Chapter 470: The Boy Seeking a Dragon (Second Update)
"Natsu, it seems we've picked the wrong person again!"
The small blue cat, carrying a small bag, sighed with frustration.
The red-haired boy was sprawled on the ground, looking half-dead:
"Happy, I'm so hungry, I have no strength left!"
"There's nothing we can do about it. We don't have a single cent."
The small blue cat named Happy rubbed his forehead.
"Are you two okay?"
At that moment, a gentle voice came from behind Happy.
It was Jerry, who had arrived with Lucy.
Just a moment ago, Jerry had thought the mages in this world weren't very powerful, but then he encountered a boy whose magic power was as strong as his own. This couldn't help but pique his curiosity.
So, after the Fire Dragons and the girls left, Jerry decided to approach them with Lucy.
"Ah, we're fine, just hungry and out of energy!"
Natsu, seeing someone come to their aid, sat up and replied weakly.
The punches and kicks from those ordinary girls couldn't hurt him; he was just too hungry.
"It's getting late. Why don't we go have lunch? My treat."
Jerry nodded and suggested to Lucy beside him.
Lucy, hearing about a free lunch, naturally didn't refuse and happily agreed. She had run away from home and didn't have much money. Since she hadn't joined a guild to take on missions and earn money, she was happy to save a bit.
Meanwhile, when Natsu and Happy heard the word "lunch", their stomachs growled in unison.
Jerry, seeing this, smiled and said:
"I heard you two don't have any money. If you don't mind, you can join us for lunch. My treat!"
"Wow, you're so kind! Thank you!"
Natsu and Happy, realizing someone was willing to buy them a meal, were so grateful that they fell to their knees and bowed in thanks, their eyes shining.
Jerry's lips twitched at the sight:
"No, no, there's no need for that!"
Do people in this world show gratitude so formally? It's just a meal, no need to bow like that. It made him feel a bit awkward, as if he needed to pull out a transformation spell to produce two red envelopes to hand over.
However, when he saw Lucy's equally shocked expression, he realized he might have misunderstood.
Maybe this boy and his cat were just an exception.
Still, their actions gave Jerry a good impression of them.
The boy's magic power was as strong as his own, indicating that he was either already a powerful mage or had the potential to become one.
Yet, when faced with a group of ordinary girls, he didn't fight back, and even when he was hungry and had no money, he refused to use his strength to take food by force.
At least, his character was decent.
After introducing themselves, the three of them and the cat headed to a nearby restaurant that looked quite nice.
"Natsu, Happy, why did you come to this city? Are you looking for someone?"
Jerry skillfully dodged the food debris that Natsu and Happy scattered while eating and asked curiously.
"Igneel!"
Happy, munching on a piece of grilled fish, replied.
Natsu, with his mouth full of food, mumbled:
"We heard the Fire Dragons were coming to this city, so we came specially. But it turned out we picked the wrong person."
"That guy didn't look like a Fire Dragon at all!"
Happy nodded in agreement.
"What do you mean by saying that the appearance isn't like Fire Dragons? Humans are supposed to look like that, right?"
Lucy rolled her eyes and removed a vegetable that Natsu had flung onto her head.
Hearing Lucy's words, Natsu stuffed an entire pizza into his mouth and replied matter-of-factly:
"Of course not, Igneel is a real dragon!"
"Huh???"
Lucy was momentarily petrified.
"What, are dragons rare in this world?"
At this, Jerry also asked curiously.
In his mind, in a world where Magic is so common, there should be quite a few Magic creatures like dragons.
After all, right in front of them on the table was a talking, bipedal Magic cat.
However, Lucy's response disproved his assumption.
"Dragons are legendary powerful Magic creatures. There have been no sightings of them for hundreds of years. Besides, even if they exist, why would they appear in a human city?"
"Yeah, we never thought of that, Lucy, you're so smart!"
Natsu and Happy immediately realized the truth.
It was then that Jerry noticed that this human and cat seemed a bit dimwitted.
"That's common sense!"
Lucy muttered to herself, then turned to look at Jerry.
"By the way, Jerry, are you from around here? Buying so many magical items, are you planning to learn Magic?"
"No, I come from a very distant place, but I do have a keen interest in various types of Magic. Speaking of which, Lucy, you don't seem to be from around here either."
Jerry glossed over his own background and shifted the conversation to Lucy.
Lucy's face lit up with anticipation as she replied:
"I want to become a top-notch Celestial Mage and join my favorite Mage Guild. That's why I left home to go on an adventure. This city is my first stop, and next, I—"
After the meal, Natsu and Happy once again knelt down to thank Jerry, promising to treat them to a meal when they had money next time they met, before waving goodbye and leaving to continue searching for clues about Fire Dragons and Igneel.
Jerry didn't try to stop them, as he believed that with Natsu's strength, they might meet again in the future.
"Alright, let's get to the next part of our agreement."
After Natsu left, Jerry turned to Lucy.
Lucy pointed to the right side of the restaurant:
"Let's go to that small, deserted park nearby. What we're about to do shouldn't be seen by others!"
"..."
The waitress in a maid costume, who was trying to attract customers at the restaurant entrance, looked oddly at Jerry and Lucy's conversation.
"I am the one who connects the path to the Celestial Spirits. I call upon you to respond to my summoning, traverse the Celestial Gate, open, Gate of Canis Minor, Nikora!"
In the empty space of the small park, Lucy solemnly took out the Canis Minor key and quickly recited the incantation to summon a Celestial Spirit using Celestial Magic.
As she finished the incantation, she made a special gesture of inserting the key downward, and a palm-sized Magic Circle instantly appeared on the ground.
Then, a small, snow-white creature, resembling a little snowman, wobbled out of the Magic Circle.
"Aww, so cute!"
Seeing the Canis Minor Celestial Spirit appear, Lucy's eyes sparkled with hearts as she scooped it up and started cuddling it furiously.
She looked like one of those cat lovers Jerry had seen in videos from his previous life, who spent their days obsessively petting their cats.
