Chapter 471: D1-Long vs. The Gods' Four Heavenly Kings
Chapter 471: D1-Long vs. The Gods' Four Heavenly Kings
"Tch... That guy ran fast..." When D1-Long arrived at the crater edge blasted by the ki cannon, there was no trace of anyone nearby.
The street lay empty, a cold wind whistling through the silence.
Long showed no mourning or sorrow for his comrade's death. His cold gaze swept the area like a sharpened blade. Finally, his eyes settled on where Y2-Shining had fallen. "Even Y2-Shining, enhanced with energy augmentation, was still consumed by her..." He murmured, "We can't underestimate her."
As the first-order derivative being lost in thought, suddenly—a sound of a Stone Disc shattering erupted from dozens of meters away.
The next second, the temperature soared where D1-Long stood. Four walls of fire materialized from nothing, encircling him as they snapped inward. These flames were ten points eerie—though the fire seemed subdued, their heat could melt iron and split gold.
Within two seconds, a ten-meter radius centered on Long had been scorched clean of air itself... D1-Long's figure vanished, seemingly vaporized.
"Four Gates open, sinners enter. Doors swing wide to greet with flames. Molten iron flows knee-deep, smoke and fire rising where one treads." The attacker finally stepped out from a dark alley, hands clasped behind his back as he recited poetry.
It was none other than Shiva, master of the Celestial Dance Hourglass.
"Chief, you're really something", Brahma followed with a smirk. "But declaring victory with poetry after a move... seems a bit pretentious, don't you think?"
Shiva shot a glance at the brute, awkwardly sighing. "Sigh... You didn't need to mention it..."
"Hahahaha!" Vishnu chuckled, walking beside them. "That's just him. If he didn't, he wouldn't be himself."
Three of The Gods' Four Heavenly Kings had arrived. Yama naturally followed behind, puffing her lower lip to brush away the purple bangs from her forehead. "Sigh... A bunch of incurable idiots..."
Perhaps someone wonders how they reunited. To clarify—about an hour earlier, four players—Tian Tian Gui Xiao, Shiva, Fei Chai Shu, and Shidao Wei Wang—temporarily reached a consensus, forming a united front. They agreed to split up and search the city for other players, consolidating forces against this scenario's anomaly.
Meanwhile, after the Blood Lake incident, aside from Wu Si Can Xuan—who attempted to negotiate with the Lord of Demons and was instantly killed (Sashimi and Zui Wo Chang Ran watched their teammate's "diplomatic failure" and immediate demise before "rationally" retreating)—other guild players chose to keep their distance from the passing demon lord. Thus, the four opposing factions around Blood Lake disbanded.
Later, Shiva fortuitously reunited with his three guildmates in the city. Exchanging intelligence, the four formed a party to seek others.
Along the way, they eliminated numerous low-tier derivative beings from the Origin Organization. Now, the four hiding in shadows unexpectedly spotted D1-Long standing in the street.
Shiva had previously met Long at the crossroads. Knowing Long was one of the Explosive Tunnel's original openers, he understood this derivative being's capabilities must be extraordinary. Judging by recent battles with other derivatives, taking down this foe would require decisive skills.
Thus, Shiva decisively consumed a Stone Disc, launching an ambush with his restricted skill.
The preceding move was Celestial Dance Hourglass's "fire" special effect—Karmic Flame.
Karmic Flame's effect: Ignores attribute Defense entirely, launching an unavoidable fire attack against a single enemy. This strike deals both physical and spiritual damage simultaneously, its power determined by the user's Spirit Arts Proficiency Level. After using it, the fire Stone Disc shatters, only reconstituting upon returning to Login space.
In past scenarios, Shiva had killed targets with this move ten out of ten times. Only targets with size anomalies or special scenario boss traits could withstand it. Medium-sized targets—like players—were guaranteed one-hit kills.
Take kill mode as an example: Combining Karmic Flame with Pure Land against a player was nearly an unbreakable combo. No matter how high their defense, they'd collapse in one strike—even if facing defense specialists like Long Ao Min, Shiva remained confident.
Yet D1-Long's capabilities far surpassed Shiva's expectations... As a being second only to the Origin Organization's three supreme leaders, could he truly be one-shotted by a mere psionic weapon's special effect?
"That was..." D1-Long's voice suddenly rang out again, "Like being splashed with warm water."
The four players' expressions shifted instantly, looking upward.
When did he reach the sky? D1-Long now hovered directly above where the Karmic Flame had detonated.
"Dodged?" Shiva's mind raced. "No... That move was supposed to be unavoidable..."
"Though the power wasn't impressive, it was quite annoying", D1-Long descended slowly, speaking midair. "I clearly leapt upward the moment those firewalls converged, but the system still judged me taking full damage." He shrugged, landing lightly. "Sometimes I honestly find this data world... ridiculous. You might not understand—imagine your neighbor eats a 50-jin mushroom and grows twice as tall."
"I understand your point", Shiva replied. "In the data world, the system's rules are natural law. As long as it meets the conditions, even if seemingly illogical, it's still 'reality'."
"You're half-right", Long said. Though his childlike appearance belied his outward form, his demeanor and tone were more mature and composed than many adult players in this scenario. "The other half... you'll never grasp." He paused, his gaze sweeping over the four players. "Enough talk. Judging from your actions, you already know what's happening in this scenario." His voice hardened. "Will you come willingly, or must I take action?"
"Chief..." Brahma whispered to Shiva. "Your move—fight or flee?" Brahma, ranked eighth on the combat power leaderboard, wasn't just brawn. He knew appearances meant little, and even four-on-one held no guarantee of victory. This moment required caution.
