Chapter 473: Friends and Friends
Chapter 473: Friends and Friends
At the same time, Luna was walking down the castle corridor, holding a sign. She looked at Ivan, and her ethereal voice rang out.
"You flew really well just now. I think even professional Chasers couldn’t be as good as you."
"Do you like Quidditch matches?" Ivan was a bit surprised. He had thought that someone as aloof as Luna wouldn’t be very interested in such an intense sport.
"Mm, watching a bunch of people flying around in the sky is quite interesting!" Luna said, nodding her head.
Ivan was speechless, not knowing how to respond. Luna’s thoughts were always so whimsical.
However, as they walked together, Ivan vaguely sensed someone following them and stopped to look back.
Under his gaze, a few Ravenclaw-clad young witches at the end of the corridor ran away in panic.
"Are they your friends?" Ivan asked curiously.
"No, they are my roommates", Luna shook her head, emphasizing her explanation. Then she continued, "The letter you wrote me was accidentally seen by them. They just don’t believe I could have such a famous friend, just like they don’t believe that Snorkacks really exist."
Ivan looked at her with a hint of pity. He suddenly remembered their first meeting last year and the troubles she faced in the dormitory. He frowned and asked, "Do your roommates still tease you often?"
"Maybe they just like pranks", Luna said softly.
"But they don’t have the courage to do it anymore, after all, I am a friend of Hogwarts Star, Order of Merlin, Second Class, Ivan Hals."
At this, Luna smiled.
Ivan scratched his head. He didn’t know he had such an intimidating presence?
But since Luna said so, Ivan decided not to interfere. Everyone has their own way of dealing with things, and the young witches are smart enough to know how to protect themselves.
"By the way, if you haven’t made any friends in Ravenclaw House, how about I introduce you to a few? They are all very nice people!" Ivan suggested.
This was also the reason he had come to find Luna.
Ivan didn’t want Luna to miss out on the opportunity to be friends with Harry and others just because she had met him early. That would be too lonely.
Luna just smiled, neither agreeing nor disagreeing.
Just as they were talking, they saw Harry, George, and others walking over.
"Ivan! What are you doing here? We were just planning to find a place to celebrate, but you ran off on your own!" George slapped Ivan on the shoulder and teased him.
But soon, George turned his gaze to Luna, who was standing next to Ivan.
"Who is she?"
"I was just about to introduce her", Ivan smiled, pointing at Luna. "This is Luna Lovegood, my friend from Ravenclaw."
"Luna? That crazy girl from Ravenclaw?" Angelina immediately recalled the rumors she had heard from her friends and blurted out.
George quickly glared at her.
"Ah, sorry! I didn’t mean it that way", Angelina immediately corrected herself, looking at Luna apologetically.
"It’s okay", Luna slowly shook her head, not minding. She was used to people calling her that. Then she looked at Harry and the others and greeted them.
"Hello everyone!"
The normally enthusiastic greeting, when spoken by Luna, came out rather flat, making Harry and the others feel a bit uncomfortable. However, they still responded with warmth.
Hermione was staring intently at Luna, especially at the sign she was holding.
"Are you looking at it? I made it myself!" Luna noticed this and lifted the sign in her arms.
Only then did Harry and the others notice that the sign read "Cheer for Ivan-Hals!" with two little figures holding hands drawn above it.
Luna's drawing was excellent, and anyone could tell that the figures represented her and Ivan. In the middle of the two figures, a circle was drawn with the word "friend!" written in golden magical letters.
George and Fred exchanged a strange look between Luna and Ivan, while Hermione remained silent, her lips pressed together.
"Aren't you supposed to be celebrating? What are you waiting for?" Ivan sensed that the atmosphere was a bit off and tried to change the subject.
"Ah! Right, right! Let's go to the Great Hall!" Fred quickly grabbed Harry and the others, while George kept cracking small jokes to liven up the mood along the way.
Since Luna wasn't very familiar with Harry and the others and didn't like changing herself to fit in, she found it difficult to join in the conversation.
Fortunately, Ivan breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that Luna wasn't being left out, as Hermione unexpectedly got along well with her. They spent a whole hour debating the existence of Nargles!
"I've read many books, and neither the Encyclopedia of Magical Creatures nor the Guide to British Wildlife mentions anything about Nargles!" Hermione argued.
"Ah! I've read those books too, but they say that many creatures have only been discovered in the past century. The fact that Nargles aren't recorded doesn't mean they don't exist; it just means no one has found them yet!" Luna countered.
"Without evidence, you can't prove they exist!" Hermione pushed back with full force.
"That's why I'm looking for them!" Luna replied casually.
In the Great Hall of Hogwarts, an unusual scene unfolded.
On one side, Ivan and the others were celebrating their Quidditch victory, while the two young witches argued incessantly on the other side.
This continued until dinner, when Luna finally got up and left for the Ravenclaw table, bringing the debate to an end.
Harry, Ron, and George all heaved a sigh of relief. If the argument had continued, the celebration would have been impossible to carry on.
Ivan shook his head, realizing that introducing Luna to them hadn't gone as well as he had hoped.
"Ivan, how did you become friends with her?" George emphasized the word "friends" and asked with a hint of ambiguity.
He was curious about this. Luna was known as the eccentric girl from Ravenclaw, and who would normally wear a wine bottle cork as a necklace?
But if you ignored her quirky habits, she was actually quite cute. Could that be the reason?
Ivan could tell that George was hinting at something and felt that he might have misunderstood. Still, he explained.
"If you got to know her better, you'd find that although Luna is a bit odd, she's actually a very nice person!"
