Chapter 470: The Gryffindor Pitching Machine is Back!
Chapter 470: The Gryffindor Pitching Machine is Back!
Luna smiled as she read the letter.
Her roommates, however, were quite surprised.
"Who sent you the letter? Your father? Looks like he didn’t send you that nonsense newspaper this time", Aurora sneered.
Luna paid no attention to her, intending to put the letter away.
But Aurora, annoyed by Luna’s disregard, snatched the letter from her.
As soon as she saw the prominent signature at the bottom of the envelope, she exclaimed in shock.
"Ivan Hals? He sent you a letter?"
The other young witches, hearing this, crowded around curiously to see the contents of the envelope.
"Can you give me my letter back?" Luna asked, her voice calm but laced with a hint of displeasure.
Aurora had no intention of returning it and instead asked suspiciously, "Is this letter forged? Ivan Hals is going to participate in a Quidditch match, why would he send you a letter in such a roundabout way? Why not just come and tell you himself?"
The other young witches in the dorm also didn’t believe it.
As Aurora said, they were all in the same school, so close, why would he write a letter for such a small matter?
Perhaps Luna had forged it herself to pretend she had a famous friend, to fend off their ridicule.
Though it was strange and a normal person wouldn't do such a thing, this was the crazy girl from Ravenclaw, and no one could guess what she was thinking.
"Give me back my letter, Aurora!" Luna emphasized again, her displeasure evident on her face.
Aurora laughed, completely ignoring Luna, and seemed to intend to show the letter to more people.
Luna drew her Wand and pointed it at her!
"Petrificus Totalus!"
Her ethereal voice echoed in the dorm, and a bright white beam shot from the tip of her Wand.
Aurora’s smile froze, turning into a look of terror.
She hadn’t expected Luna to actually attack her and couldn’t react in time, only to watch as the beam hit her.
In a moment, Aurora felt her body rapidly hardening, and her consciousness froze in that second.
Luna’s sudden outburst caught everyone off guard. The roommates who had been mocking her were now frightened.
"Merlin, how could you use magic to attack Aurora?"
"You’re in trouble, I’m going to tell Professor Flitwick!"
"You watch her! I’ll go get the prefect!"
The young witches, once they recovered, shouted angrily and fearfully, some even pointing their Wands at Luna, but none had the courage to cast a spell.
Luna ignored them, treating them as if they weren’t there. She walked over, took the letter from Aurora’s hand, folded it, and put it away. Then she looked at the signboard covered in graffiti, a bit troubled.
Fortunately, Luna quickly remembered the cleaning spell Ivan had taught her in the corridor a month ago. It might come in handy.
Hmm, it should be used like this!
Luna thought, moving her Wand in a peculiar rhythm and muttering softly.
"Scourgify!"
A gust of magical wind swept over the signboard, erasing the messy drawings like an eraser, revealing its original appearance.
The golden letters on the parchment were enchanted, naturally unaffected by the Cleaning Charm.
The young witch nodded in satisfaction.
The Cleaning Charm, she had already learned.
Two days passed in a flash, with Ivan constantly alternating between studying and training, leaving him no time to rest. It wasn't until the day of the Quidditch match that he finally got a breather.
However, the other Quidditch players were in stark contrast, each one of them extremely nervous.
This time, the score difference between them and Slytherin was too large; even the 150 points from catching the Golden Snitch wouldn't be enough to close the gap.
"Alright",
As the gates leading to the pitch opened, Ivan mounted his Firebolt and flew out of the tunnel.
The stands, which had been empty during training, were now packed with enthusiastic young wizards holding various signs to cheer for their house teams, the cheers and applause never ceasing.
Along with the cheers, Ivan also heard Lee Jordan's enthusiastic commentary.
"Here come the Gryffindor team! As everyone knows, Harry fell from his broom due to the influence of the Dementors in the previous match, leading to an unexpected loss against Hufflepuff, which put them over a hundred points behind Slytherin."
"This was extremely unfair. If Harry hadn't been affected, he would have caught the Golden Snitch in that match against Cedric."
As he commented, Jordan couldn't help but express his personal feelings, even discussing what would have happened if Gryffindor had won the previous match.
It wasn't until Professor Mcgonagall gave him a stern look that Jordan quickly returned to the official commentary.
However, when he scanned the players, preparing to discuss the lineup, he was surprised to see Ivan, dressed in the Gryffindor team uniform, flying onto the pitch.
"It's Ivan Hals! Oh my, he's actually playing! What a surprise! It's a Firebolt!! The latest concept broom, and Harry has one too. We have a chance to save Gryffindor!"
Jordan's excited shout, amplified by the Sonorous Charm, drowned out the cheers of the crowd, echoing across the pitch.
Like Jordan, many of the young wizards in the stands also noticed that the Gryffindor team had replaced a player, with Ivan, who had previously claimed he wouldn't play, now back on the pitch.
The young Gryffindors were overjoyed. Due to the large score gap, they had not been hopeful about the match, expecting to lose the Quidditch Cup for sure. But Ivan's appearance reignited their hope!
After all, Ivan's performance last year, scoring twenty-five goals in a single match, was truly unforgettable.
Ivan flew around the pitch with the others, basking in the crowd's cheers.
However, as he passed the Gryffindor stands, he heard a strange comment mixed in with the cheers.
"Great, our goal-scoring machine is back!"
Ivan nearly fell off his broom at the remark.
Who the hell said that?
Ivan turned his head sharply and focused on the direction of the voice. Despite the crowd, he recognized the familiar voice—it was Seamus Finnigan!
