
Yu Meotong hadn't invested in stocks, so whether the market went up or down had no impact on her, and she remained the most relaxed among them.
Zong Shimeng and Shi Xinyu, still preoccupied with thoughts of the stock market, left after lunch to return home. Lu Jiaxin, who had been playing tennis all morning, was also tired and headed home for a nap.
Upon waking up, Lu Jiaxin called Su Heyuan. "I told you last time that I'd let you know when I sold all my stocks, and I've done it. The funds have been returned to my account."
Upon hearing this, Su Heyuan couldn't sit still. "Are you at home now? I'll come over right away."
Before Lu Jiaxin could respond, the phone line went dead. She couldn't help but feel helpless. It was Sunday, the stock market was closed, and she didn't understand what the rush was.
As soon as Su Heyuan entered the living room, he saw Lu Jiaxin sitting on the sofa reading a financial magazine. "When did you liquidate all your stocks?" he asked loudly.
His voice carried, and the chef working in the kitchen heard it. He walked out, spatula in hand.
Seeing his anxious expression, Lu Jiaxin smiled and said, "Why are you shouting? If there's something to discuss, let's go upstairs."
The chef looked at Lu Jiaxin's retreating figure and asked the housekeeper, "Sister Meng, did I hear Mr. Su correctly? Did our boss really sell all her stocks?"
Aunt Meng nodded. "You heard right. The boss did indeed say that."
"Why did the boss sell all her stocks?" the chef asked.
Aunt Meng sighed helplessly, "You're asking me? How would I know? But since the boss has sold all her stocks, I'll ask the stockbroker to do the same with mine tomorrow."
The chef hesitated, "Maybe the boss needs the funds for something else?"
Aunt Meng glanced at him and walked away without saying a word. It was up to him whether he wanted to believe it or not. Their young boss had built such a vast empire at a young age, and it was clear that she was far more capable than them. While Aunt Meng didn't understand finance, she trusted the boss's decisions implicitly, even if it meant missing out on some profits.
Entering the study and closing the door, Lu Jiaxin remarked, "People always say that walls have ears. With so many people downstairs, you should really consider the setting. You're almost thirty, yet you're still so flustered over small matters."
Su Heyuan wasn't bothered by her words, "Didn't you say that you'd let me know when you were going to liquidate all your stocks? Why are you only telling me now that the funds are back in your account?"
Lu Jiaxin rolled her eyes at him, "Go find the stockbroker later and ask him to sell your stocks when the market opens tomorrow."
Previously, Su Heyuan had reduced his holdings by half, and now he only had stocks worth a few hundred million yuan. With the stock market booming, he could easily sell them by putting them up for sale. This was also the reason why Lu Jiaxin had only informed him now.
Su Heyuan's haste wasn't just because of Lu Jiaxin's stock sale, "After liquidating all your stocks, are you planning to keep the money in the bank or make other investments?"
Lu Jiaxin's eyebrows furrowed slightly, "Why? If I make other investments, do you want to follow?"
"I'll follow without hesitation," Su Heyuan replied.
"Even if the risk is substantial?" she asked.
"I'll still follow," he affirmed.
"I'm shorting the Hang Seng Index. Are you sure you want to follow me on this?" Lu Jiaxin said.
"Of course," Su Heyuan said with a smile. "Why not?"
Lu Jiaxin looked at him, "I'm not joking. I'm seriously shorting the Hang Seng Index, and I've put all my money into it."
Su Heyuan's eyes widened in surprise, "Are you serious?"
"Of course, with this much money, who would joke about it?" she replied.
He asked if she had received some insider information.
Leaning back in her chair, Lu Jiaxin said, "What kind of information could I possibly get? I just feel like taking a gamble. If I win, I can do whatever I want in the future. If I lose, I'll only have Wufu Jewelry and Qirui Company left, and I'll have to work hard to earn money again."
Su Heyuan thought the gamble was a bit too big, but he still said, "I'll go find the broker later and ask him to sell my stocks tomorrow, and then I'll short the Hang Seng Index as well."
"Aren't you afraid of losing everything?" she asked.
After making his decision, Su Heyuan relaxed, "I'll use this money to follow your lead. You've invested most of your net worth, so even if I blow up my account, I'll only lose 40 million yuan."
Following the God of Wealth's lead, one could never go wrong.
Last month, after selling half of his stocks, he had 35 million yuan left. With the market's rise, he had made a little more, and he would add to it to make it a full 40 million.
Seeing that he had made up his mind, Lu Jiaxin said, "I'm using the highest leverage of ten times to short the market. If you want to follow me, you have to do the same."
"Okay," he agreed.
Then he asked, "Does Nie Zhan know about this?"
Lu Jiaxin nodded, "He knows. It's hard to hide something this big from him. He disagrees because he thinks it's too risky, but since it's my money, he leaves the decision to me. If you want to make a big profit, you have to take risks, don't you agree?"
Su Heyuan fully agreed with her. These people in Hong Kong would do anything to make money—forex trading, stock trading, real estate speculation; as long as it could make money, they would do it. No matter what they traded, there was always a huge risk involved, but that didn't stop them from chasing profits.
