After arranging the incense for the werewolves, Liam stepped out of his room and saw Hermione standing under a tree, waiting for him. As soon as she saw him, she pulled him behind the tree and looked at him with a serious expression. "Have you noticed any changes in your body while mastering the rules?"
"Of course, the Power of the Rules will bring changes", Liam immediately guessed what Hermione was concerned about. It had been over two months since they returned to the World of the Living after the Stone Arches, and Hermione had likely discovered the various issues that came with the new power. "These powers gradually transform us, making us less and less human."
Liam omitted an important detail: mastering the rules didn't automatically lead to changes. Hermione's transformation was because, while in the Death Worlds, Liam had taught her a method to learn the rules based on his own alchemy. This method led to her body undergoing the same changes as his.
"For example—" Hermione made a strange face after hearing Liam's words. "You don't mean we'll end up looking like the Dark Lord, do you? I can understand making sacrifices for the greater good, but that would be too much."
"No, no, no", Liam quickly interrupted Hermione. "The Dark Lord's appearance was due to the flawed power he mastered and his reckless transfigurations. Our powers will slowly transform our bodies, but in a way that elevates us, allowing us to fully accommodate these forces. So we won't end up noseless or bald. Trust me."
"Then what will the final transformation be?" Hermione's voice started to waver, her mind drifting as she considered a possibility she had never dared to imagine before.
"Immortality", Liam pursed his lips and decided to be honest. Even if he didn't say it, Hermione would soon discover the truth through her recent research on the forces of life and death. "The power we study will lead us down this path."
"The Dark Lord pursued this his entire life, and now it's in my hands. What a complete irony. A girl called a Mudblood by purebloods is far ahead of a great Slytherin descendant in this aspect." Hermione was visibly moved. As she grew older, she began to understand the rigid bloodline hierarchy of the wizarding world. Despite her determination to change this unjust system, the more she learned about the intricate relationships in the wizarding world, the more disheartened she became.
But now, she felt renewed confidence in her goals. With enough time, these issues would no longer be problems.
With this weight lifted from her mind, Hermione felt much lighter. She calmed down and said, "It sounds wonderful, and I think we have enough time to adapt to a life of endless years. However, I'm a bit worried because I'm only 16. Facing this issue so early is a bit overwhelming. I'm concerned about how I'll spend such a long time."
"Don't worry", Liam embraced Hermione. "No matter how long the journey, I'll be with you every step of the way."
This also sparked an idea in Liam and Hermione to visit the vampires. After all, several of these vampires had become immortal at a young age. They could learn from them about what it felt like to live for a long time, gaining valuable experience for their future.
Hermione had long been eager to study the vampires of this world, and soon she got her chance. One day, while they were guiding a group of werewolves in sensing nature, Jacob approached them and informed them that a vampire named Victoria planned to kill Bellatrix. To fight against the Cullen Family, who were protecting Bellatrix, Victoria had created a Newborn Vampire Army in Seattle and was preparing to attack Forks to avenge her boyfriend.
To prevent the vampires from harming humans, the werewolves decided to join forces with the Cullen Family to stop the vampire army. Liam and his group saw this as an opportunity to visit Seattle, catch a few vampires for research, and gather intelligence. So, they temporarily bid farewell to the werewolves and took a bus to Seattle.
For Hermione, who had started researching the forces of life and death, it was easy to identify Vampires, a type of abnormal being, from the crowd. With dollars, a pistol, and soul interrogation, they could easily obtain information about Vampires from the thugs who roamed the streets. Freshmen Vampires, unable to control themselves, naturally didn't hide their presence from humans. This made it easy for Liam and his team to track down Vampires.
Over the three days in Seattle, Liam and his team prevented seven or eight murders and killed four Vampires. These Vampires were incredibly strong and moved at lightning speed. However, they were far less sensitive to magic compared to Vampires in the Harry Potter world. After using large-scale slowing spells and soul impacts, the two of them easily achieved their goals.
Upon noticing the mysterious disappearance of Vampires, the organizers of the Vampire army began to gather their forces. To avoid completely wiping out the Vampires and to gain favor, Liam decided not to clean up the area. Once they confirmed that no more humans would be harmed, they returned to Forks with their loot.
When they arrived back in Forks, they encountered Jasper Hale training Werewolves and Vampires. As the only one with experience facing Freshmen Vampires—due to his past involvement in organizing a Newborn Vampire Army—he understood how to handle them.
"Remember two crucial things: first, don't let their arms touch you; second, avoid obvious hunting. If you attack from the side and keep moving, they will be disoriented and unable to react effectively."
After finishing his explanation to the Werewolves, Jasper turned around and was startled to see Liam and his team in the woods. Even with his Vampire senses, he hadn't detected their arrival, which was a testament to the effectiveness of Apparition.
"Who are you?" he asked, tense. The surrounding Vampires, including Bellatrix, turned their heads. Upon recognizing Liam and his team, Bellatrix visibly relaxed and began introducing them to the other Vampires.
"Welcome, thank you for your help", Carlisle Cullen, the patriarch of the Cullen family, said sincerely. The Werewolves had likely informed the Cullens about Liam's recent activities.
"We slowed them down and took out a few Vampires who were attacking humans", Liam said, glancing at the Vampires present. The Cullens, who didn't view humans as food, showed no displeasure at this news. Edward, who resembled Cedric Diggory, even smiled. Liam continued, "However, they soon gathered and moved this way. The three of us couldn't hold off so many Vampires, so we hurried to join you."
"No worries, you've done an excellent job. It's our turn to take the stage now", Carlisle said with a smile.
He then explained his plan. Liam and Hermione volunteered to accompany Edward and Bellatrix to spread their scent and provide close protection. With broomsticks, they had the best mobility while carrying a human. As Wizards, they had enough magic to protect Bellatrix. Additionally, as humans, Liam and Hermione's scents wouldn't alert the Freshmen Vampires, ensuring their safety.
"Good luck", Jacob said, waving off Liam with a disgruntled look as he held Liam's magic communicator. Liam and Hermione then took off on their broomsticks, carrying Edward and Bellatrix, flying higher and farther until they were out of sight of those on the ground.
