Chapter 470: Making Acquaintances
Chapter 470: Making Acquaintances
The small Hospital Wing was a flurry of activity, but the Werewolves looked much more relaxed. When they learned that Liam and his group were planning to stay for a while but had no place to stay, they warmly invited Liam and his group to live with them in the Quileute tribe.
Through Sam’s introduction in the car, Liam and his group finally understood that they were now in Washington State, Usa. This was not the same as Washington D.C., the capital of the United States. Washington State is the northwesternmost state in the contiguous United States, bordering Canada. They were currently in Forks, Washington.
On the way to the town, it was continuously raining. As they passed through the temperate forest, the rain-soaked trees and rocks were covered in a thick layer of dark green. The endless high mountains and trees stretched out like a dreamlike Realm. They could see a river flowing out of the woods. Sam said the river was called the Quileute River, named after their tribe. The Quileute River flowed through the ancient forest, shrouded in a mist of emerald green, singing as it rushed toward the sea.
“Where are we going now?” Liam couldn’t place which world this was, so he simply stopped trying to figure it out. He looked out the window at the trees and asked Sam, who was driving. In the back seat of the pickup truck, Hermione was chatting with Rose Crystal.
“Emily’s house. She’s my girlfriend, no, my fiancée now,” Sam said with a happy smile. “I thought it wouldn’t be suitable for you and your group to stay with a bunch of single young men. Besides, my fiancée is an excellent cook.”
“Thanks a lot,” Liam said, relaxing in his seat.
The pickup truck drove past the easternmost house in town, turned onto a narrow dirt road. At the end of the road was a small house with gray paint peeling off the walls. The door was painted blue, and like the walls, it was covered in chipped paint. Next to the door was a narrow window, and below it, a row of orange flowers brightened the place. “The people here must be very optimistic,” Hermione remarked after looking at the house.
Everyone got out of the car, and Sam led the way, pushing open the door. A sweet, creamy aroma wafted out. “I think Emily is cooking. You can try her food. Because of me, she always makes a lot.”
Following Sam into the house, Liam found that the interior was not very large, and the living room doubled as a kitchen. A young woman with bronze skin stood by the sink, looking at the oven. The oven was baking something creamy, and the delicious scent filled the entire living room.
“Ah, guests, welcome. Sam rarely brings strangers home. You must be hungry. I’ll make some pancakes for you,” Emily said in a gentle voice, then turned her face. Liam felt Hermione, who was holding his hand, squeeze it slightly.
Emily’s left side of her face was smiling, but on her right side, from her forehead to her chin, there were three deep red scars. The wounds had healed long ago, but the scars remained. One scar ran past her almond-shaped black eyes, and another pulled at her right cheek, giving her right side a perpetual look of sadness.
Fortunately, Liam and his group had seen their fair share of hardships, so they greeted Emily normally, as if her face was unmarred. They introduced themselves, and soon the pancakes were ready. Everyone gathered around the table and started eating. Rose Crystal began to act cute in front of Emily, quickly making her giggle.
“It looks like these pancakes aren’t enough. I’ll make something else—” Emily started to get up after the plate of pancakes was quickly emptied, but Hermione stopped her. “Why don’t you try our cooking?” While it wasn’t entirely appropriate to say this on a first visit, the half-hour conversation had made them feel like old friends.
When Hermione walked into the kitchen, Sam and Emily were immediately stunned by her Magic performance. As Hermione waved her wand, ingredients flew out of the fridge, and the dough on the cutting board was shaped, baked, and finally landed on a wooden plate as a delicious cream apple pie, all within three minutes.
"Truly amazing, this is what a Wizard can do?" Emily asked curiously.
"Of course", Hermione said, cutting into the apple pie with a knife. "If you don't mind, after we finish eating, we can help treat the wound on your face. With Magic, I can guarantee it will be as if you were never injured."
"Really? That would be incredible." Before Emily could respond, Sam stood up, excited. "When I first turned into a Werewolf, I couldn't control my emotions. It was—", he paused, nearly crying, and Emily stood up, gently patting his back.
After finishing the apple pie, Hermione took Emily to the back for treatment, and Rose Crystal followed. Physical injuries like these were very easy for Wizards to heal. Liam, meanwhile, stayed behind with Sam, drinking Hot Chocolate while waiting.
Sam seemed restless, and Liam tried to calm him down. Taking advantage of their close proximity, Liam used the principles of Transformation and Alchemy to analyze the characteristics of the Quileute werewolves. After about seven or eight minutes, just as Liam had obtained the rune model of a Quileute werewolf in its normal state, Hermione and Emily returned.
"How do you feel?" Sam stood up and rushed to Emily, asking.
"Much better", Emily said, brushing the hair away from her right cheek. The scar had completely vanished, and this half of her face looked as if it had never been injured.
They kissed passionately for a while before finally breaking apart, repeatedly thanking Liam and the others. Perhaps because Emily's face had been healed, Sam opened up, repeatedly expressing his guilt over not being able to control his emotions and causing his lover's disfigurement.
"I have an idea", Liam said. "If you allow me to observe how you transform into a wolf, I might find a way to help you control your emotions. Don't worry, we will only observe. We will definitely seek your consent before using any Magic."
"No problem, I'm ready to start right now", Sam waved his hand. "I know you're good people, and I'm willing to cooperate. If you can find a solution, it will be a great help for all Quileute werewolves. Besides, I don't want to hurt my lover again."
After agreeing, they walked to the forest behind the house. Once they were out of sight of the house, Sam stopped. "How should I assist with your observation?"
"I think we should have a fight. It's the most straightforward way", Liam suggested after some thought.
"A fight? Will you use Magic?" Sam asked curiously, as he had never seen Magic before. The Vampires here fought using their powerful bodies, incredible speed, and agility, so he was very curious about Magic.
"No, it will be close combat", Liam proposed a solution Sam hadn't considered.
